“I went there to see if I could eat there, but it was a take-out restaurant.
However, I ordered delicious food and enjoyed it when I got home.
I was grateful that the friendly staff told me about nearby parks where I could eat and explained things well.
There is also a parking lot, so park comfortably.“

“All orders are pick only. Im very happy to have found this spot. Finding authentic food in the north bay is so hard. I've lived in Tiburon for 2 years now and it's been difficult to find quality, authentic ethnic food. It's tasty and super fast service. I ordered the Sweet & Spicy garlic chicken, green bean beef and garlic noodle. The noodles were pretty bland but the other dishes had a bit of sauce so I drizzled it over the noodles and all the flavors balanced out. The chicken was piping hot (which I love) there was lots of flavor and big chunky pieces of chicken. The green beans still had a nice crunch --soggy veggies are the worst.“

“We had just read the top 100 BayArea restaurants and found the HK Lounge and decided to try it. I am so glad we did. It is one of the best dim sum I have eaten outside Hong Kong., Each item was freshly made, and tasted exactly like the ingredients that are. outlined. We loved the soft shell crab, the duck dumplings, outstanding, and the sticky rice in lotus leaf was beyond any one I have ever had, The restaurant is small but we had a reservation and it was honored in a timely fashion. It can be loud when it is full, we had a later time and it became quiter. The staff was kind and attentive. I can't see going anywhere else but HK Lounge.“

“Excellent Peking Duck but served as only 1 course. Had to wait b20 minutes for our 7:30 reservations. Service was good but not at a professional level. Wine choices are limited but all in all a very good experience and will return when back in the city.“

“We were just walking around and looking for a good place to eat. Stumbled upon this spot. Don't be fooled by the handful of people eating during the mid afternoon time this place was fire! Their food was really good. Bit pricey compared to your regular Chinese food spot. But man it was worth it.
Kid-friendliness: Their staff was very patient with our toddler.“

“We stumbled upon this dumpling place and it exceeded our expectations. The menu is focused on small apps, lots of dumplings (boiled, pan fried, soup, XLB) options. We ordered cucumbers, crab puffs, boiled dumplings, XLB, pot stickers, beef noodle soup. Everything was fresh, well seasoned…it reminded us of my mom’s cooking. We didn’t finish some of our dumplings, brought them home and they tasted great even heated with a microwave.
The atmosphere was easy, unpretentious, family friendly, clean. Service was courteous and prompt. We loved our first visit and will definitely be back to try many more dishes.
They also sell frozen dumplings to cook at home!
Kid-friendliness: Casual environment, clean restaurant, clean restrooms. Kids can watch chefs make dumplings.“

“Silly name but this place has the perfect combination of quality, quantity of food, and price. I get several meals over a few days with the generous servings here without breaking the bank. I’m a vegetarian and there are many meatless options including meatless sesame chicken which tastes spot on with great sauce. The salt & pepper tofu is also well prepared, crispy and delicious. I also recommend the meatless chicken, broccoli with garlic sauce on the side, easily one of my favorites.
You simply can’t go wrong here.“

“Yummy dumpling place on Irving St and the prices are extremely affordable for what they offer! I got a beef noodle soup (non-spicy) and it soothed my soul, super delicious and it has that dark but also tender broth. I also tried the Pork and Napa Cabbage dumpling soup and it was light and filling (12 dumplings in the soup). This spot is great for solo-dining and the service is attentive and friendly.
Parking in the area is pretty hard so do plan ahead!“

“This place is a gem. The owners are sweet, the food is fantastic, and the atmosphere is unique and cozy.
The rice is also yummy here. Big portions, fair price.
10/10 recommend the General Tso Tofu. It’s on the sweet side comparatively, but they can make it spicier on request.“

“Food is excellent here. I ordered the famous fried chicken and deep fried flounder with the same sauce and green beans. It was delicious. I was with a party of 3 so we do share tables. If you’re not into that I would recommend takeout instead.“

“I used to live in SF for a short while and been revisiting Hai Ky for 15 years. I think about the food here a lot - the craft is amazing. It's a regular topic in my group chat.
The broth is restrained but near perfect - the noodles are platonic ideal textures of gloss and chewiness. Glorious, bouncy and well dressed in whatever you get them in. The rice noodles are especially impressive- so fresh and well cooked . The main noodle dish is famous in south china (there's a Netflix china docu) and especially through Thailand Cambodia vietnam and they show the slight inflection of how we eat it in SE Asia. The condiments here are even perfect - just peer into the pristinely sliced chilis perfectly crisp in vinegar brine. Get the special w all the noodles and also the fried fish cake if they still have.
I'm sad to see how abandoned downtown SF and especially Tenderloin feels now on recent visits. A lot of restaurants are barely living anywhere let alone here. I hope selfishly they'll live on for many more years. Support them in all ways- and plz tip all the ppl well. Bless! 🥲“

“OMG THIS CHICKEN SANDWICH. MY GOD, THE CHICKEN SANDWICH. It might’ve been the best chicken sandwich I’ve had in my life, don’t walk, RUN to eat it. I got the umami version, it comes on a bolo bao which is lightly fried on the bottom, the chicken is deeply fried and perfectly crunchy and perfectly crispy and perfectly juicy and that mayo is the perfect amount and complement - have I used the word perfect enough? And putting it on a bolo bao is GENIUS. also got the potstickers sides (good, nothing to write home about) and the malted sundae (great and still not sure what it was - it had some chocolate on it - but it was tasty and I appreciate that it’s in lactose-free oat milk for Asian stomachs).
Service was amazing, they explained the menu and the differences between the sandwiches and entertained my questions about the name. Great vibes. Already trying to scheme how I can make it out there again“

“Dined here on 1-22-25! Recommend by my wife who ate here with a Postal Staff party. Food portions were outstanding and very tasty! All the staff were friendly and very accommodating. Will definitely come back, as it's hard to find good Chinese food with such generous portions!! Looking at the customers , they seemed to be all regulars returning to such a good place to eat! I definitely found a little gold mine, and almost want to be secretive about this place!!
Thanks,
Paul C“

“The dumplings are really tasty. The interior and overall atmosphere are great.
I felt that it was a bit overpriced, and they have only one toilet with a constant line(hence 4 stars).
I can recommend if you not planning to use their bathroom.“

“California-style Cantonese cuisine! I really like the decoration style here, which always makes me feel better when dining here. The golden lotus chandelier and the gold and silver wire lamp are definitely the best decoration! 👍The pastries here are also worth mentioning! Pineapple buns, wife cakes, black sesame banana cakes with miso sugar!“

“This is a nice addition to Clemente Street for spicy hot pot of various varieties. Malatang the numbing Chinese flavor was our draw in to the store, but they have many other versions of soups such as laksa and tom yum. The beef broth was a little weak, but the numbing flavor was quite strong. You pick all of your ingredients and we enjoyed all except we found we didn't like the yam noodles. The staff was really nice and helpful and the interior was modern yet with a little bit of classic Chinese art. Really looking forward to trying this place again and trying the other flavors and ingredients. We are omnivores but we would like to come back and try it with totally vegan soup and ingredients option.“

“Came here for the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and it was incredible. Only giving it four out of five stars because it was missing the fried Thai basil that typically comes with it and also needed the chili powder. Otherwise it was a really delicious snack.“

“Good dumplings. We got the spicy pork and chive dumplings. The chive was a little more than the meat in the dumplings but overall quite good. Also got the dan dan noodles, which I prefer with a little more sichuan peppers and spicier but this was quite good. The onion pancakes were crispy and less oily than other places so overall quite good.
The service was quick and efficient.“

“Came here with my boyfriend and it was a great chill date spot!
Good:
- The value of the family dinner is insane - we got the Hong Kong style and it came with like 5 different dishes
- I liked the eggroll, very crispy and came with a super tasty sauce
- The fried rice was really good
- We ended up with so much food we had another meal to bring home - and for less than $20 each!
- Service was incredibly fast and also they were very nice
Bad:
- It's a bit hectic inside since it gets busy!
Overall, it was such a good deal and the staff were really efficient and nice and would come back!“

“One of my go-to delivery spots. My favorite dishes have to be the Broccoli Chicken and the Sesame Chicken, both of which have super crisp vegetables and a good portion of meat.
They also make a pretty good (and spicy) Kung Pao Chicken and General Tso’s Chicken, and a fairly soupy Kung Pao Three Combo.“

“Decent Chinese skewer place with very reasonable price. I like that each skewer is smaller but there are 5 skewers in each order, so it’s easier to share and try many different things. We tried lamb, beef, chicken thigh, squid and tofu that are all good.
Chicken wing could use more seasoning inside to get rid of the meat flavor.
Highly recommend the bbq eggplant! Crispy and well seasoned with cumin, garlic and other spices. The noodle texture was really good too and felt very fresh.“

“Huge menu, big portions, reasonable prices, and the food is great. I've found it hard to find good salt-and-pepper tofu in the Bay Area so it was great to find that this place makes it very well. The tea they served was also a good one, a jasmine oolong
The one flaw I'll point out is that the dishes came pretty far apart time-wise. The first two were pretty fast and then the last two came out way later, after we had finished the first two
Overall, the menu, portions, prices, and food quality warrant 5 stars“

“Chang’s Kitchen is a hidden gem in San Francisco! Delicious food at an insane value — I highly recommend bringing some friends and splitting the family style combos, which comes out to about $20 per person for an ENORMOUS amount of food.
We got the Cantonese Dinner which had classic fried rice and sweet and sour pork, along with honey walnut shrimp (sooooo good), spring rolls, soup, and more! The fried chicken wings were perfectly crispy too. And the workers are very kind ☺️ Will definitely be back!“

“You have to order the duck ahead of time, or make a duck reservation if you want to eat the tasty duck. We did not know this, and our server was very kind and found us the last duck that was available. It was so delightful- the crispy skin melted in our mouths and the whole experience was great! I would also recommend the green beans and the veggie dumplings, they were also delicious! The whole staff was very kind and we felt very welcomed into the space.“

“The food is very tasty, depending on what u order. The dishes in the clay pot are very flavorful, but the dishes in the lotus leaves were lacking some flavor and sauce. Their veggies were cooked to perfection... Definitely worth a try! My favorite is #3.“

“This is another one of those hole in the wall joints that will always make you come back for more.
The place is nothing to look at, but it is clean, and God the dumplings and the beef brisket noodle soup were unbelievable. It is THE definition of northern Chinese comfort food. The amount of beef brisket in that dark decadent and rich soup was more than you can imagine. Probably the only thing that I have had in the SF area that actually meets the money value. If you couldn't get enough of it and too full to eat more, take the frozen ones home on the way out. Don't order the funky dumplings like Beef and Carrots, stick with the old school Pork and Cabbage, maybe Chives, you can't go wrong there.
There is no alcohol here, the only down side!“

“Excellent ingredients, great broth, spotless everywhere, free drinks an unexpected bonus.
I decided to finally visit this restaurant after seeing it a few times and it did not disappoint. If you don't know what malatang is, you choose a bunch of ingredients and a soup and the staff cooks it for you. Everything looked pretty fresh, but I mostly had beef and lamb with ramen noodles in pork bone broth.
After paying a little under $15, I was on my way to the sauce station when I saw that they also offered water, jasmine tea, and some kind of grapefruit juice drink for free. The tea was hot and not too strong. For the sauce, I chose to mix soy sauce with sesame paste and garlic because it's a reliable combination that works with anything.
My order was brought out about five minutes after I paid. Everything was cooked well. The broccoli had a slight crunch, the fried tofu wasn't soggy, and the ramen was still a little chewy. The meats were all tender. I decided to try the broth and it had a rich flavor on its own.
I finished feeling full and went to the restroom, where I was delighted to see it squeaky clean and smelling fresh.
This is an excellent place to get malatang and the price ($14.99/lb) is comparable to other spots in the city. I'm sure their menu items are good too.“

“A cute little spot with family friendly service, and the service was just amazing! There was a male waiter from Fiji who greeted me and my elderly companion and we were swiftly seated and served without any issues. The Food didn't take long to arrive and it was delicious as expected from what I've heard about the place. Reccomend!!“
