“The parihuela de mariscos, anticuchos, tallarines verdes con carne and pescado sudado were all good, well served plates. The empanada the day I went there was not well prepared… the chicha morada was very good and the dessert lucuma ice cream was excellent.“

“We had an absolutely lovely experience here! Came for my boyfriend’s birthday, everyone was friendly and attentive. Fantastic high end ambience. The food was almost too beautiful to eat and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed our entrees. One of our guests said it was the best spaghetti he had ever had! The mushroom risotto was perfection. I had the Chilean sea bass and WOW! The salmon was also amazing. The other two guests had roasted chicken and hangar steak… I didn’t get to try them but they looked amazing and everyone cleaned their plate even though we were full lol! We will absolutely be back. Highly recommend!! 5 stars ⭐️“

“Still the best kept secret in San Mateo. I’m moving tomorrow and this food is what I’m going to miss the most. The portions are generous, the price is affordable, the service can’t be beat. Cash only. Small parking lot. Family owned and operated. The carne asada is delicious! Actually I haven’t had a bad meal here. Take away is available. You won't be disappointed . Skip the la cumbre and pancho villa. Come get the best!“

“The Super Shrimp Burrito is the best thing on the menu, idk what the chef does back there but he’s amazing. I literally come here maybe once every 2-3 weeks just because it’s so good. best thing to do is get chips and put it in the burrito. Fire!!!“

“Great food. Fantastic value. Don’t tell people, it’s already too popular 😃“
“This place is really great! It’s much better than Nijiya. I wish I knew about this place sooner. I don’t think they accept food stamps, but they’re also a small business (and not a corporate Japanese grocery store). I know it’s not the same as the also-cool Mexican grocery store near the Caltrain station that accepts food stamps, but people are trying. I don’t know what happened to the store, but there was a break in and they called the kops. This was after 2023, but I did ask the owner if they wanted me to reach out to some friends. I know that sounds sketchy, now that I’m writing it out. But I was trying to say that I was going to ask people to non-violently talk to people, like the talking circles that native people use. You can see an example of that on the “reservation dogs” tv show in season 1 (it’s the last episode of the season). Also, the people in the “this fool” comedy are Mexican and/or latine (some of them are not, so there’s diversity) and they also non-violently communicate with people too. That’s why, people in the community - who are not trying to get anything from anyone - should ask people, and it should be a team of people with diverse experiences who understand cultural differences. The people in this town have seen me around, and they know I’m not a drifter Whos just passing through (which is not all that different from a tourist). So I pray for the “tourists” and/or “drifters” because it doesn’t matter how much money or how little money they have: it’s not ok to harm anybody.“

“Came here for dinner and ordered the special for two. We were seated right away, which is always a great start. The service stood out—our hostess was incredibly friendly and attentive, checking in on us throughout the meal.
Food came out quickly. The soup wasn’t quite my personal style, but the entrees more than made up for it—everything tasted fresh, well-cooked, and flavorful, and the meat was especially tender.
Overall, a really pleasant experience with warm service and solid dishes. Would definitely come back!“

“Ordered California Super Nachos with Cabeza to go ($13.68 after tax), which came with free chips. I will say the fries weren't crispy and the guacamole is watery, but this was phenomenal. The meat was so tender and flavorful, and it came with all three salsas which were great (the spicy one is no joke though). The phone orders cut out a lot and it can be a bit hard if you don't speak Spanish, but just try to speak clearly and it will be fine. Really freaking good stuff for the price point.“

“A delicious breakfast! I ordered menudo, refried beans with fresh cheese, machaca (shredded dried beef), and my favorite jasmine tea. The prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes. 100% recommended, whether you're looking for a traditional Mexican- Sinaloense breakfast or some delicious seafood. Un desayuno riquísimo en San Mateo. Ordené menudo, frijoles puercos con queso fresco, machaca, y no podía faltar el té de jazmín. Los precios son muy accessibles para las porciones. Recomendados al 100. Ya sea por un desayuno sinaloense tradicional o unos deliciosos mariscos.“

“Great Indian place! The man in front was very nice, excellent service. I really like that food here is significantly less oily than other places. Chicken tikka masala did not have too much cream. Will try to return for the lunch buffet :)“

“Delicious food, and great value. Some areas for improvement: the music is way too loud and really random (recent pop music mixed with 1960’s old music), and the service is slow because only 1 woman is waitressing all the food tables plus working the kitchen and handling final payments, while the other person is useless and does nothing. Please lower the music.“

“I had eaten at this Peking-style cuisine before when I was in the Bay Area, and this time I came back after they had moved to a bigger location. The owner is quite young, but you can tell he really cares about the food and the customers. He was very patient and explained the dishes to us in detail.
What impressed me most is that the food feels very authentic. The owner told us that his father started cooking at a very young age in China, and many of the dishes here are based on his father’s long-time recipes and experience. You can really taste that kind of traditional Beijing flavor.
Their smoked chicken is definitely one of the signature dishes. It is not something you can easily find at many other restaurants, and it was very well done, flavorful but not too salty. The owner said they specially source smaller young chickens from a farm for this dish, and it is a recipe his father has been making for many years. I highly recommend trying it.
The pork trotters were also excellent — fresh, tender, and not overly salty. The lamb dishes and other Beijing-style dishes were very solid as well. Overall, I feel like this is the kind of place where it is hard to order wrong if you like authentic northern Chinese or Beijing food.
The location is not super obvious from the outside, but they have parking in the lot, so that makes things much easier. It also feels like many customers are regulars who already know this place.“

“Came on Father's day with a reservation and we're seating right away. Space is large with big tables.
Service can be insanely slow. I really don't think there are enough servers for the entire restaurant.
The food is good. Everything comes out HOT. I definitely recommend ordering a bunch for your first round so that you can feast when it comes. All of the sides and appetizers come out at similar times.
Get the wings! So good. I also really liked the oysters. The garlic noodles are another must.“

“Fresh authentic Cantonese food. Always come back to here when we crave BBQ pork, porridge, traditional Cantonese rice dishes. Affordable, but that would mean service would take some time. I would call at least 45 minutes in advance to order takeout because it can get busy sometimes. They have fresh fish on the menu even, and weekday specials like pineapple buns.
Great spot for gluten free and dairy free options with all the porridge and rice dishes.“

“La sopa súper deliciosa, sin embargo no ofrecen bebidas al momento de tomar la orden. Aunque si hay bebidas gaseosas y demás no nos ofrecieron nada de eso, las raciones son algo pequeñas.“
