“Staff seats you quick. The prices are fair, but the portions is where it is. Other Vietnamese restaurants have popped up, no offence, but they seem to cater to the American taste bud, cost more for smaller portions, and are tastewise alright. A lot of Asian restaurants cater to a broughter palette now, have a fusion look and their food. Vietnamese restaurants like this take you back to the 90s and early 00s. The music is feint, and food rice plates remind me of food taste and portions of my Vietnamese American friend's home. Please support these Family run businesses.“

We’ve been ordering from Hawking Bird for the last year - it’s our go-to spot for delicious fried chicken and flavorful garlic noodles. Our standard order: the Tanya Special. This ingenious dish focused on my favorite Hawking Bird offerings with none of the fluff. Imagine my disappointment when I learned this special was removed from the menu! Yes, you can alter the fried chicken bowl (sub noodles, remove the cucumber/cilantro/mint) but Tanya was generous, providing a larger portion size that cannot be recreated. Times are tough, and Miss Tanya provided some relief.

“The food on the very limited menu is tasty, albeit not healthy. I do like that they use Mary’s organic chicken but even that is super fatty. The signature beef dish looked delicious and very decadent but at over $80 and piled high with cheese and toppings, it serves 4 and it’s not my jam. Go if you just want a lot of food generally pretty inexpensive. It’s like $25 a person and tasty, just too unhealthy and casual for me.“

We stopped by Do-Re-Mi Onigiri while exploring Chinatown after visiting Alcatraz, and I’m glad we did. The staff was very welcoming and helpful with ordering, even helping me save some money.

We tried the tuna, chicken teriyaki, pork, and crab onigiri. Everything was fresh and good, but the tuna and crab were definitely my favorites. My cousin had the pork and said it was a must-try.

The staff even showed us how to properly open the onigiri since it was our first time. I also asked for a drink recommendation and was given a Miku-Chu, which was amazing.

Great food, friendly service, and definitely a place I’d visit again next time I’m in San Francisco.“

“Freshroll is one of my favorite places to eat in Berkeley. For under $7, you get a HUGE Spring Roll with a bunch of fillings and your choice of meat (or no meat). $1 extra for avocado (worth it) and you can also get an extra side of sauce, but the roll does come with sauce. I cannot recommend the chicken enough. It is the only warm thing about the roll but it is highly seasoned and delicious. These folks get your food out insanely fast and I have been here MANY times and have always received consistent, fresh food.“

Contrary to some reviews, I do not find staff to be rude, in fact they are friendly and approachable, esp when you are return customer. Husband and wife run the place, they are there all the time, work hard, long hours to make a living. I would recommend to anyone looking for a family restaurant with authentic Chinese cuisine!“

“This is a hidden gem.. also incredibly fresh and so cheap. 3$ for veg rolls. The owner is not that friendly or warm at all and pretty annoying to interact with but I think that the quality of the food is so good that she is completely entitled to act that way. If I was the owner of an old sushi shop on Solano Ave I would most likely act that way too.“

We ordered sweet and sour shrimp (requested spicy) and stir fried tofu, both with fried rice, and a side of veggie egg rolls. The food was served fresh and hot. “Our family hosted a 62nd Bday party at the lovely Zaiqa Indian and Pakistani Restaurant Banquet Hall. This place truly deserves 5 star plus rating. Excellent experience dealing with the restaurant owner Ron. All of his staff made us feel very welcomed and were very accommodating during our event.
