The food was amazing all around, especially the shrimp tempura rolls and chicken gyoza, which were some of the best I’ve ever had. The fried rice was also top-notch, and even the regular non-sushi tempura shrimp was really good.

The experience was fantastic, but the calamari was just decent—it could’ve been better compared to how high the bar was set by the other dishes.

“The sushi here is absolutely excellent, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. You can really taste the quality in every bite. It’s also such a great value for the price, which makes the experience even better. I especially recommend the vegetarian roll, which was delicious, and the salmon avocado roll, which was perfectly balanced and so satisfying. The specialty dishes are fantastic as well, the crispy tuna dish, in particular, was outstanding and full of flavor.
One detail I really noticed and appreciated was how beautifully they cut the avocado. It’s such a small thing, but it shows the level of care and attention that goes into every plate, making the presentation just as enjoyable as the taste.
I really like that there’s the option to order individual rolls from the menu, which I personally preferred. At the same time, they also offer really good lunch specials that are generous and worth checking out if you want a complete meal at a great price. We came here for dinner and everything exceeded expectations.
Another thing that stood out, aside from the food, was the care and attention from the chef. It’s clear that he pays attention to his customers and takes pride in making sure everyone has a great experience, which adds so much to the atmosphere. The service overall was warm, attentive, and friendly, making the evening even more enjoyable.
I also have to mention the ginger — it was excellent, fresh, and had just the right flavor, which I personally loved. It elevated the sushi perfectly and showed the thoughtfulness that goes into the small details here.
Overall, this restaurant is a real gem. From the fresh and delicious sushi to the beautifully cut avocado, the attentive chef, excellent service, and even the little touches like the quality ginger, everything came together to make it a memorable dining experience. “By far the best sushi place I’ve ever been to. Yes, this is an extremely popular place for high quality great tasting sushi, so sometimes the wait is long. The negative comments of people complaining about the wait time and staff are so rude to read, but makes sense for the location in Calabasas. The owner Lina could not be a nicer and cooler host, and the staff works extremely hard to get everyone in and out. The chef’s are extremely cool and very nice to interact with while ordering too. It never hurts to kindly check in on your spot in line while waiting to be seated. Enjoy, can’t wait to come back!

“Such a cute environment. We went around 7pm on a Tuesday and it was pretty empty. We got the jade curry, beef satay, and the west side wontons which were all fire. We also met Pookie herself and she was so sweet. Worth a second visit for sure! I would say new menus or a digital menu would be nice but the menus are cool with the wood and the metal detailing.“
