“Outstanding experience dining here. Our server was incredible, super knowledgeable, confident, and clearly not their first rodeo with gluten-free dining. They knew every single dish inside and out, proactively pointed out shared fryer cross-contamination details, and clearly walked us through which items were fully gluten-free outside of regular soy sauce (super helpful for anyone with different tolerance levels). Finding a spot where the front-of-house understands dietary nuances that well without making it feel like a hassle is rare. Fantastic food, top-tier service, and total peace of mind. “The grilled pork collar, the khao kha moo, is the dish that most regulars gravitate toward first, slow-cooked pork leg over rice with a dark, sweet braising sauce and a soft egg alongside, the kind of composed plate that operates at the intersection of comfort food and actual cooking. The fried pork skin served with a larb dipping sauce is the snack that arrived at the table first and was gone faster than anything else, the skin light and airy and the larb funky and herbaceous and the kind of thing that makes you understand why certain foods become obsessions. The pad see ew is the noodle dish most people know and want, and the version here is properly wok-charred with good smokiness in the flat rice noodles and a soy-egg combination that's been executed well rather than just thrown together. The papaya salad has a heat level that earns its reputation, bright and tart and genuinely spicy in a way that doesn't ease up. The mango sticky rice at the end is generous and properly made, the coconut milk soaked deep into the rice and the mango sweet and ripe in a way that seasonal sourcing makes possible.
The wine program here is notably good for a casual Thai restaurant, which is part of what makes the whole experience feel more considered than the room might suggest.“

We took two friends for a belated birthday dinner (and as the staff realized it was just that, they even rewarded us with a delicious birthday dessert :-). The only downside I noticed was the restaurant's online presence. The website felt outdated, didn't offer online ordering, and the social media accounts weren't very active. As a tourist, this initially gave me the impression that the restaurant might not be very good. However, after visiting, I realized I couldn't have been more wrong. A modern, well-maintained website would better reflect the quality of the food and service and make a much stronger first impression on potential customers.“

“My favorite restaurant in LA. The steak and chocolate tarts are unbelievably good, and the pastas are always fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is just as great, with dim lighting and a really cool patio. Such a perfect spot for a date or dinner with people you love.“

“Backbone was an incredible dining experience from start to finish. I started with the tuna tartare, which was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and had an amazing balance of flavors and textures. From there, I had the corn agnolotti, which was easily one of the highlights of the night. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the delicate, flavorful sauce complemented the sweetness of the corn beautifully.

For my main course, I had the steak and fries. The steak was cooked perfectly, incredibly tender, and packed with flavor, while the fries were crispy and seriously addictive. Everything on the plate worked perfectly together.

I finished with key lime and scoop of coconut sorbet, which was just as impressive and the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal. Every dish was beautifully presented and tasted every bit as good as it looked.

What made the experience even better were the people. Every employee I interacted with was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The chef was also incredibly nice and personable, which added such a special touch to the evening. You can tell there’s real passion behind what they’re doing, both in the kitchen and in the way they treat their guests.

The attention to detail at Backbone really stood out to me. The atmosphere was stylish and inviting, the service was exceptional, and the entire meal flowed perfectly from one course to the next.

Backbone is absolutely a restaurant I’ll be coming back to. From the tuna tartare and corn agnolotti to the steak, dessert, and amazing hospitality, the entire experience was outstanding. One of the best meals I’ve had in a while and an easy five stars. Highly recommend!“

“Stumbled on this place while I was sucked into the reel vortex in the middle of the night on my 11-year Veganversary. The next day, we drove 40+ miles into LA and had the most amazing vegan meal, from appetizers to dessert. They have a full traditional menu as well as a full vegan menu. Welcoming and energetic vibe. Outstanding fun and friendly service (ask for Aria!) Food was highest quality and INSANELY delicious. Even parking is easy in the lot next door. Can’t wait to go back. I had no idea what to expect when I walked into this wine bar but boy was I impressed! I’m vegan and I was just looking for a vegan place to eat and stumbled upon the wine bar and its sister French bakery. The service was amazing. The food was stellar and ambience is like so adorable! “Once we were seated, I immediately noticed the incredible atmosphere of the restaurant. People were lively, chatting with each other and enjoying a good time. It was a happy sight to see.

The staff were passionate, and it genuinely seemed like they wanted to be there.

We ordered the lamb ragu, squid ink pasta, a side of broccolini, and the veal dish. Originally, we were only going to order the pasta and veal, but we found ourselves craving more food because of how delicious everything was. Not only did it taste amazing, but it also felt homemade, and the ingredients were extremely fresh.

I loved how both pastas had their own unique tomato flavors. The mashed potatoes served with the veal were incredibly creamy without being overwhelmingly buttery. The veal itself was extremely tender.

Loved the food here, 10/10. The portions were generous as well and well worth the price.“

“This place is so delightful and rarely crowded. Great atmosphere. One of the only places that is family friendly with live music, usually jazz or classical guitar, always at a pleasant volume. Lots of nice little touches - games, books, art, free popcorn, etc. Love it here!“

“Pizzana is a great example of casual fine dining. Their menu is excellent, and everything is made with a sense of high quality and culinary flair.

The Neapolitan-style pizzas are one of the best in SoCal. Ingredients offered are cultivated and paired with deliciousness in mind. The fresh ingredients shine quite well. Pastas are also prepared with the same attention to detail and won't disappoint.

Dining is best here, but I wouldn't have delivery if you're not close to any of their locations. Parking for this Silver Lake location is challenging; thus, plan accordingly.

“We've always taken a picnic to the Bowl so this was our first time at Ann's. I may never be able to go back to lugging dinner around with us. We had a lovely dinner. For the two of us we ordered the grilled bread, a Greek salad and the polenta with wild mushrooms. It was plenty for us to share. We also had a bottle of the Ultraviolet '24 cab which was very nice. All of the wait staff were very pleasant and professional.“

“Had to stop by my favorite Italian grubbin in the heart of Old Town Pasadena all the way from Boise. This was my 3rd time and each time just keeps getting better; definitely the bigger the party, the better. We paid $225 for 4 pasta entrees, 3 appetizers, & 2 glasses of wine for a party of 6. I’ve learned to like my pastas al dente after having them here. The meatballs are banging, the wine-pairing was delightful. “I don’t know why it took me 6 years to write this review… but Hermosillo really is hermoso/beautiful. I love this place. I go so often they already know my order before I even say it. That alone says everything. The service is always great, the vibe is perfect, and the food never misses. The ceviche with a golden pils is honestly all you need to be happy once… or 2 or 3 times a week 😂

Only funny thing is when the new bartender asks me for my ID every other day and I’m like “y’all are about 6 years too late asking me now” lol.

But seriously, this spot feels like home. Great people, great drinks, great food. One of my favorite place ever.“
