“Not only is the food great, and the inside of the restaurant stunning - the owner and staff are just the best! We had a graduation dinner of 40 people scheduled for a dinner downtown that had to be canceled due to protests/curfew. We called last minute to see if Leona’s could take us. We got lucky since it was early it the week. The owner and his team jumped in to accommodate us and were so helpful! We got so lucky. Even though we were a last minute booking, they treated our large group with such care. The staff worked so hard and our evening was perfect! This place is a gem, not only for the fantastic food, but for the hard-working, kind-hearted folks working there. Thank you!“

“Good Japanese foods , many varieties of dishes . The fish grilled sea bass is cooked just perfectly fine . The salad is kinda american Japanese fusion but still good . The carbonara noodle - I don’t really care (It doesn’t really fit with the rest of the dishes) - overall is a great place to enjoy Japanese foods“

“As a lifelong plant-based eater, I’m always excited to find restaurants that truly understand how to create satisfying vegan cuisine, and Planta Cocina absolutely delivers.

My wife and I had a fantastic dinner here and were impressed by the creativity and flavor of every dish.

We started with the Chicken Fried Mushrooms, which were well seasoned and had an incredible crispy coating. The mushrooms themselves were exactly what you want in a great appetizer.

For mains, we shared the cauliflower wings along with the Al Pastor bowl adding the blackened tofu for protein. The cauliflower wings had tender texture with bold flavors, while the Al Pastor bowl with the blackened tofu was well prepared with a mix of spices that made every bite exciting.

Their mocktail offering is also worth highlighting - we sampled the Cosmic Colada which is a must-try if you enjoy tropical flavors, especially pineapple. It was refreshing.

The service was excellent and the atmosphere welcoming. It’s clear the kitchen understands how to build layers of flavor and create dishes that are satisfying and healthy for you. For fellow plant-based diners or anyone curious about vegan cuisine, this place showcases what’s possible when creativity meets quality ingredients. Definitely planning our next visit soon.“

“First: Restaurant has several options for seating - booths outside that are charming, a covered inside garden area with booths and tables which is where we always sit, or inside at the sushi bar, the regular bar, or the inside tables. Second: Staff are delightful - very professional, knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. Third: Food is delicious. We always order the crispy rice with spicy tuna, the yellowtail special and the Tiger King sushi roll. Nobody does these dishes better! Bar creates great drinks. Parking: You can usually find street parking on Rose or a side street if you don't mind walking a block or two.“

“Great sushi place with high quality fish and great service. I would highly recommend the crispy rice with tuna and the Tuna Lemon roll. Fish was fresh and melted in mouth. The hand rolls and nigiri were also great, but I mainly struggled to enjoy certain cut rolls like the Moon Roll and Spicy Salmon roll. While they were still delicious, there was a little too much mayonnaise which made it hard to enjoy. However, other cut rolls, which are not as mayo dense, such as the Tuna Lemon roll, were incredible and flavorful. Overall, I would come back to try the sashimi and other hand rolls. But for the time being, other sushi places with similar price ranges provide equally as favorable rolls with less mayonnaise“

Sushi is a casual restaurant with attentive and friendly servers and sushi chefs. The fish quality is exceptional and fresh. Their delicious miso soup is a MUST TRY! The lunch menu has a wide variety ranging from sushi to bento boxes. Hands down Brothers Sushi is worth the splurge. “Hand roll spot with dry aged fish inside the Citizen Public Market. Came here for dinner with a friend and we both ordered the small set (4 pieces). We were able to replace the lean roll with a different fish. Our server was super nice and we enjoyed our meal. It operates like it’s a sit down spot so you pay after the meal, rather than at the counter like at other stalls in the market.“

The best oysters on the half shell, Uni, yellowtail belly, the seafood salad is really delicious, (as well as their salmon skin salad)! Uonigiri is easily one of the best sushi spots I’ve ever been to. The omakase is incredible — every course feels intentional and beautifully balanced. The sushi chef is not only highly skilled but carries a certain level of class and grace in both his presentation and demeanor. You can tell there’s real pride and artistry behind every piece. The food itself is downright amazing — fresh, perfectly seasoned, and plated like art. I can’t recommend this place enough.

I have lived in Santa Monica for 2 years now and this was my first time - some of the best food I have eaten since living in LA. Very fresh fish and unique flavor profiles.
