“I visited for the first time since the shop moved to its new location. There is no signboard for the shop. About five minutes before the reservation time, we were allowed to enter the shop. The interior felt like a very traditional Japanese sushi restaurant, with wooden decor. There are six seats for each chef, and we enjoyed our meal while having pleasant conversations with the chef and other customers.
We chose a course that included sake tasting, featuring quite rare Japanese sake, which made it feel very special. The sushi’s flavor was incredibly authentic, with about 90% of the ingredients sourced from Japan, and we were extremely satisfied with it. Since it was a reservation for a special occasion, we also received a message card from the staff, which made the day very heartwarming. The atmosphere, the taste, and the hospitality were all top-notch, making it a first-class restaurant in every aspect.“

“Some high quality sushi, but highly influenced by the other guests in there since it is so small. Given that it is in the Fairmont, that can be a crapshoot (like the day we went where two of the female guests were a bit tipsy, super ornery, and loud - overshadowing our experience).“

Staff is profesdional and courteous, food is exceptionally good, and atmosphere is light, friendly, with nice playlist on the background. They also have a small TV for sports and events. I totally enjoyed this place.

“I recently visited Mon Roll House Sushi and had an absolutely amazing experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. They went above and beyond to make our visit special, surprising my family member with a delightful birthday celebration that included a beautifully presented dessert and a heartfelt song. The sushi was phenomenal – fresh, expertly crafted, and bursting with flavor. Each bite was a testament to the chefs' skill and dedication. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. We will definitely be returning!“

“I’ve been around the world, and this is literally tied for my favorite sushi spot; sadly the other is in Tokyo.
The portion sizes are LARGE. Often 1 special roll (<$20) is enough for me unless I didn’t eat all day. The quality and flavor, unmatched. The service always friendly.
The only negative I can come up with is sometimes they are slow for dine-in. Which honestly doesn’t bother me as I like to take my time and enjoy the few nights out with my significant other. Also don’t know if they have Wagyu if that’s your flavor for the evening.
Domo arigato gozaimasu!“

“October 2024.
Last night I came for dinner. My friend and I had a quick dinner. She ordered the salmon sushi plate. The presentation was beautiful. Each salmon was described well by the staff. She also ordered an a la carte chicken teriyaki, which she said was very tasty. I ordered the Volcano Ramen at level 2. It was spicy good! I don't think I could handle a level 3, but those who really like spicy hot dishes, go for it. The Volcano consists of ground pork, egg and more. The Volcano Ramen comes in one size, the large bowl, which I wasn't able to finish because I got full. There is a disclaimer on the menu that one cannot take home any leftover ramen. Overall, our dinner was simple and delicious. The staff here are all Japanese and many of the menu items share the origin in Japan where it comes from. This makes Kanpai very authentically Japanese.

I am back after 2 weeks and I brought a new friend!
We both ordered from the Lunch Set menu. There are lots of options during lunch and reasonably priced. Generous portions. The ramen broth is so delicious! The mini donburi bowls are filling! I have had the Unagi/ eel and the Salmon Ikura and both are really really good! The small salad has a wonderful unami dressing and the panacotta dessert is a wonderful palette cleanser.
We both ordered the RAMEN SET and shared a hot sake ( small ) from the Happy Hour menu. We both loved our meal and the shared sake and we will definitely return!
There is a small parking lot in the back. Make sure you read the painted marked spots for Kanpai.
September 2024
My friend stumbled across this authentic Japanese restaurant on Wilshire ( 22nd- 23rd block) and was very impressed! My friend lives part time in Tokyo and part time here in LA. She was reluctant to try this Japanese restaurant because she has high standards of the quality of what Japanese food should taste like!
The menu is vast, but we ordered from the Lunch Menu $20 we both chose a ramen: Miso Soy or Yuzo Shio and then we both chose a Don bowl. She chose the ikura ( salmon eggs) and I chose the Eel. The broth on both were sooooooooooooo tasty and flavorful. This meal comes with a salad with a miso dressing and wonderful panacatta dessert with a berry sauce. YUM YUM YUM!!!
There is also a Happy Hour menu that looked like something to try in the future.
Parking: Small lot in the back. Make sure you park in the Kanpai slots.“

“As the name suggests, it's a 'self served' restaurant, food was great tho. Japanese is my least favorite Asian food. However, I really enjoyed the food. I may be wrong, but I didn't observe any Japanese person in the kitchen or receiving orders, though. I'm just one of these people who like to see the nationality of the restaurant that I visit.“

“Delicious food, great service. The amazing roll was incredible. Staff were super friendly and sweet. Atmosphere was relaxed and fun out in the street seating. We had a party of seven and they had plenty of room for us as well as smaller more intimate tables. Recommend this place very highly.“

“Brother's sushi is the best in all of LA! I've been to brothers many times now and can say that they have the best service, the best fish, the best Japanese dishes, and the best sushi in Los Angeles. They have an amazing friendly service and the food here is top notch for any occasion. I've been here with friends and for date nights. If you're looking for top tier sushi then you must go here. The Santa Monica location is our go-to location. I highly recommend it. Chef Mark is the best and our host Yuki always welcomes us with great hospitality. Thank you Brothers Sushi!!“
