“Lovely experience at Avatars. GF had a salad with plain chicken while I had their famous salmon enchiladas. I think the tangy nature of the sauce comes from a reduced curry mix, salt and lime pickle. The hybrid Mexican / Indian theme is something that’s becoming bigger and bigger in the Bay. Good friendly service.Dietary restrictions: They can custom the order to your needs.“
“One of the best dumplings I've tried! The line on weekends lunch wasn't too bad, it was about 30min ish. Everything was just on point! I was shocked to see the XLB to be see through but yet it wouldn't break. My favorite was the mala spicy XLB, the soup was delicious with just a little bit of a kick of the numbing spicy flavor! The spicy red chili dumpling was filled with the nutty flavor of peanut with just a dap of chili oil for the fragrance. Hands down one of the best dumpling places that I wouldn't mind waiting in line for~“
“I could go on and on about this spot. It was fantastic. All around wonderful except there is only 1 bathroom and when it's busy...well don't wait til the last minute to pee or there may be a line??♀️ cannot wait to go back!!!Vegetarian options: Everything we ordered was very well balanced. Proportions we're good for 2 to share depending on how hungry you are I guess, we shared 4 dishes and we're stoked with everything“
“The food here was really good: the Grilled Beef Curry and the Umami Spicy Shrimp stood out for me, while the Pork Larb, Squid with Salted Egg Sauce, and Brussels Sprouts were above average as well. Fried chicken was just ok in terms of flavor, but was really crispy, which I liked. Staff provided good service, atmosphere was good for conversation, and the prices were reasonable. The only downside is that serving sizes were quite small, and my recommendation is to get a good amount of rice to pair with the dishes. 5 out of 5.“
“I grew up in a Chinese restaurant so my bar for any kind of Chinese food is very high. There are rarely ever any Chinese restaurants that I'd return to, never mind feel confident in bringing other people with me... this is one of those rare gems. Not only is the food fantastic, but the service has been really nice. I love this place and would recommend a visit to try any of their items. My favorites are the pan fried pork juicy bao, braised beef noodle soup, green beans, and pig ears. All of their recipes are super authentic.“
“The food was good, but definitely not worth the price tag, with the exception of the uni toast (10/10), the pasta, and the oysters. The steak tartare barely tasted like steak, and nothing other than the uni was worth coming back for. Dessert was pretty good though. Ambiance was also very casual, but not “
“Lovely little restaurant, amazing place for bento boxes. We tried a chicken katsu bento with a spicy tuna roll, edamame, wakame, gyoza and white rice. The chicken was made to perfection, moist on the inside and not dry at all. We tried boba strawberry milk and Thai iced tea which were great as well. The owner Yoyo was extremely friendly and accommodating, she is a ray of sunshine that makes this restaurant an absolute gem of a place that you'd want to visit again and again.“
“The food was a great mix of Latin and Cantonese flavors. It brought back many childhood memories of Chinese food in Northern Mexico while growing up. The owner was extremely warm and welcoming in sharing her cuisine that is from her home and heart.“
“At the end of the meal, one dish stood out as something truly special--the charred cabbage salad. The name is totally not inspiring, right? But trust our whole table of foodies that you will want to order this and have an entire order to yourself. I wouldn't ruin the surprise beyond that. Another dish that's yummy is their shrimp/pork toast. 2 toasts per order. I was a bit incensed the restaurant wouldn't allow adding a toast for a party of three. Please, u can do better. For those liking something subtle, try their porridge of the night. Fyi, we were told it was times up after 90 minutes of dining. Ya, I don't believe that's following industry standards. Maybe next time, I'll just walk-in and have that salad at the bar and be done and happy.“
“Very good restaurant, we enjoyed ourselvesThe servers are very nice, they made a mistake with my dish and realized it very quickly, they apologized several timesWe had a Chicken Momo to share, and a Chicken Tikka Masala and a Chicken Korma and Garlic Naan everything was deliciousTherefore, we had the chance to taste the Chcken Spinach which was also very goodI recommend this restaurant“
“Go now for brunch before it blows up!!!Omg not only are their brunch items so aesthetically beautiful they are DELISH!!!We had the fluffy cakes, the Benedict Sando, and the 1398 Rancheros. The Benedict Sando was deconstructed- sandwich and then a dish of delicious poached eggs in mustardy hollandaise sauce. Wow!! The bulgogi on the rancheros was delicious and sooo flavorful, and spiced very mildly- not too spicy at all. The fluffy cakes stole the show. I even used a few of the dry cakes to sop up my Benedict sauce. Yum yum yum!!!!Also service was great, not slow at all, and super attentive. They ran out of the Thai iced tea and replaced it immediately with another beverage. Very thoughtful.“
“I've waited years to go to this place and it was an outstanding show. Unfortunately we did not like the food, and that was a little disappointing at the price point. But the ladies were amazing! And the atmosphere was so much fun. I would go back for a pop-up show if it did not include dinner.Vegetarian options: I had the orange tofu with cucumber salad, and my partner had the Malaysian cauliflower with Curry. Neither one of them were very good. The cheesecake for dessert was a very weird texture too.“
“Was going to take a friend visiting to Son and Garden, but this popped up and was on the way. We walked in on a Sunday at 10am with no reservation and were seated immediately. Great service. Great food. Great atmosphere (other than the tables being a little too close together). I now prefer this over S+G. It feels like the cool younger sibling“
“Excellent food and service at this Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant in the Sunset area. We shared a set menu of Roasted Dungeness Crab that came with a small but delicious Cabbage Chicken Salad (Goi Ga), Imperial Rolls (Cha Gio), and buttery Garlic Fried Noodles. The Fried Chicken Wings were crispy but on the sweet side. The food came out promptly and our waitress was friendly and checked on us frequently. Prices were on par with other similar SF establishments. Reservations are recommended, as the restaurant was full on a rainy weeknight when we were thefe. Parking was rather hard to find, so give yourself time, or better yet, don't drive!“
“Very good Korean fare in a laid back setting. Ollei serves up tasty late night grub and vibes in Russian Hill. The grill is burning, the meat is cooking, soups are boiling, the drinks are flowing and kpop is popping, this is a good Korean restaurant in San Francisco. Tasty food at an affordable price and where you can also go to throw a couple back as well. It was the perfect place to warm up on a cold SF night, food and drink wise. I’m definitely coming back to try various other dishes. Very good.Kid-friendliness: Not really“
“Friendly, fast, and fantastic — from start-to-finish, dining in always changes my day for the better. It’s a simple space, but the people make it feel like a home to me and remember what I like to order.Their Tofu Pad See Ew is the best I’ve had in town; the noodles and vegetables are cooked just right, it’s always the right amount of sauce, and the crispy bits on top are delightful. They can even make it vegan! Many thanks again, Tycoon!“
“I was very excited to eat Filipino food again for the first time in years after I stopped eating meat. ✨ This location was very clean, there's standing coubterop seating inside and plenty of patio seating in the back. During dinner rush, I've seen a line even during weekdays. ⚡ The staff is friendly and the food was ready quickly. ? Got the Señor Sisig Bowl with tofu, medium spicy, and it was OK. The flavor overall was sweet, not savory enough, missing acidity to brighten it up. I don't like sweet chili sauce and it tasted and looked like the tofu was marinated in it. The garlic rice wasn't garlicy. The medium spice level was nice, not too spicy for a whole meal. I'd try the vegan chicken next time. ? Pretty good value, ~$14 + tax“
“The soup dumplings were delicious. Another in the group ordered the Bao and really enjoyed it as well. The staff might be some of the best in all of California. They were insightful when it came to ordering and the food came out extremely fast. Absolutely fantastic!“
“Big portions and great service. I got the branzino silong and other people at the table got the tofu sisig and bistek. We shared everything plus got an order of the mini ube pancakes - lots of food for three people but glad we got everything as it was all tasty“
“My husband and I came across your Chestnut location this past weekend! What a wonderful find. The VERY nice gentleman that served us, the best dumplings - I highly recommend the Spicy Sichuan Wontons in Red Oil. Looking forward to our next visit!“
“A unique brunch spot. I had the pandan waffle and fried chicken which was tasty. The waffle was cold and a wee bit soggy but good flavour. Someone else had the bo luc lac and the beef was super duper tender and juicy but also very sweet. The shrimp Benedict was quite good and the chicken sammie was good but the star of that was the French fries they were spectacular. The service was friendly and good. There's no atmosphere but still a place I'll go back to.“
“We were there yesterday for. Bday dinner ! The food is very good. The owner is an amazing guy who gave us a fried tofu dish to try for free which was the best tofu I had ever eaten. Service is great!! The place is simple . More weekday ! But heck ! This is a place where food is king !“
“My wife and I went to Outer Orbit for the first time recently on a date night. The food was great, the prices were reasonable, the staff were attentive and the ambiance was light and fun. I highly recommend checking it out. Parking can be an issue, (It's the mission district) it is what it is... 4 out of 5 stars “
“Holy cow!!!! The food here is INSANELY delicious. I can still taste it in my memories, a week later. The wait was nuts (Fri eve). I so wish they'd take ressies. We ended up eating outside and I was freezing despite the heat lamp, but it was worth it. Also, one of the best service experiences in the city!! Amazingly friendly and knowledgeable wait staff that go so far out of their way to make sure you have a good meal and highly honor food restrictions/preferences. Impressive!!“
“Absolutely Divine! Each 'bite' is it's own expression of flavor and talent. They have a lot to be proud of. I tried things I would have never tried on my own. Albeit now, I doubt others will live up to the new expectations!I will say, having read the other reviews here, they should try a few newer things, as it seems they've been doing the same set for 5+ years, making repeat visits bland in terms of originality.Parking: Valet parking.“
“Beat the brunch rush by getting here early, there isnt a lot of indoor seating btw. Sat outside since we have a pup. Ordered on which was fresh squeezed, the brunch drinks looked really nice, but just wanted a basic breakfast. Waiter recommended Ribeye Omurice and it did not disappoint. Wife got the mushroom omelet, both came with this buttered toast that was so good my wife stole mine. Service was pretty fast and they turned on the heat lamps on even tho it was just us outside at first. Highly recommend and do show up early.“
“If you are craving Burmese food, which if you are unfamiliar is the best of Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisines, B-star is a reliable workhorse. This is part of the same chain as Burma Superstar in SF and East Bay, i.e. same menu.Tea leaf salad is the must-have go-to dish at any Burmese restaurant. And B-star does not disappoint. For vegetarians, you can skip the fish sauce if you let your server know. The salad is prepared fresh by your table and adding some lemon brings out the best of the green tea leaf paste and the crunchy accoutrements that compliment the lettuce, garlic and sesame seeds.Another classic is the palatha with dip, which is the equivalent of a fried roti with chicken (usually) or coconut curry in B-star's case. Or you can skip it for a samusa soup (Samosa soup) that's hearty, savory and can be a meal by itself. If you have any room left, there's a bunch of mains, from Tofu to Catfish (Mohinga - that's a specialty), with flavors reminiscent from the Thai or Chinese cuisines.Parking is always a challenge on clement street and you need to call your parking angel to find metered parking.Tip: Try their $25 lunch special M-F available until 2.30 pm that includes an appetizer, main and a drink. Best value.“
“Cute place. Went for lunch and it was very quiet. Nice and relaxing. A decent amount of tables inside. And it’s very bright and airy. The Kung pao chicken wasn’t spicy at all. It tasted very good though, and the rice was cooked perfectly. The Shanghai soup dumplings had great flavor. And are on the small side, you can eat them in one bite. The shrimp tempura was very crispy. The vegetable pot stickers had lots of veggies packed in like corn and spinach. The bubble tea I got just tasted like milk. It was pretty large though and I got double boba and the cheese foam. The boba was super fresh and very good.I liked that they had a bathroom but the toilet water was brown and all on the inside of the toilet was brown and it grossed me out.Though overall I def recommend!“
“Food was great and staff are polite. You order on an iPad and bring your food out to you, which was to use easy and convenient.Too much plastic waste for dine in orders though. Trash can was overflowing from disposable containers thrown out by customers exiting the restaurant.“
“There is something magical about fresh warm bread and cold picked vegetables. I got teriyaki chicken which was delicious. Also tried the bbq pork which was pretty good. Unlike some bahn mi places they didn't overdo the sauces. Will be back! It's a perfect meal after a hike.“
“Can't stop my craving from coming here for their wings. Another day after work with coworkers which 212 definitely don't disappoint. Cool workers and owners. Fun place to relax and relieve stress. Unless your allergic to fun, fried chickens, people and alcohol ... better you stay home lol J/K. Overall a must check out place for all that loves food, fun, alcohol etc.Peace out ...wink!“
“Amazing restaurant! Prices are great, so that you can try a few dishes in 1 visit. I tried the maguro bowl and champignon mushroom pasta. The maguro bowl was okay. I felt like more soy sauce on the tuna would've been better. The champignon pasta was amazing--smoky and perfectly seasoned! On a weeknight, they only have 2 servers serving ~20-25 people during rush dinner time. Service will be a bit slow, but all the more to tip each server more.“
“Super quick and delicious meal! My friend and I walked in on a Friday after early cocktails nearby and were immediately greeted & seated! We ordered the chicken dumplings, wagyu dumplings, chicken chow mein and stir fried string beans. The green beans were the star of the show! They were amazing. We also really enjoyed the chow mein. Next time I'd like to get a different type of dumpling, as the chicken dumplings were just okay.“
“My husband and I came across your Chestnut location this past weekend! What a wonderful find. The VERY nice gentleman that served us, the best dumplings - I highly recommend the Spicy Sichuan Wontons in Red Oil. Looking forward to our next visit!“
“Excellent hot pot. The customer service was very friendly and quick to remove our empty plates. The meat qualities were exceptional. We also loved being able to order food with our phone, but just the essentials, there is a nice Buffett to go up and grab vegetables, giblets, snails, tripe, noodles, sauce bar, even a nice $3 juice bar.Really enjoyed their special house sauce. They sauce bar had some super good choices. The soup broths were so delicious. Really clean bathroom.Just an overall top notch hot pot place!“
“Fast, consistent, convenient, easy, delicious. Super straightforward to hop in and out with an udon on an off day shopping at Stonestown. Very good quality food for the price! My one thing was that the corn add-on comes cold so you have to warm it with the soup, but otherwise every bite was solid. You have to get the tempura ofc...all of them hit but I love the squid :)“
“Great option for ramen on the outskirts of Chinatown located along the cable car line. I came here with a friend and their friend on a rainy night. It was pretty full but we were seated quickly. I love the flowers inside! We shared the Crab Wonton to start and things started on a high note. I liked my tonkotsu ramen and my friend said they'd get the spicy miso ramen again. The broth flavor was rich and thick, and I liked the creaminess of the egg and all the toppings.“
“Great food and great service. The curry sauce that comes with the fries is really good, and the hanger steak is fire. The peppers onions and mushrooms it’s served with are really good, and the mint chutney is a fantastic addition. Everything came out quickly, and they also packed up our leftovers for us which was awesome.“
“Great place for a bite before the Orpheum. With so many closures in SF, its one of the few open eating near the theatre. That said, had a 4:30 reservation before the 7:30 show. Its was surprisingly full and looked like lots of theatre-goers. The service was excellent. The food was good. We had calamari and chicken wings appetizers, loco moco, and meatloaf entrees. Killed some time with coffee. Would recommend if you're going to the Orpheum.“
“This place had a upscale vibe with great music and attentive staff. Everyone was very friendly and I had the bbq pork buns and Pork Sheng Jian Bao and everything was SOOO AMAZING! I wish I lived closer I would be broke from eating here everyday of my life! The bbq pork buns were so fluffy with a hint of sweetness and a savory inside of bbq pork. The soup dumplings had a crunchier pan fried bottom with flavorful soup and meat on the inside. The Oolong tea was very good as well I didn't need sugar at all it was just good quality tea. They even brought a dessert sesame ball for free at the end of my meal and i left so full and satisfied! If you read to the bottom of this, hesitate no further and just do yourself a favor and check this place out, you WONT regret it.“
“Glad we caught this place by accident just walking by. Food was superb. Flavourful, delicious beef noodle soup. Also had chicken teriyaki, some dim sum options and spring rolls. Everything was fantastic.Service was attentive, as we were the only ones there. Prices were very reasonable for the area.“
“A fusion restaurant with fun dishes and flavors. We were a group of three and ended up splitting the chicken and waffles, hot pot, and Gatai (Thai breakfast with minced chicken and egg). Everything is really tasty with a slight Thai twist to it. Our favorite was the chicken and waffles as their waffles tasted more like Belgian waffles. They have a bottomless brunch mimosa which can be great if you want to get the party started early. But it also means it can get a bit loud. Their non-alcoholic drinks also looked good. I had the Thai iced tea which was a bit on the sweeter side but just the jolt I needed.I’d come back if I was in the area, esp for the waffles.“
“This super cool lounge style bar with yummy bar bites in the sunset district is the only one of it's kind on the west side of the city. The beautiful interiors have tons of seating options for groups large and small. The atmosphere is lively while still feeling laid back. The open room can get loud when busy but remains feeling intimate and cozy in the booths. Warm enough inside to get dressed up on the weekend while still casual for afterwork drinks. I absolutely adore this place and cannot recommend it highly enough.“
“They are located in the Ferry Building and offer seating both inside and outside with a view of the bay. I recently tried their chicken wings, which were so delicious—I highly recommend them! In general, their food is always delicious, and the service is very good.“
“We’ve driven by beyond cafe many times and finally came to try it. There aren’t many HK cart noodle spots in the city so we were eager to stop by for a taste. We ordered the braised beef brisket noodles and cart noodles (4 options). Most importantly, soup base was piping hot! We will be back!“
“Food was good, location is also good, away from city center and much quieter but still accessible on Geary St in Richmond district. Took 1 ⭐️ off because it was very cold inside, colder than outside and it was a very nice sunny day for spring, even with our jackets on we were cold. We still wolfed down the crab ? was scrumptious.“
“Was in the mood for some Chinese food while house-sitting in the city and found this place on Doordash. At first I thought it looked a bit pricey, but when I was shocked to see that the portions were pretty huge! My husband and I were able to eat our dishes for dinner, lunch the next day, as well as a little snack. When I got my order, everything was piping hot so you know it was made fresh! Chubby Shanghai: I liked the texture of the noodles, but there was something missing flavor-wise. Not sure if it would've been better had I opted to add in a protein? Dumplings in Chili Oil Sauce: Delicious with a kick! If you're sensitive to spicy foods, I would order and eat this with caution. General Tso's Orange Chicken: A classic, and my favorite dish out of the order. You get SO many pieces of chicken and I loved that some of the breading on the orange chicken was still crispy. The amount of sauce they added was perfect and not overdone at all! I think I would have preferred rice over the Chubby Shanghai Noodles since this was packed full of saucy flavor. Overall I would rate this place a 4.5 and would definitely order from them again. They don't have an abundance of dishes like other Chinese restaurants, but I think that's part of the appeal for me - especially when you're starving and don't want to think too hard about what you want to eat. You just know you want some great quality food!“
“I think I could eat Purple Rice's Veggie Soft Tofu stew every day for the rest of my life. I've tried a number of Korean food places in the city and this has by far been the best and most consistently delicious. They're so accommodating with vegetarian/vegan modifications, service is always super quick and kind, and even the takeout is super high quality/great quantity. Their rice cakes jap chae are also delicious! Hope Purple Rice is around forever.“
“The best sushi in the neighborhood! I highly recommend this place to all of my local and visiting clients. The staff is kind and efficient. Everything on the menu is so good and surprisingly affordable. My favorites are the unagi roll, the rock'n roll, and the bento box lunch special.“
“The food, the flavors, the owners, the authenticity… so much to rave about. A true treasure.Vegetarian options: Anything you could ever want!Dietary restrictions: They make everything from scratch!Kid-friendliness: Family friendly for sure!“
