“The high reviews caught my eye. One thing to note is that the food though delicious was a bit too salty. We ordered like 7 dishes to share with 7 people family style but half of the dishes were just way too salty, even for my tastes when I personally enjoy heavily-salted foods. It could be a one-off but I also submitted this review for the free desserts (which is very nice and not too sweet).

Aside from that I would definitely give this restaurant a try again in the future if I hear that their salt levels were better balanced and accounted for.“

“We went to the San Jose location a few years ago, so we were really happy to see them expand to the Mountain View area! The place was packed on a Wednesday night, but everything was still well organized and the food came out surprisingly quickly.

Overall, we had a great experience. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious, but the rice pilaf with lamb shank, stewed mutton soup, and Amina yogurt with almond were the highlights for me. The portions were great and very satisfying.

Service was amazing as well. We’ll absolutely be back for more!“

“We stopped by to get some soup on a cold Friday night and I'm so glad that we did. The soup was absolutely delicious. The noodles brought up childhood memories of my grandma's homemade noodles. The broth was very tasty and there were plenty of vegetables. My boyfriend had steamed buns with pork, he like them a lot. Very reasonably priced. We'll be back.“

“We have not been here in many years. What a pleasant surprise they still deliver the same great quality food and service. And now, they have outside seating too. They still have the traditional carts roaming around the dining room with delicious choices. We liked that the classic dimsum fare was still being served and they do not scrimp on portions, unlike many dimsum places in Millbrae and Daly City. The shu mai was juicy and large, as were the shiu bao. The tofu skin wrap had a lot of filling instead of several layers of tofu skin. The ham suy ko was plump and crisp on the outside but chewing on the inside with a good amount of filling. We came for a late lunch but they were still full. Their service was friendly but brisk and efficient. The place was clean and pleasant. We will be back!“

“A good Chinese restaurant with above average food. We tried the cabbage and pork boiled dumplings, the steamed pork soup dumplings, and the pan fried pork soup dumplings. The pan fried soup dumplings were the best – good flavor, crispy bottoms, and juicy soup inside. The boiled dumplings were only okay. I thought the pork filling for the boiled dumplings was a bit musky, and I found a piece of gristle in one dumpling. The steamed pork soup dumplings could have used more soup but were otherwise fine. We also ordered a side of cucumber salad, which was decent overall but a bit salty and garlicky. The service was brisk and professional. They brought us rice for no extra charge – a nice touch. We thought the atmosphere was pleasant overall, with warm lights and plants.“

“Understated hidden gem on Castro St. I often bring my friends and family here and they love the green beans, the XLBs, and the Shanghai pork fried dumplings. The temperature and skin of the dumplings are always fresh and hot. My favorite spot to go for dumplings, never disappoints.“

“My first time eating at Kirin, and I will definitely be coming back again to try all the other dishes. My personal favorite was the short ribs , but every dish had such a unique and amazing flavor. The perfect amount of spice for the Mongolian chicken, and the marinade for the crab was super savory. No notes, just perfection!“

“AYCE for $20 is the best deal I got. But you must be at least 2 parties. Only opening time to 4p.m.
Variety of vegetables, meats, side dishes and dessert. Quality of meats are good. The pork, lamb, meatballs are my fav.
I tried the Spicy bone broth and house bone broth, both are good. Spicy is not too spicy for me.
Sauce is extra charge but only $2. Soda is refillable. Overall, 10/10 AYCE with the price,but I don’t like the way they do the AYCE for only at least 2 party.“

“I recently visited Lucky Bistros, a Chinese restaurant under new management, and I wanted to share my experience. From what I observed, they’re making genuine efforts to modernize their approach and better serve the community. They still have the same cooks and methods, but they’re clearly committed to improvement and quality.

It’s unfortunate because I feel some competitors may have tried to paint this place in a negative light, possibly through complaints. Despite this, Lucky Bistros is trying hard to create a positive dining experience. When I was there, I noticed some people coming in only to criticize, which felt unfair given how accommodating and attentive the staff was. For example, I saw someone complain about allergies, and even though the staff assured them everything was prepared safely, the customer left without ordering. As someone observing, it seemed the restaurant was doing everything it could to meet people’s needs.

Personally, I had a great experience. I loved the quality of the food and the thoughtful presentation, even down to the containers they used. I believe this restaurant deserves more support from the community. I encourage everyone to give it a chance, and I hope others will spread the word to friends and family.“

I think it totally depends on what you order some things are solid (4 stars) and others are a bit lower

For example, I had kung pao, 3.5 before. Most of the dishes are 3-4 stars. Mongolian beef 3.5

The meat was really good but the broth, to me was ok. I have eaten at other Taiwanese beef noodle places. I just think their broth is better. It is very authentic but the flavor profile is not as tasty to me as other places

The general chicken was good solid 4 stars

“Super busy and popular. The wide selection of exotic meats and self-service can be somewhat intimidating for somebody not familiar with this cuisine (me). But it seems very authentic and clearly a lot of people enjoy it. I got the tom yum soup - very flavorful and generous portions. A great experience overall.“

“Food was great - piping hot and super tasty. I'm a big fan of orange chicken. Sadly the ambience was terrible - one member of staff was on their break and was sat in the middle of the restaurant watching videos on their phone with the sound blasting. As there was also music playing in the restaurant it made for a horrendous noise.“
