“Love this local gem. Food is consistently delicious and fresh. I have yet to dine in, but the establishment is very clean and there appears to be seating for roughly 40. The workers are kind and friendly, and the pricing is very reasonable, which is a plus.“

“Excellent food at this nice hidden gem in the area. If you enjoy Thai food, this place is a must-try. The flavors are authentic, the portions are generous, and everything tastes fresh. I highly recommend the Pad Thai and the coconut curry both were full of flavor, well-balanced, and absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more items on the menu.“

“I stumbled upon this Thai restaurant and what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be! The ambiance was a delightful fusion of modern elegance and traditional Thai charm. The dimly lit dining area, adorned with beautiful Thai artwork, created a serene atmosphere that was perfect for a romantic dinner. The service was top-notch, with the waitstaff offering helpful recommendations and ensuring our every need was met. And the food, oh my, it was a gastronomic adventure! The tom yum soup was a tantalizing explosion of flavors, and the pineapple fried rice was a delightful balance of sweet and savory. This place is a hidden gem that deserves more recognition!“

“Great authentic Thai restaurant in San Diego! We ordered the spring rolls, pad kee mao, broccoli peanut, and sticky rice with mango, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The pad kee mao had great spice and depth, and the mango sticky rice was the perfect sweet finish. Excellent service and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend for anyone craving quality Thai food in San Diego!“

“Fantastic experience. Excellent service and great recommendations by our waiter. I had the Panang curry - very tasty and the vegetables were so fresh and flavorful. Went for a business dinner with my boss and he loved it as well. Will definitely be back whenever I’m in the area. Oh, and be sure to get the dumplings!“

“Crispy, decadent, and absolutely perfectly seasoned chicken. Not too salty (which tends to be the case for lots of fried chicken chains). Thai tea is yummy, I don't taste the overtly strong artificial powder taste of other Thai teas especially at some milk tea shops. Real yummy. Low prices. Very happy and satisfied.“

“This is exactly the kind of Thai place you want. Small, authentic, personable, and delicious. And affordable, to top it all off. The owners have been here for 25 years, and they took the time to chat with us. And gave us free lemon tea when they heard my wife cough. Wish we lived here so we could go every week.“

“Conveniently located for those of us working in Downtown San Diego, Thotsakan is a great place to grab a tasty lunch affordably and in time to get back to work by the end of one's lunch break. Their pumpkin curry, drunken noodles, and choo chee salmon lunch specials are especially good :)“

“The food is great! But the girl at the counter needs lessons in customer service and also an attitude adjustment. This is the only reason that deters me from going there more often.“

“The food was delicious. I took my 85-year-old mom who is not that familiar with Thai food. She's only had it a few times. She was very impressed with the dishes we had. We had the chicken wings... Incredible!! We had the pad Thai with chicken... Excellent! And we had the crying tiger steak ... Superb! We also ordered the pork spring rolls. The spring rolls were not really for us. But, I heard other people like them.“

“This establishment was very welcoming and provided excellent service. As first-time visitors, we started with the Satay Chicken, which was so good we finished it before getting a photo. I ordered the combination Pad Thai, and my daughter chose the Hot Basil dish, both were well-seasoned, flavorful, and prepared perfectly.
We will definitely be returning. While parking was somewhat limited, the quality of the food and overall experience more than made up for it. Highly recommend giving this place a try.“

“The nice women who took my orders were super nice and caring. The dining area is small and cozy with dim lighting, and clean. Prices were typical of Thai restaurants from what I've seen in the US. Curry with white rice is usually 15-18 dollars, and Thai tea is 5-7. I got Red Curry twice and Panang curry once. I had to work the following days, so I only got spicy level 2 or lower. I'm sure spicy 3 would be too hot for people who don't try it much. I'd recommend spicy level 1 or 2 to at least get some of the flavor. I don't know what authentic Thai is or if I've had it, but this place cooks delicious food. The rice is always perfect and was never mushy. The tofu is perfectly firm on the outside and the right amount of soft on the inside. The sweetness of the curries was also the perfect amount. I have nothing bad to say about Thai Time on Broadway. Take out orders for 1 take about 10 minutes.“

“We discovered this spot a while back and recently visited San Diego again and had another chance to stop by. By far this sweet little spot makes Lao Cuisine closest to homemade. All the flavors were there in the mix salad which I loved because a lot of Lao Cuisine don’t make it this way. And the fried chicken and sausage was a great pair with the salad. We also had a side of sticky rice. The set up was changed and may have different ownership? But we felt like it still hit the spot.
Many complain about the cost, unless you know how much time and effort goes into Lao Cuisine, it shouldn’t be any less than any other cuisine. Otherwise, it may be best to make it yourself at home than complain about the cost of what things should be.
We thought it was all reasonable and generous amount of food in this economy. My husband and I still didn’t finish it all.
We visit San Diego often so we will be back!“
“Ko Kai has been such a blessing to have in San Diego! It is so hard to find restaurants with this type of food made this style! There are other variations of Hainan chicken but nothing close to this one. We have tried it all in San Diego and this one just hits home. It has a mix of Malay/Singapore and Chinese feel but from a Thai family! I was able to chat with the owners and they are super nice! Their descendants are from China but their family migrated to Thailand. This recipe has been past down generations and still operating till this day in the South of Thailand! This is a must try! You won’t regret it! I always have to keep an eye out for their announcements where they’ll be during the week!
You won’t be disappointed!“

“Thai Taste 2 I was very good food and great atmosphere. My family goes there once every few weeks. I love the fresh spring rolls which I like to get with chicken. I also like the cashew chicken add panang curry call my you guessed it with chicken. One of my wife's favorites is the pad see you noodle dishes (spelling 🤷♂️). The staff are friendly and always helpful and ordering whether we do take out or dine in. Definitely recommend giving them a try.“
