“I am Chinese and I think it's a great casual place to get authentic dim sum dishes! Ignore the fussy reviewers - of course it is not a formal restaurant so you cannot expect the full service/menu as such. I got the chinese broccoli - yes its a cold dish and it's delicious! Leek dumplings which were huge, perfectly steamed and full of leek and prawns. Finally the har cheong fan (which is my favourite dim sum food ever) was full of large, juicy prawns. Everything was fresh, delicious and generous. I found the service very friendly and fast.“

“It is a simple environment, but don't let it fool you. That is one of the best Chinese (Hong Kong style) restaurants in theLos Angeles area. That is amazing how good is the food there. Not expensive and not gentrified. The way it should be! Highly recommend the Won Tong soup. The menu is very descriptive with accurate images of each plate. Love the way you mark your selections in the menu and they bring everything to your table. The waiter is very nice and helpful. Highly recommend.“

“I will always love this place since I was a kid. Nothing has changed only getting better. I will always support them, and recommend them to everyone. My favourite for breakfast lunch and dinner, plus they have a free parking garage in the back.“

“The “Vegetarian Dumplings” are delicious and well priced. You can almost get full from that alone. If you want to be full, it's probably between $20 and $30. The staff is nice and there is a good selection of dishes.
Vegetarian options: Great selection of vegetarian dishes.“

“I went there to eat twice while I was in Los Angeles while traveling around the world. The dumplings are very delicious, but so is the rice. You can choose from several types of sauce for the gyoza. All the staff were smiling and the atmosphere was very good.
Vegetarian options: There are gyoza made only with vegetables.“

“Having Mama Lu’s 5 min away is seriously dangerous! This is one of our fav spots for Chinese spots and for good reason. The food is always delicious and they serve generous portions. This time we ordered the lobster noodles, shrimp with scrambled egg, shrimp, napa, & pork dumplings, spicy wontons, juicy pork dumplings, and sizzling filet mignon with black pepper sauce. Top favs of the night def have to be the lobster noodles, the sizzling plate, and the spicy wontons which always hit. Service was quick and friendly as usual.“

“What an awesome little restaurant that popped up here. Was looking to try something new and found this amazing little bao spot. The most amazing thing is how they fry these bao. The bottom is hard and crunchy and the top is soft, making a soup filled bao in either seafood, curry or the standard pork. They sell them in quantities of 6 and 2 to 3 is enough to fill me! Highly recommend a quick lunch or dinner here, you won’t be disappointed in the authentic flavors.“

“I visited this place for the first time with my teenage daughter. The staff were very friendly and after eating a few things made me want to eat more. We ate more than usual, but we were satisfied enough that we had no regrets. I want to visit again with other acquaintances.“

“I sampled their famous xiao long bao, delicious dumplings, savory fried rice and garlic string beans. Each dish was a taste experience, from the delicious dumplings in broth to the perfectly seasoned fried rice. The service is great and the atmosphere is inviting. Don't miss this place for authentic Taiwanese cuisine and unforgettable flavors. It has the taste of home.“

“The food was VERY delicious! I can't recommend the stewed beef over rice enough, that dish is AMAZING! The gentleman who took our order also let us know about their anniversary promotion, which resulted in a discount that was enough to make our drink free and still took a little bit off of our bill. I would've given a full 5 stars if it wasn't for the show speed of the food run. They were fulfilling a very large phone in or online order, and I think this slowed down the kitchen so much that of the 2 dishes we ordered, we didn't receive any of our food until about 30 minutes after we ordered, which was only 1 of the 2 dishes. The 2nd came out about another 20 minutes after that. All in all, I would definitely come back.“

“Well this one was a pleasant surprise. Smallish place, dark walls, some free parking in a busy area with a bunch of other eating places. Not being in SGV, didn't expect much. Ordered the half Peking duck, chicken chow fun, and beef with snow peas. The duck came out first, and our server did a great job of carving the duck at our table. I've heard that the table side carving is done, but had never experienced it. The duck was amazing! The skin was crisp, not the crispiest that I've had, but very good. Most pieces had skin and meat. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. It was served with bao buns, scallions, cilantro and hoisin sauce. The rest of the duck was chopped up in the kitchen and brought back to our table in a dish. The chicken chow fun was tasty, the chicken very tender, and the noodles cooked perfectly. The beef was also super tender, tasty, and the snow peas were cooked just right. What a great meal! Not a cheap meal. The three items were about $90 plus tip, but to get such quality in the Westwood area--priceless.“

“Great Shanghai Chinese joint! Get the scallion pancakes, dumplings, and chow mein. For vegetarians, this is a good spot with some clearly labeled options, and some flexibility if the server/chef is feeling kind that day.
Vegetarian options: Ask the server if you can substitute options (if it’s not busy there). Past that, other options are clearly labeled as vegetarian.“

“East Garden in Chinatown is a must-visit for dim sum lovers. Their shrimp dumplings are huge and juicy, while the fried dough is crispy and satisfying. The beef rice noodle rolls are soft and tender with just the right amount of sweet soy sauce. We also loved the walnut shrimp—creamy and perfectly paired with candied walnuts.“

“Quite enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and value for the price. I will say we didn't receive what we ordered. The staff were friendly and efficient but too busy to stay on top of everything. Would definitely go back, but maybe after trying other dim sum options first“

“Pretty good food. Fried chicken and pork dumplings were exactly as expected - pretty good. Orange chicken was very nice. Service was fine as far as service goes - tea was served instead of water, which came as a surprise to me.
Kid-friendliness: Fairly kid-friendly - nothing to write home about.“
“Food was way better than expected for a chain. Shanghai noodles were flavorful and green beans were also tasty.. their homemade chili sauce is to die for. XLB were ok, but will be back to try other dumplings! Finally, some good Asian food in “

“Best place in West LA for Chinese food. Our favorites are their green veggies ong choy garlic snow pea leaves salted fish fried rice porridge w you tiao which they call chinese donut. Their szechuan food is also pretty good but Sichuan Impression is better but also more expensive.Skip the shu mai and jelly fish appetizers taste like the frozen aisle in Ranch. Also the peking duck is actually roast duck so temper your expectations.“

“Food was SO good! I had been looking for a place with Xiao long bao, the dumplings with the soup INSIDE the bao, and these were perfect! I ordered a cold garlic noodle salad that ended up coming out hot and asked the man about it to make sure I didn't get the wrong thing and he brought me another cold one after I already started eating the warm one that was actually still really good warm. So that was nice to eat later that night in my hotel room. The last thing I got was the fried shrimp wonton w/ Chili Oil and they were big, plump and tasty shrimp! All these things had real tasty sauces and toppers too! I wanted to go back, but my travel buddy had a good point about trying a bunch of different things since we were in a good food paradise!
Vegetarian options: Plenty of non meat dishes to eat and get filled up.“
