“My favorite dinner spot in Sierra Madre. Excellent pub grub, and by far the best beer selection in town. Excellent service both inside and on the large outdoor patio. It's a great place to catch a game in a relaxed atmosphere or to enjoy one of their many beer festivals. The kitchen also stays open longer than any of their neighbors, so they're the best place in town if you want to eat a bit later.

Vegetarian options: They have a good range of vegetarian dishes, including appetizers and main dishes.

Parking: There's no dedicated lot just for the restaurant, so you may need to walk a block or two from one of the big city lots.

Kid-friendliness: They're as family friendly as you can get from a place best known for its beer selection.“

“It's become a yearly meeting place for my friends and I to meet here at this lovely and quaint establishment. I love coming into Sierra Madre, a tiny gorgeous little place that lets me forget the hustle and bustle of the city. The restaurant itself is cozy and the service awesome. The food is delicious and tastes fresh. I have had the mushroom risotto and the chicken dish that was fabulous. The salads are also fresh, light and tasty. The desserts were wonderful. Not heavy, not powerful sweet, just perfect. I had the creme burlee on one occasion and the brownie on another. We have tried other restaurants in the area, but for me this is my go-to when in Sierra Madre.“

“Lots of vegan choices here with faux meats. I ate my falafel and fries. The fries were a light golden, crunchy outside fluffy inside, generous portion, but it costs extra. The falafel (about five in the wrap) was good, a little dry, but good chickpea flavor 5/5...but I wished the lettuce wasn't so "spring mix from a supermarket bag" and clubky chunky...I like to see more finesse...but the pita was the thick fluffy kind and the sandwich was well wrapped so you could hold it without too much falling out. I enjoyed the cute Sierra Madre ambiance inside...though I was kept waiting so long in the place i nearly left...about 12 minutes alone before someone emerged from the back, without as much of a welcome or greeting. Well, I was excited to be there at least. Anyway, no check ins from any server but I tipped the guy 15 percent anyway, and he did thank me for that. I ordered a beef and chicken combo with rice and the proteins were grrrreat 5/5. It survived the half-hour drive home. Suggestion: Ask to have the pita bread packaged outside the container. The pita was under the proteins...alas mushy soggy unrecognizable....not smart, sorry. So if you want pita that isn't mush, beg to have the pita on the side. One star less because of that decision to put bread on the bottom for a takeout order. My mom didn't get any pita 0/5 and that's a shame bec it was the fluffy kind.“

“Was super happy with our dinner at Hippo. Every dish was delicious. The brussel sprouts and cauliflower starters had excellent flavors. All the pastas we tried had incredible depth of flavor without being overly heavy or greasy. The hippo rolls and table focaccia were excellent and the chicken thighs were to die for. Only thing that was lackluster was the passion fruit gelato. Fun vibe, lots of seating, and great service!“

Truly like the croissant style cinnamon rolls and breve. We also had both types of benedicts and they were great.“

“Secrecy is the name of the game here, as gaining entry requires requesting the passcode on the day of your visit. And let me tell you, finding the entrance is an adventure in itself. Once inside, the atmosphere crackled with excitement and anticipation. The self-serve tables added to the laid-back vibe, allowing us to find a cozy spot to enjoy our drinks after placing our orders.However, I must admit that The Speakeasy didn't quite live up to its name on the night of our visit. The lively ambiance, perhaps fueled by the energy of a Friday night, was accompanied by music that bordered on deafening. While this detracted from the speakeasy mystique, it didn't dampen our spirits entirely. The drinks, on the other hand, were a highlight of the experience. Crafted with care and precision, they offered a delightful array of flavors to tantalize the taste buds.“

“How I love this neighborhood club! People are friendly and fun. I stopped by early on a Saturday night and was dazzled by Xmas decorations they just put up for the season and a great new band playing out for one of it's first gigs. As the band played to an enthusiastic audience, everyone in the room felt like we were sharing something special.
Drinks are delicious and affordable, they don't charge for water- even bubbly water! Drop in!“

“We went in search of the @losdoradosla truck and found it parked in front of La Cuevita. We ventured in at around 6p and discovered that it was still Happy Hour. My husband ordered an Old Fashion and said it was one of the best he’s ever had. I ordered a specialty vodka drink and it was refreshing. We’re definitely going back soon with friends!“

“I came here because of an event from Yelp (Y.E.S. event), but the catering was done by this Sports Bar. The vibes are great. The TVs are always displaying the sporting event of the night. The food is awesome. Everyone at the bar, and even the server/food runner Ryan were providing top-notch service. Highly recommended. The Sports Bar is inside a hotel lobby but they do parking validation at the bar with a purchase (also, parking is underground, but very spacious and good).“

“I was staying at the hotel during Christmas week and really loved the vibes. It was always busy whenever I passed by, with a mix of young professionals, ladies' gatherings, families with kids—just about everyone. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to stop and have a drink myself“

“Me and my guy went here to play pool we didn't know this bar is competitive with pool so you have to earn your spot to play on the one pool table however they do have multiple dart boards to entertain yourself while you're waiting plus the patrons there are super cool.

“Thursday Nights !! A+ Bartender Rosie goes above and beyond . I’m not only if she friendly and acknowledges any and every person who walks in she’s not like other bartenders I’ve seen other establishments who are on their phone more than they are working. She brings in a collective of different patrons all friendly Never once not felt safe when I am there It’s a shame the other Bartenders at this places sister establishment in Covina were as well Trained as Rosie. “This is our local pub; we don't order wine (of which they have a nice selection), but they have a few European beers on tap that are quite good (including Guinness). They also have bottled beer if you prefer. This is a family owned pub (also "1881" on Washington/ Allen in East Pasadena), & you can usually catch owners Gail (sorry if I misspelled!) & Judah "Ben Hur." Actually he looks more like Mick Fleetwood and you can sit at the bar and have a chat with him if you want. I just like to say"Judah Ben-Hur" from the movie BEN HUR (1960?). Great service & vibe. Not fancy, just a great neighborhood pub to have a beer or two (I recommend several, if you have a designated driver). There is actually 3 areas you can drink- at the bar, a room for a few parties, and a secluded outdoor area for smokers in the back. It's quite cool & we feel at home there. If you live in Altadena/Pasadena on the west side (on Fair Oaks North of Woodbury) this is the bar for you. They also have pizza which is quite good. Judah is English, Gail from Chicago, and they have family that help out. It's a great little ace! Check it out! I'll be there tonight- look for the good looking older gent with the Roy Orbison glasses. He can be quite entertaining!“

“Fun little quaint dive bar. Honestly a good place to sit down and catch up with a friend, as it seems to be far from more popular places like downtown Alhambra. Be prepared to bring cash as it does not take card. Bartenders are modest and crowd was pretty quiet for a Saturday night. A couple food spots down the road and a domino’s next door in case you get hungry, which I’m sure people have ordered and brought in.“

“Fun place to go with friends and play some retro cabinet games and other games I'm sure you haven't heard of. The pinball games are awesome. Would like to see more pinball games be added. More games and tables going to the back of the building. Restroom located in the middle(heading towards the back) Clean dining areas. Cool bartenders! Great beer/liquor/spirits/wine variety. “I hadn't been to this location in about 10 years. Back then it was a total dive bar with "fichera" girls. This time I experienced a fairly nice bar while I watched both the Canelo vs. GGG Trilogy boxing match and the Dodgers vs. Giants baseball game simultaneously. The waitresses and bartenders were very nice. I'll definitely keep this place in mind for watching future sports events. Otherwise, parking for this location isn't easy to come by and it's not a pick up joint. The clientele was pretty much exclusively middle aged Mexican men.“

“Came here on a Wednesday and was lucky to be seated for drinks by the hostess. It was my second time here. And I always enjoy the drink and dark ambiance. Mixologist are super helpful. Definitely will be back to try food. Very small place, so reservations on weekends are probably best.“

Startlingly, you'll also find it's almost empty on a Friday night. Its proximity to horrible Colorado Blvd dive bars with DTLA rooftop bar prices should make this place a gem, but folks haven't made the trek across Central Park to discover it despite it being so rewarding to do so. No better nightcap destination with the homies in Old Town.“
