“Excellent place. We tried the crispy rice, rattle snake roll, and sunset roll. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. The service is great, and the restaurant has a nice dining area with large TVs. Lots of parking, which is always a plus.“

“Not a big fan of sitting on the side of street where people walk by and you intake that fumes coming from all these traffic. Got to sit inside by the bar, the food here is okay, but a bit pricey for what it's worth. Been to many affordable to very expensive sushi places in the U.S. and in Asia, this place is more IG/social media friendly picturesque place than an actual sushi/sashimi place. Not much nigiri/sashimi choices. Not a big fan of places that sell pre-made canned alcohol with an extreme markup.“

“Really phenomenal high quality sushi. They had some really wonderful, unique and delicious vegetarian options that were just as elegant and beautifully presented as the fish options. My husband who loves fish said his meal was some of the best sushi he ever had. We'll definitely be back!“

“One of my fav sushi spots in Pasadena & I’d say we only have about 3 or 4 of them. I’ve been in 3 times so far and I’ve always had the same server, she’s really friendly and attentive. The Chirashi lunch special (in photo) is spectacular! The fish is so fresh and when you open up the bottom compartment, there are pickles and some other fish bits bits (?) inside. It really is so good and if you love fish, you CANNOT go wrong w this order. It’s also a very generous portion. This is probably something I’ll stick to because when I tried their rolls I wasn’t nearly as impressed. Their rolls were good but nothing memorable. I’ll continue to go back and order sashimi and the chirashi bowl though.“

“This place is very chill and clean, with a self-serve bar for miso soup, ginger, wasabi, tea, and water. But I'm stopping in the middle of eating to write this review specifically because this is the best nigiri I can ever recall having!“

“Sushi Zanmai has great sushi and other dishes. They also have hot dishes. The place is just so pretty and the seating is comfortable and inviting. Make a reservation as it will get crowded at night.

Everything is just so fresh and filled with flavor. The tuna is my personal favorite. But I also love their hot dishes. Their rice is great and I love rice so I have to have it.

Their menu is on a pad which I don't like, but they deal with it.

The prices are high, but such is the cost of great fish these days. They have great combination plates that the whole table will love.

As to the service, it is fantastic. the entire staff is welcoming and will help you with the menu if you need it. They are fast and super helpful.

“Ok. So I have to start out by saying im not a big fan of sushi. Im your typical California roll or fried sushi. Having said that this place changed the way I think about sushi! I always wondered how real Japanese sushi would taste and I have a feeling this place is certainly close to that. I had recently watched a documentary on Netflix and how this one place in Japan you just trust the chef to serve you delicious 😋 sushi! Well this is place does the same and boy it doesn't disappoint. I've never had salmon melt in my mouth like that or had sushi rice taste sooo good. And the ginger ! Thats real stuff

I have never had to wait for a table and the service is direct, and courteous. they provide incredible ginger that they will refill throughout your meal, so go crazy, it’s addictive. and the wasabi. freshly grated, sweet, fluffy, this is the real deal.
my favorites are the sweet shrimp, the uni served with hokkaido and santa barbara side by side, the halibut, and red snapper. but it’s all very very good.
every time i am seated, the waiter reminds me, no special roll, no california roll, and I couldn’t be happier.“

Started with fatty Tuna that melted in my mouth so fresh delicious then moved on to giant Clams (Mirugai) it was sweet & crunchy I could have gone for second order not many sushi restaurants have (Mirugai)The fatty belly Salmon was buttery & the spicy Tuna hand roll sashimi was perfect coz I’m a spicy food addict it was just heavenly for me. Yum yum 🤤 ended with Kumamoto Oyster 🦪 it was so sweet like cotton candy in your mouth made me wanting more which I did order more. “The food was amazing. The sweet potato was something I never had in my whole life. I have been to 39 countries for work and have eaten so many foods and I have never tasted anything close to it. The aburi salmon was delicious as well. However the star of the show: Our server Nic. He was one of the best most down to earth servers I have ever had in my life. He was patient, recommended the best things on the menu including the sweet potato. And my glass of water was never empty. You would think going to a trendy restaurant that maybe there would be a stuck-up atmosphere. But no all the servers and waiters were extremely friendly. Although the sweet potato is not something I had before in my life, I think Nic was one of the best servers. I got. Although pricey it was worth any penny. We'll be back in a week.“

“Okay I don’t even know where to start but my experience at Morihiro was amazing. It was actually my second time but it gets even better and better. Coming from Japan, it is SO HARD to find good sushi overseas. Sure there are so many Michelin sushi restaurants here in LA but Morihiro is not even comparable- first Shari ( sushi rice ) is ANOTHER LEVEL. Quality of Shari is so important to make good sushi but he actually spent 25years to look for specific rice - Rice here is not just a decoration but it plays important role for the sushi. And appetizers!!! He likes to mix both Japanese traditional dish and local ingredients. It was amazing. A lot of sushi restaurants don’t care about appetizers but they just care about golden flakes or caviar lol But his dish is so delicious and there is a meaning behind. Also service was top notch! They don’t even speak Japanese but they knew the details of regions or seasonal ingredients. Can you even imagine how hard would it be to learn every single name of fish or vegetable in different language? I have huge respect for all the chefs and servers. It was AMAZING. You will NOT regret it. I can guarantee as a Japanese foodie from Japan!!!!!!“

Solo diner on a Sunday late afternoon and the place was busy! Got a great table and had mixed tempura, Philadelphia roll and coconut roll. All of which was super delicious. I took half home in a to go box for snacks later.
Would highly recommend & be a regular if I was local.“

“Last minute decision to grab a few rolls and we were happy to be able to try Ichijiku Sushi. No wait or line on a Tuesday night which meant we got great service as one of the few people in at that time. We tried the spicy tuna with crunchy rice, a yellowtail hand roll, salmon nigiri, and negitoro & scallion cut hand roll. Favorite was the negitoro hand roll, great quality and delicious, simple flavor. I wasn’t wow’ed by the yellowtail handroll and found the seaweed not very crunchy making each bite a little harder to chew. Fish quality was great though! Glad we got to try this smaller neighborhood joint.“

“Hidden gem of an authentic Japanese sushi and sashimi market. The entrance is located in the back of a side driveway. Though this market is small, I carries fresh sushi, sashimi trays ready to eat. Plus they have a kitchen made to order & ready to cut sashimi at your request. I'm also amazed to see the varieties of different raw fish, uni from Santa Barbara and raw scallops; all at reasonable prices.
They also carry cute Japanese stationary, frozen and regular food items. Definitely this is a place I heartily recommend.“
