“Walked in not expecting much but was greeted lovingly by a sweet family running shop by themselves. They seemed delighted that we were eating In and the small homey setting really felt like they inviting us to sit at their table. The spam masubi was incredible, served fresh, with a sweet sauce, and a little touch of pork sung in there made all the difference. I got the wagyu beef with egg meal. It also came with that signature sauce and the meat was perfectly seasoned and tender. As we left, packing up the leftovers off the heaping plates of food, the father ran out to give us some extra sauce and make sure we didn’t leave without knowing how much we were appreciated. The incredible food and the family’s hospitality truly made it feel like I was eating a home cooked meal with my grandparents and I would love to come back and support them more!“

“Defintely Poke'd Out after the lunch. Ordering method is broken down nicely and listed down well in the menu. It goes like Base + Poke + Mix-in + Sauce + Add-ons. I have chosen the medium sized bowl where I got 4 scoops of poke instead of mentioned 3, all the sizes get additional scoop as complementary. Chose couple of miso shrimp and spicy crab(it was spicy indeed) scoops. Tofu medley was not that great, tough to satisfy vegetarians or vegans. I felt the quantity was overwhelming for one person, small would be more than enough. Priced around $20 for the medium, it's on the expensive side, but the diverse selections make it recommendable. Note that it’s only a to-go restaurant.“

“Our party of Nine was lucky enough to get a semi private room with a door that closed because the music was so loud, we could hardly hear each other speak. Our servers were attentive and professional! The menu was full of items for everyone! Everyone had a great time and will definitely be back!“

“Delicious food, quiet atmosphere, attentive staff. We went on a cold rainy weeknight, so the Tomato/Basil soup really hit the spot. The sole has a nice texture and cooked just right. The seared sole has a slight crispness on the outside and soft flakiness inside. We will definitely be back.“

“Simply the best pho on the Peninsula! This is a very casual restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and staff and a video screen that shows authentic food preparation scenes from Vietnam. The service can at times be a little overwhelmed, because at dinner times they tend to be a little busy. But they are always pleasant and the food is fantastic and a good value at today's prices.“

“Our take-out fish and chips were disappointing. Chips were undercooked and not crisp. The fish under the brown hard crust was OK but the whole presentation was unlike any light crispy dish our family has ever had as fish and chips. Not a repeat meal for us.“

“I recommend Tacos Y MARISCOS El GORDO because of their yummy delicious SHRIMP tacos are my favorite plus I’ve had their Quesadilla and Mexican style shrimp cocktail… I like the fact that their children whom are teenagers work part time whom are polite and friendly like their parents“

“We had an absolutely lovely experience here! Came for my boyfriend’s birthday, everyone was friendly and attentive. Fantastic high end ambience. The food was almost too beautiful to eat and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed our entrees. One of our guests said it was the best spaghetti he had ever had! The mushroom risotto was perfection. I had the Chilean sea bass and WOW! The salmon was also amazing. The other two guests had roasted chicken and hangar steak… I didn’t get to try them but they looked amazing and everyone cleaned their plate even though we were full lol! We will absolutely be back. “What a find! On our way to international SFO flight, stopped in San Mateo and were delighted by the food, ambience and especially the hosts at La Ronda. The small touches like the crisp tablecloths and napkins, the warm welcome ... and then there's the food. Warm bread served with tasty butter and jalapeno sauce followed by the calamari and lomo saltado. Topped off by arroz con leche. What a beautiful late lunch. Thank you La Ronda for a fun food experience. We will make it a point to return.“

“Not many restaurants open at 7 am, so I just chose Neal's. First time I have been asked if I wanted my corned beef hash and hash browns crispy. Usually I would mention it when ordering.

I prefer the corned beef beef bits a little bigger, but at least it didn't have a disproportionate amount of potatoes. The corned beef hash and the hash browns came very crispy, potato chip crispy. 😋

“Still the best kept secret in San Mateo. I’m moving tomorrow and this food is what I’m going to miss the most. The portions are generous, the price is affordable, the service can’t be beat. Cash only. Small parking lot. Family owned and operated. The carne asada is delicious! Actually I haven’t had a bad meal here. Take away is available. You won't be disappointed . “I ate there last week for the first time in several years. The menu is large and many different styles of food. I had the Prime Rib and it was EXCELLENT. There was 2 others in my party and they were equally impressed. Another benefit is that there are no parking problems. I will definitely eat there again.“
