“Best Xiao Long Bao i’ve ever had in my life. The soup is flavourful without being heavy, or oily. The pork inside is generous and tender. The wrapper is clearly fresh and handmade with care. I got delivery so my expectations were low, i’ll be honest but holy… these were spectacular. 5/5. I’ve had all sorts of XLB through the city of SF all the way back to the east coast, i’ve had Din Tai Fung… and this place beats them all. I’ll be ordering again this weekend for sure.“

“Chef Azalina's restaurant in San Francisco's Tenderloin district offers an exceptional dining experience that goes beyond just food. It's a testament to passion, perseverance, and community engagement.
The cuisine is remarkable, showcasing meticulous attention to detail in both flavor and presentation. Each dish demonstrates craftsmanship, with a harmonious blend of tastes that speaks to the chef's skill. The menu features unique ingredients, including an herb reminiscent of Fruit Loops cereal. I'm not going to write too much about food because I think it's borderline just pointless to describe food in words.
What sets this establishment apart is Chef Azalina's commitment to her craft and community. She maintains close relationships with her suppliers, including fisherwomen from Half Moon Bay, ensuring the highest quality ingredients and supporting local producers. I'm convinced that if there were 1000 more Azalinas in SF, this would be the greatest city on earth.
After my meal, I had the privilege of speaking with Chef Azalina for two hours. She shared fascinating stories about her relationship with food, the inspirations behind each course, and her experience as a restaurant owner in the Tenderloin. Her passion for culinary arts and dedication to her community were obvious.
Chef Azalina also opened up about the challenges of operating in the Tenderloin. Many potential patrons unfairly dismiss her restaurant due to its location, overlooking the exceptional culinary experience it offers. Despite this, she remains committed to her vision and to making a positive impact in the neighborhood. Her presence has contributed to the neighborhood's revitalization, demonstrating how a restaurant can be a force for community improvement.
Azalina offers not just a meal, but an experience that combines culinary excellence with personal passion and community engagement. It's a must-visit for those seeking innovative, thoughtfully prepared cuisine in San Francisco, and a shining example of how food can transcend stereotypes and transform communities.“

“Mashita Galbi Jjim, located on Polk Street in San Francisco, is a cozy Korean eatery known for its signature dish, the galbi jjim (braised short ribs). This dish, priced at $66, is a standout. It features tender short ribs served in a bubbling pot, accompanied by carrots, tteokbokki (Korean rice cakes), and a melted cheese topping caramelized with a blowtorch. It’s hearty and perfect for sharing, as one order easily feeds three to four people. The plump mandu (dumplings) are also recommended as a complementary side dish.
The atmosphere is informal, making it a great spot for casual dinners. However, the restaurant’s popularity can result in wait times, particularly during peak hours, such as evenings and weekends. Some patrons have noted slower service during busy periods but praised the staff's friendly demeanor despite being overwhelmed. The interior is compact but comfortable, with simple yet functional decor.
Mashita Galbi Jjim is praised for its authentic flavors and high-quality ingredients. Other menu options include pork tonkatsu and beef plates, but the galbi jjim remains the star. For those seeking a satisfying, shareable meal with bold Korean flavors, this restaurant is a solid choice. If planning to visit during dinner hours, arriving early or expecting a wait is advised.
While some diners have commented on service challenges during peak times, the generous portions and flavorful dishes make it a must-visit for fans of Korean cuisine.“

“Decent place to try different Nepalese food. Being and Indian I don’t know if it’s my higher expectations from food that my country makes but if they were a Nepalese take on them they were a good shot. I’d say 4 stars is where it’s at for me after having been there 2 times already. My girlfriend loves the food there though so we might go again (and I shall try and keep this updated)
Their Naans are oh so fresh though - amazing!“

“Came for brunch and thought it was cute and tasty! We came here around opening time on a Saturday and there was no line and plenty of seating.
I don’t think this place will beat out a no frills place that just does brunch items well but for a fusion-y, themed brunch place I think it’s definitely one of the top ones in the city.
I got the sando Benedict and my husband got the rancheros. I definitely thought mine was the better of the two and he somewhat agreed.“

“Tito was a wonderful server. He was very accommodating. We had one person in our group who has dietary restrictions. The restaurant is very careful with GF foods, and all dishes were wonderful. The tea leaf salad was scrumptious and the chicken curry superb. We will be back! Thank you-“

“This is just as bomb as it was years ago when I lived here. Get the garlic edamame. I admit I am biased. I prefer Asian food to all other food. I lived in Asia.. The banh mi sandwich is on point. The noodles are all delicious . Tim is a great server. I’m a little high maintenance. By little I mean a lot. He was super patient with me and accommodating. Thanks Tim!“

“Been coming since they first open and I know and read it’s hit or miss on service depends on the day and person working but for my years of experience I’ve always enjoyed it. As long they get the usual food I order right and on time, on top of that food and dessert is good than this place is a four star for me. They don’t need to check on us or serve us like kings or queens because it’s a Hong Kong dessert house people. It’s not Gary danko with a $$$$ sign. The price is good. I usually get the egg puff which is better than all egg puff location even eggette. The HK milk tea is good but not as good as honk kong, fried garlic chicken wings, soy sauce wings, ham egg sandwich and mix fruits. Oh their green tea ice cream is a no no but vanilla is fine. They use the same batter for the waffle as the egg puff which is so yummy! Moving on that’s my usual order which has kept me going here for years. Wish they open earlier but I know they cater to the late people.“

“Group of four, we got the Mini Pan Fried Pork Bun with Soda (*drink, soy milk); pork, Mushroom and shepherd's purse wonton (soup form); steamed soup Xiao Long Bao (XLB); Chinese burrito with beef and shredded pork, no cilantro; Wagyu dumpling; Beancurd jelly, sweet.
I didn't like the soy milk and beancurd jelly because we needed to add sugar ourselves and both drink and dessert was cold so how would the sugar even melt? I don't think I liked the shepherd's purse...but everything else was good! I highly recommend getting the Chinese burrito with beef and shredded pork! Eat immediately if you took it to go so the crunchy middle is crunchy!
The staff was nice and pleasant. They asked what we would like to order a bit before we could sit (we were waiting for a table to be cleaned). The place felt small and cozy but the wait wasn't that bad, about 20-minutes with three other groups in front of us. It really depends on when you arrive.“

“This place is fantastic. The food was incredible and was exactly what you want when you think to yourself “I want some dumplings”. We had the chicken and pork xiao long bao, Brussel sprouts, green onion pancakes, ginger and scallion noodles, bbq pork steamed dumplings, and siu mai. Of course had to finish it off with sesame balls which were amazing. Everything was superb and came out piping hot. Service was unbelievably fast. Our server forgot our tea and the dipping vinegar but when I mentioned it, it was quickly remedied. I highly recommend stopping in!!“

“Chicken was very tender & delicious. I loved that they offered okra (came with some shrimp too). Pot stickers were just ok. The kitchen is open late (think she said 12:30am). We ate there about 9:30pm after a flight home, and there were plenty of other tables eating late on a Sunday night. Full bar & beer on tap. Great late night spot & veggie options.
Parking: We got there late, and the parking lot nearby was free at the time (after 8pm?). There's also street parking.“
“The Burma Love team has knocked another one out of the park with Kayah and we were already fans of their other restaurants! Every dish we have ever tried is a winner and it is no different at Kayah.
The food was delicious, flavorful, and unique. The ceviche was delicate, light, and a lovely balance of tangy and savory flavors. The calamari was not breaded and fried but grilled with a touch of chili crunch to give it that crispy texture--yum! The split pea fritters were an unexpected favorite melding sweetness and heat. The fried prawns were lightly breaded, spicy, and flavorful and the puffed rice under the shrimp was a welcome crispy treat. The platha was as good as ever. Off the charcoal grill, we enjoyed the very delicious baby trumpet mushrooms and ribeye wagyu skewers--our server recommended them and they are now a must! The fiery mango spicy tequila cocktail was on point.
The staff were attentive, prompt, and courteous and the overall service was excellent. The ambience and design of the restaurant are inviting and aesthetic, effortlessly and harmoniously blending zen and cool vibes.
We dined on the outdoor patio and it's fun being right on the West Plaza of Chase Center. I highly recommend Kayah and look forward to our next dining experience there!“

“Wow, really like the food. Visited this area for my wife's company event and found they have less spicier vegetarian option. After my kids loving the noodles, we ordered more . I really liked my spicy chicken noodle too. The quantity is good for the price we pay for. Definitely visit it again !!“

“This place is wonderful! I've tried almost everything on the menu, standout items are xiaolongbao, fresh cucumber salad, zha-jiang noodles, and spicy wontons. All of the vegetable dishes are good, but the spicy green beans are my favorite. I live in the neighborhood so I go every week, one of the best places in linda mar.“

“tldr; this place is better than Berma Love.
It may look like just another lunch place in the design district, but it's really a hidden gem. The food is delicious. The flavors are subtle and complex. If you are in the neighborhood, give them a try!!
Edit: came back and had the garlic eggplant, coconut rice, and platha with coconut chicken dip. Everything was delicious, but the coconut dip was divine!!! It's like a party in my mouth. An absolute must have.“

“This is one of the few go-to restaurants in my neighborhood. Most of the food is good, but during my last visit, I tried the lamb curry, which I regretted. It was a little too salty and the lamb meat was over-cooked and dry (despite the sauce). The brown rice I ordered on the side was undercooked and many of the grains were hard. Another issue for me is that sometimes the little steel containers of syrup that comes with the pancakes seems like they have been sitting out in the open for a long time because the top surface start to solidify. Because most of my previous experiences were good or okay, I will continue to come here.“

“I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place yet as I thought I did.
This is probably one of the best places for Dumplings (水饺) because they are delicious here. The price is decent and you get to see them making them because someone is always making them nonstop.
Service is good enough but the place is very small and parking can get annoying unless you get lucky and found parking right outside.
However food wise I like almost all the options because the dumplings are very good and they are fresh. There are many different options so I suggest you go with a couple of people so you get to try multiple choices.“

“A Chinese friend introduced to this place many, many years ago, rediscovered it recently. Been there a number of times since, food good, prices low. Contrary to some reviews, I do not find staff to be rude, in fact they are friendly and approachable, esp when you are return customer. Husband and wife run the place, they are there all the time, work hard, long hours to make a living. I would recommend to anyone looking for a family restaurant with authentic Chinese cuisine!“

“We love Dumpling Time! We’ve been a handful of times, and love everything on the menu with a favorite being the shrimp toast - truly an awesome and unique balance of flavors
The service team at Dumpling time are so kind, Liz is quick to help with any special requests and Jose makes some awesome drinks, full of personality and flavor, making every meal a memorable night. Thank you Cindy and team for your hospitality and welcome to us!“
“So this really is noodle soup vending machine! You push a few buttons and your piping hot noodle soup comes out of a slot in the box a minute later. And you know what? The food is surprisingly decent! So, while I would probably rate the food quality 3 stars overall, I'm giving this experience an extra star purely for the novelty and entertainment value.\n\nI ordered a black garlic ramen noodle soup and it was quite good! The noodles were reasonably springy and while the broth was a bit watery, it was flavored properly. The pork slices were surprisingly decent!\n\nAnd at $12 per bowl, you're not going to break the bank here!\n“

“Actually I was not mindful and I came in less than 10 mins to close and he still let me order Shanghai dumplings.
Price wise it’s average, at 8 for $11.95. Shanghai dumplings were hot and soupy but the texture of the skin was ok. Overall taste was decent, I would say if Costco was an 2.5/5, this was 4/5. Owner was nice and straightforward.“

“We came here for lunch. It was fully decorated with the Halloween theme. It was not that busy, and we were seated right away. The ordering is using QR code on the table. You also pay right away. You can keep the tap open or close it. They automatically charge 15% granularity fee.We ordered Lap mei, which is clay pot rice with preserved pork and chinese sausage. It takes about 15 to 18 min for the food since the rice is cooked based on order. The second order was beef stew and tendon Biang Biang noofle soup. Both are yummy. The beef and tendon are tender, and noodles are chewy. Sooup is delicious. The claypot is also yummy. One downside is that it is too oily. Service is good. My advice is to come early. When we leave, the restaurant is full and so many people are waiting outside. Parking is limited on the premise, but you can park on the street.“
