“Can't give this place enough stars. Could be because it was our third stop of the day, but, the Transcendentalist was a recommendation of a wine educator from another winery. This wine did not disappoint and the PickPocket, opened 2 days later, did not disappoint. Highly recommend. will be our first stop on the next wine escapade.“

Biddle Ranch Vineyard Winery • $$
2050 Biddle Ranch Rd, San Luis Obispo - 5.26 miles

“We love coming to Biddle Ranch! After coming here with a friend who was a member, we fell in love with the olive trees in the sitting area and the amazing wine. The staff is always very friendly and prompt, even on busy weekends. Biddle Ranch also allows you to rent out the venue after hours and we took advantage of this to have a small get together with come clients while our favorite central coast band played some tunes. All in all, it is our favorite vineyard in SLO Cal and we are proud to bring out of towners in for a tasting.“

Sextant Wines Wineries • $$
1653 Maxwellton St, San Luis Obispo - 4.43 miles

“A highlight of our trip to the Central Coast! While it doesn't have a stunning view, it is a pretty, rustic, relaxing and charming place. Excellent wine! Excellent service too - nice people! What we especially like about Sextant is that instead of just serving bread or cheeses, you can actually get a meal here - and the food is very good - highly recommend!“

Wolff Vineyards Wineries • $$
6238 Orcutt Rd, San Luis Obispo - 6.01 miles

“One of the first environmentally sustainable in practice (SIP) wineries in the Edna Valley area, on a stunningly beautiful estate. When driving in, we almost thought this could be south France or Tuscany. The Edna Valley area is known for its Pinot Noir but surprisingly we fell in love with their award-winning riesling and syrah. Their riesling was extremely fragrant, reminiscent of honey and roses, and was on the drier side like what they make in Alsace, France. The syrah was not as bold as what I had expected but I find it actually more palatable and very enjoyable - it will pair well with some grilled lamb. Their sparkly wines were exceptional as well. The best part of all is that these wines are all pesticide free. With their sustainability practice, growing the grapes only use about half amount of the water that is normally needed. We were lucky to briefly meet the owner who is originally from France and clearly a visionary in artisan wine making. The tasting and dining area was beautiful, surrounded by flowers and wild birds, and the staff were all super friendly and attentive. What we love about these wineries in the Central Coast area is that they are not crowded with tourists like those in Napa and Sonoma but the wines are really top notch - you can really taste the terroir in the wines, while sitting in the gorgeous gardens, feeling the subtle ocean air that gently blows through the scenic rolling hills. What an amazing experience!“

“We loved this winery so much we ended up going back a second day to just sit and drink glasses of wine. My husband said it is the best pinot noir he has ever had. I loved the sparkling wine and rose flight. Tim was the best. We really appreciated his kindness and explanations of the wines and winery.“

“An absolutely wonderful wine tasting. They have a cute little tasting room to enjoy your wine. Loved all their wines they had to offer - the Syrah and the NV Eclipse were our favorites, and we took home a bottle of each. Evan was super friendly and knowledgeable during our tasting. They also offer a small food menu, and the Shuck Shack Oysters are the best delicious addition to your wine tastings. Overall, a very enjoyable time wine tasting. Highly recommend, and we are looking forward to coming back.“

Timbre Winery Tasting Room Winery • $$
225 E Branch St, Arroyo Grande - 3.85 miles

“Lovely fall day to taste through of our fall club shipment. Denise was our server and she was/is sweet as ever and very knowledgeable about the wines produced here. Josh the winemaker is producing more solid wines now and they've invested in champagne making equipment and the sparkling Chard from Riverbench vineyard is nice. We're also fans of the music/band themed names for the wines.“

Piedra Creek Winery Winery • $
6425 Mira Cielo, San Luis Obispo - 4.82 miles

“Love, love, love! Hidden gem for sure! My friends and I were greeted by the family dog and each a glass if wine just after parking. We were given a brief introduction to the estate and history (oldest vineyard in the Edna Valley). With only three tables, it was intimate and absolutely lovely. The matriarch of the family, whose home is located there, came out and chatted with us all for a few minutes. She was very sweet and kind. I appreciated their bottles not being overly expensive. Considering they have only been open to the public for a couple of years, I do hope in the future they install a proper restroom (currently a port-a-potty) and add food items (i.e, cheese, chocolates) to pair with the wine.“

Dunites Wine Company Winery •
1133 Garden St, San Luis Obispo - 9.48 miles

“Great little tasting spot in the middle of SLO! They have all natural wines, and the manager Steve will talk you through all the options. I had a glass of the brut cider (dry and delightful), and tastes of the Syrah-Grenache (my fav) and Pinot noir (Steve's rec). There are a few tables outside - in front and out back - as well as indoor seating. Some small snacks on the menu, but was also told I could bring my own food in if wanted. Definitely will be back for a glass or more when I come back to town.“
