“Fantastic traditional Japanese (as in not Korean, not American style).

Omakase was perfect & very fairly priced. Fish quality was over the top orgasmic good.

We also had the baby octopus salad photo attached that was absolutely fantastic tender and extremely tasty.

In short extremely glad we finally tried this place. Won’t be the last time for sure.“

“This place is easily one of the best sushi spots on 2nd street, delicious options with plentiful portions. I tried the Mexican, AAA roll and the deep fried California roll with all 3 being stellar. The atmosphere is lively and the greeting when you walk in from the sushi chefs is nice ?

Kid-friendliness: Kids menu portion has 4 different options, basic chicken with veggies and rice being one of them.

“We were seated right away and I really liked how they allowed one of us to do Premium ayce and the other person to do regular ayce, it helped a lot with the flexibility in choosing both of dining experiences but sharing them together. Service was attentive and fast, we waited no more than 10 minutes after putting in our order for another round of food. The nigiri was fantastic, wasabi dots, ponzu and yuzu sauce that goes with the cuts of fish add a lot more to it. Also if you go during lunch time (up to 3pm) the prices are fairly good. Overall would highly recommend, I do wish some of the nigiri didn’t come with the specific sauce, and that the fish could be enjoyed simply without anything added on, still really great quality cuts. Normally I don’t like seared black pepper nigiri but here I loved it, the snow crab was also amazing. You also get a free large vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate syrup if you leave a yelp review, pretty cool. Highly recommend if you love ayce sushi.“

“A friend who frequents this establishment brought me for lunch today with another friend. Being a vegetarian I was impressed by the selections I would love to try. I ended up ordering the salmon, scallop, spinach cream pasta with capers. It was delicious! My friends ordered the pork katsu and hamburger combo and it looked awesome. The portions are so generous and it comes with soup and salad for the combo and mine came with a small salad and homemade bread. And the family run restaurant is very service oriented, friendly and a very clean and comfortable place. Highly recommended“

I will add that I travel a lot and try to get sushi as my dinner whenever I am on the road so I’ve patronized a lot of sushi restaurants, mostly in the US and Canada. Roll and Teriyaki is one of those places that compelled me to write a review. I had the miso soup, the 12 piece sashimi dish, the rainbow roll, and the caterpillar roll. The miso soup was good. The sashimi was very good. The rainbow roll was fantastic. And, the caterpillar roll was so unbelievably good that I almost didn’t want to swallow. All that at a more than super reasonable price. “It was a yakiniku restaurant where you could really feel Japan. The atmosphere is great. The meat is also great. The minced meat and miso that come with the kimchi and sandwich are also delicious. The clerks are also kind and work quickly, which is great. You can also eat liver sashimi and yukhoe. Cold noodles and yukke bibimbap are average. It would be even better if they had stone-grilled bibimbap.Reservations required.“

“I’ve had the Hamachi W/ Cilantro, Jalapeño, & Ponzu… it’s so good! All the other sushi’s are delicious. The fish is fresh and tastes so good, and the Miso Salmon bowl is tasty. “I took a friend to eat sushi for the first time that did 35 years in prison. The shishito peppers are addicting and to die for. We ordered 3 different rolls and everything was amazing. The sake was hot and delicious...service was great and attentive. I love this place! I've been like 5 times before and would say it's one of my favorite sushi spots in LA with great prices! JUST GO HERE! you won't be disappointed.

Kid-friendliness: There was a child in there and she had toys and was not disturbing at all....gave it a great family friendly vibe.

“Got the gyu (beef) yakiniku bento. Pretty straight forward place, no frills.

Rice, beef, and ginger, and 1 other small side (I can’t remember) but it was really good.

There’s no sit down. Just a desk to take your order and pick up.“

“We were just passing through and looking for something close to our hotel, and so happy we found this spot! Because it was our first time, we got complimentary chili - definitely see why it’s 7 times award winning! Very flavorful and just the right amount of spice. The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, and very accommodating to make sure our order is to our liking. We had 2 bento boxes, Kaula pork and bbq pork. The portion sizes were perfect and the meat was very flavorful. The sides of macaroni and cucumber salad were just as good. We also had one of their many specials of the day, fish tacos, which were incredibly fresh and simple, exactly what I want for fish tacos. Next time we’re visiting LA, we’ll be sure to be back!“

First, the chef is friendly, and most importantly, the reasonably priced rolls and sushi are very satisfying.

Utahs food is boring, bland and flavorless. Found this spot as I was rolling through Long Beach and decided to stop. The lady at the counter was super nice and welcoming! Tried their pork Katsudon set (you have a choice between pork or chicken also) and the pork upon first bite was juicy and meat was very tender. Outside katsu was crunchy, the pork is lean and didnt have any fat too. Miso soup and cabbage salad was fresh and not instant, I would visit this place again. 5 stars??“

“I first came here around 1992/3. I believe it’s the same owner?!?! Ramen is excellent…and huge portion. Their chahan (fried rice) is also to die for. And their gyoza is also excellent. These are the 3 main things I order every time. We moved to the east coast but every time I visit Southern California, I MUST stop here. I’m so happy that after all these years, they still are around.

It is a very small restaurant…but I like it and the food is what I come for, I could care less how small it is.“

“First time ordering here. Simple Japanese food, great for take out. We got Grilled Salmon and Ckn(white meat)Katsu Bento. Also some side dishes. Kinpira Gobo, Nishime and Ckn(dark meat) Karaage. Flavor is pretty legit, like old school Bento. Kinpira Gobo was abit on the too sweet, too soft side. Was excited about Tofu nuggets, but was not crispy as I imagined... more like Nimono. Overall recommend for lunch/dinner take out. No bathroom to use in the small seats restaurant. Potato salad tho... bomb! ?

Parking: Its in a very small plaza with 7/11 and other businesses like Ramen restaurant. Might be difficult to find free parking in the front.“

“Hiyori Sushi restaurant is a hidden gem in Cypress, CA. The food is delicious, the restaurant is clean and tidy, and the staff is very friendly. I tried the Medium Live Sashimi set, and I was extremely satisfied with the numerous side dishes that came with the sashimi. I definitely have to try Tuna special next time“
