“What is Sushi hama based upon a recommendation from a friend. I ordered the omakase dish and it had a selection of sushi which we're all fresh and delicious.

My combination also came with some fried tempera, and that was delicious as well.

Overall, very pleasant dining experience.And I would highly recommend it.“

They handed us our bag, we asked if it was the bento box, and were told it was, but it wasn’t. Honest mistake. I called to see if I could come back tomorrow to get it replaced, at first the cashier said yes, just give him my name. The manager got on the phone, told me it was my fault and she had already lost too much money on it and that she wasn’t going to make me another. She kept arguing then hung up on me 😡. “My new favorite sushi spot in Long Beach. Omg - once, they had some uni from Japan (not Santa Barbara, like most uni here) that was unREAL. I’d advise getting some of the regular sushi/sashimi and not just rolls. Their ramen is bomb, too. As are their appetizers. We usually get the spicy edamame. The owner is a gem, too. Really nice lady who remembers her customers, which always feels nice.“

“This place did not appear automatically on Google Maps and we just saw it in the area. But so glad we did! Got the donkatsu (Donkkaseu) combo with soba. Portions were pleasantly larger than expected and we felt contently full afterwards. The katsu was fried perfectly and had a nice crunch! The donkatsu had lots of meat, and there were also side dishes that came with the meal!

The tempura udon was just okay -- there were a lot of ingredients, but something lacking in the overall flavor. “We get lunch or dinner at Maruichi AT LEAST twice a week! The karaage and different types of musubi are really, really good. They sometimes run out of the karaage, so that tells you how much people like it. The karaage is marinated well and cooked perfectly. It's a bummer when they run out of the karaage because the options around just can't compare. Give them around 30 minutes to fry the chicken because it's made to order. You won't be disappointed... Speaking of which, I'm going to order some now. For the musubi, I highly recommend the tuna and kurobota (sausage) -- the sausage musubi comes with the perfect amount of wasabi. “I was going back to the yard to part my semi and I thought I’d get something quick to snack on at the corner store but it wasn’t open. The next thing open beside it was LUCKILY Tokyo Grill! I was hungry and I was going to wait til I got home but I decided to get the chicken bowl because I saw it was 9 bucks. I didn’t expect much as I took it to my truck and man was I blown away. The flavor of the chicken was so delicious and the amount of ingredients they put into the bowl is unbelievable. It had green beans pineapple carrot slices cabbage and some other vegetables. I was amazed for how much food they gave me for the plate only being 9 bucks and they put a lot of chicken in there which was a big plus. I didn’t have to dig around for any chicken.That’s why I’m writing this review, hopefully it helps anyone thinking coming to eat here. Oh and I also had really dirty hands and the lady at the cash register which I believe was part owner, gave me some wipes and was really nice. I’m pretty sure their other dishes are great too. I didn’t take a picture of my food because I was really hungry but it’s worth each penny I wasted.“

“My brother and I wanted to try a new ramen place and ended up here. The food itself was great as I got the bulduk ramen and tempura shrimp and my brother got the tonkatsu. It was all good until I wanted the check. We sat for 30 minutes waiting for a check. The front of staff was more concerned with the group next to us or being idle. I have pressed to call for a server multiple times and hearing the ping letting them know a table needed help but I could not get their attention. I only got my check after the table next to us asked for a check when I told them I wanted a check. I partly blame the system for not properly letting the staff know since the ping only went off for a server request but also for how unattentive the staff is to some other guests. We were at the corner of the bar.“

“This is our comfort food goto place for 25+ years. It's sad to say but the quality has gone down a bit. The menu has pretty much stayed unchanged.

Favorite dish: Mushroom salad, Uni Pasta, Beef tataki, Scallop tataki, Fried calamari (it's a hit or miss), Omurice, Osso bucco (sometimes too salty), Fried prawn appetizer, Spaghetti with meat sauce.“

“I can't say anything better about this place. A really nice waitress, or cashier girl whatever you want to call her, the food is outstanding, and they have a huge variety. It's super small, it only seats maybe 4 two top tables, but they have a little bit of tiny outdoor seating.

Tampopo Restaurant has been a long term tenant at the Artesia City Plaza. I remember dining at the prior occupant (Sushi Samurai, I believe), many years ago. Originally planning to dine at Katsumura, only to find they're not open Mondays, Tampopo became Plan B for some sustenance.

Tampopo ramen & gyoza lunch special-
Priced at $14.95, the Tampopo ramen & gyoza lunch special was a good deal. The broth was thinner than what was expected, and the ramen wasn't al dente (more spaghetti-like) to my preference. However, the bowl of soup had an ample amount of food with three thick slabs of tender pork belly.

The gyoza provided a nice textural contrast to the ramen, and were pleasurable to eat.

Service was good. Seating was readily available and the wait was minimal for food. Parking is at the Artesia City Plaza, which can become quite difficult to find during peak hours. Tampopo is located in-between Bakers & Baristas & Sweetee Thai.

Not ramen quite comparable to a dedicated ramen shop, Tampopo's ramen & gyoza lunch special is still a bargain for a filling meal. Things are expensive now, so I find Tampopo's reasonable pricing & ample quantities and good choice when in search of a meal option in the area.“
