“This is absolutely my favorite sushi restaurant in LA and I have been back now 10 times. I have lived here for 3 years and was looking for a fresh, well made sushi joint and finally found it. The owner is so kind and welcomes you upon walking in. I always get the miso soup, crispy rice and albacore fried onion roll. Everything is cooked to perfection and so flavorful. The ambiance is lovely with 1950s jazz playing and quick service. I cannot give this restaurant enough praise. Highly recommend!!“

“This was our first time at Leona’s Sushi House, thanks to a friend who suggested we meet there—and honestly, we fell in love with the place right away. The vibe was just right—relaxed but lively—and we scored the best seats in the house, right by the open-air window on Ventura. Couldn’t have asked for a better spot to people-watch and soak it all in.
Our server was very friendly and made us feel at home. She even joked about losing her voice at the Beyoncé concert she’d just taken her daughters to—definitely a fun icebreaker.
We all went for the Omakase, and it was such a treat. It kicked off with a mushroom miso soup, then halibut sashimi topped with truffles (so good), followed by a couple of trays of assorted nigiri, and then a crab handroll. Even though we were stuffed, we couldn’t resist dessert, so we shared the chocolate lava cake, and banana puff pastry, and brought the caramel flan home.
All in all, it was an awesome night—great food, great company, and a place we intend to visit again.“

“Come here for happy hour! Mad we missed it by a half hour. Happy hour 5-6 and 8-9. Most of the rolls and apps and drinks are on the happy hour menu at a very discounted price. Rolls on happy hour are like 13 instead of 18 or 19.
The edamame app was huge, plenty to share. We were 3 and couldn’t finish it. And it was super fresh with a good amount of salt on it which I like. The rolls were fresh and delicious. I liked the shrimp tempura and ultimate salmon roll. The garlic ninja roll was good too. Those were my favorites. The salmon crunch roll was too spicy for me. The plum wine was very sweet. The matcha beer just tasted like beer but was colored green. I guess there was matcha in there too but I didn’t taste it.
It was quiet on a Monday night. I made a reservation but didn’t need to. Very casual place and wait service was very friendly. Lots of robots also roaming the street and picking up orders :)“

“Omakase by Osen , a traditional Japanese dining experience where the chef selects the dishes for you, offers a truly unique and personalized approach to sushi and Japanese cuisine. This restaurant brings the authentic art of omakase to life, and it's clear that the chefs take immense pride in their craft.
From the moment you step inside, Omakase by Osen exudes a warm, minimalist ambiance with a modern twist. Soft lighting, wood accents, and clean lines create an inviting, intimate atmosphere that feels both high-end and welcoming. The staff are professional, attentive, and knowledgeable, with a deep understanding of the ingredients used. They are eager to explain each dish and offer pairing suggestions, which enhances the experience for diners unfamiliar with Japanese culinary traditions.
The food is, without a doubt, the star of the show. The menu reflect the freshest, in-season ingredients, and the chefs craft each dish with precision and care. The sushi is exceptional, each piece is an artful masterpiece. The fish is impeccably fresh, often sourced directly from top-tier fish markets, and the rice is perfectly seasoned. Highlights include buttery, melt-in-your-mouth toro, delicate sea bream, and rich uni. The accompanying garnishes and sauces are thoughtfully balanced, never overpowering the natural flavors of the seafood.
Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Japanese cuisine.“

“Leo is the best chef. So kind, personable, and knows his sushi. He makes just about everything from his ginger to his soy sauce from scratch even though he’ll tell you, “no soy sauce” for most of the sushi that comes as it should be eaten. Best sushi restaurant on Ventura Blvd by far. Make sure to try his dry aged fish!
Parking: There are a few spots behind the restaurant.“

“I pop in here probably once a week sometimes twice for a glass of wine. The bartenders are very cheerful and informed with respect to varieties and flavors and all the jazz. They walk you through the options and make tip top recommendations. The place is always slammed at night, yet the manager is extremely accommodating and always finds a place for me to chill and savor the weekend ambiance. I’ve never had their food, but it looks delicious. All the servers are friendly and have excellent people skills. The outdoor space is a fun hang too if you have a group. I always feel spoiled here. 5 star experiences.“

“Dr Dre and Andersen Pak restaurant. Sign me up! The service and atmosphere were great. We ordered alot of food and got to try alot of different things. Some were great like the wagyu beef and others were just OK which is why I gave it 3 stars. It's probably closer to 4 considering the service was great. Drinks were good also. I will admit in not a sushi person so I only tried one piece of sushi and it wasnt for me.“

“There are so many sushi places in Studio City. This is just inside Sherman Oaks by one block, on Riverside, so it's a real neighborhood place. The food is great. Truly homemade. Everything is fantastic. The host, Ben, is stellar. Kind, attentive, and very helpful and knows the cuisine. A great place ... and our secret, okay?“

“Love this little nook, the service was great very friendly and accommodating. Would love more vegan/vegetarian items but the items they had were delicious and they made modifications for us. Love that it's small and intimate but if it were bigger I wouldn't mind.“

“Great sushi.Hits the sweet spot between the fancy, super high priced sushi and the lower end, bare bones (but still not cheap) sushi.Excellent quality fish with creative garnishes, and large portions. We tried only one special roll and it was sensational. Unlike many large rolls at other places, all the individual components stood out. (Often, I find these big rolls essentially interchangeable.)Not a cheap meal, but great cost to value ratio.Bryant is a terrific, enthusiastic server.“

“We had a very nice dinner here. It was highly recommended by a friend. It is a cute little place that fills up quickly. We ended up sitting outside with some heaters, which was quite nice. We tried the Brussel sprout appetizer, and it was excellent. We ordered the Asian roll, the lobster tempura roll as well as the soft shell crab roll. All were very good. The negima, which is chicken on a stick, was very tasty. We finished with mochi, which was perfect.“

“I never leave reviews, but as someone who loves sushi and has eaten at most of the restaurants and hole in the walls in the valley — this place is hands down at the top. The atmosphere isn’t fancy, more casual, but the happy hour deal and the quality of the food is solid. The staff couldn’t be nicer and more lovely. Highly recommend giving it a shot for a casual date night or if you’re craving some solo sushi time :)“

“One of the best omakase experience i’ve had.
There were so many dishes that came out that I started to get full. Love it!
The service was very attentive. The fish quality was great and there were some unique options i’ve never had before. My favs were the ankimo, seared baby barracuda, spotted ebi, and uni. The espresso hojicha dessert was absolutely amazing as well.“

“We really enjoyed our dining experience at Kenbey. The sushi is fresh and you can tell the chef cares about each piece he serves. I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of 3 things. The first is that I didn’t like the sauce that came on the hirame and the sauce on the albacore with the slice of garlic. Second, we tried the Hokkaido uni, it was a very dark orange (so not the freshest - we should have gone with the Santa Barbara uni) and so bland and flavorless. Third, for the prices they could add some decoration.
I would still recommend trying Kenbey. The service was excellent and overall pretty good!“

“OTTO SUSHI was amazing their portions were generous but not huge so you know they weren’t prioritizing quantity over quality. Our order consisted of the chicken teriyaki bento box, eel avocado roll, and the garlic yellowtail roll i believe that was the name…everything was delicious but my favorite had to be the Garlic roll, the use of garlic chips unsparingly was the star of the show. We will definitely be back!“

“Exceptional, rarified traditional Èdo Maè Sushi where the ultra high quality and specialized seafood from mainly Japan is emphasized by the Japanese chef with years of experience at his craft.
If you come expecting Sushi rolls with inferior fish decorated by nuance destroying squiggly of mayonnaise, Sriracha, sweet eel "sauce", you will be disappointed. Truly for discriminating Sushi gourmands who are willing to pay the price of entry.“

“This place is absolutely amazing! I rarely write reviews, but I had to make an exception for this one. My son and I absolutely loved it here. Everything was perfect—the food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience! The complimentary cucumber salad and miso soup were such a delightful touch. This is officially my go-to sushi spot from now on. Highly recommend it to everyone!“

“Top sushi 🍣 restaurant in studio city.
The service was excellent, from the time we walked in, to leaving, all staff constantly greeted and checked on us to make sure we were doing well.
The grilled green peppers🫑 were good, not too spicy.
The sushi was very fresh and tender, and the plates, including teriyaki salmon were tasty.
The place was packed.
The only downside was that their parking lot had zero self parking spaces, only valet parking so if you prefer not to, would need to find nearby street parking, which we did and walk a few blocks to the restaurant.“

“Pretty much everything it is always the best and freshest fish in town! The best oysters on the half shell, Uni, yellowtail belly, the seafood salad is really delicious, (as well as their salmon skin salad)! Another favorite is the ELhand roll (it’s almost a meal in itself)! You really cannot go wrong with anything you order there! Five stars for sure!“

“Tatsu Sushi Japanese Cuisine is a true gem! The food was absolutely exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even better. While the restaurant is on the smaller side and can fill up quickly, that’s just a testament to how great the food is. They seem to handle a lot of takeout orders, but service remains impressively fast for dine-in guests. I will definitely be coming back, and I highly recommend this spot to all sushi lovers!“

“Truly not enough descriptive words to express the level of freshness, taste and welcoming vibe we experienced at Karma Sushi. Honestly the BEST sushi I’ve had in forever. James and his staff are a 10+ (no exaggeration). They greet you like family and take care of you like only an owner runned business could. I’m hooked and can’t stop eating here!!!! Was just there for Mother’s Day and returning next week to share with a friend. A MUST TRY.“

“The staff are always friendly and the food is absolutely delicious.
Every time we visit L.A., this is a must-stop spot for our kids.
We’re big fans of sushi and have tried omakase in many countries, but this place keeps coming back to mind. While the setting and atmosphere might not be the most fancy, the taste alone is enough to bring us back.
In fact, sometimes the small and humble vibe feels even more comfortable, which is why it works so well for our family. I have a feeling we’ll keep coming back every time we’re in L.A!“

“Katsuya was an incredible experience. We went there for a date night and was absolutely in love with everything we had. We had the Katsuya Chef's Tasting Menu ($85 pp) which included 1. Hokkaido Scallop Sashimi: This was sublime! 2. Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice: This was probably the highlight of the entire meal for me. Spicy tuna always slaps and the crispy rice had a very delicate hint of toasted sesame oil. Très bien! 3. Lobster Tempura: I've never really been a fan of tempura but this one was just exceptional. It was such a nice flavor. I think there was a hint of cheese. But whatever it was, I want more. 4. Wagyu Ishiyaki with Wasabi ponzu: I'm always sceptical about red meat and love it with more flavor infused. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I really enjoyed this. The wasabi ponzu, thinly sliced radish and shiso leaves were the whole package! 5. Specialty rolls: These were well-executed but I was mind blown by the rest of the food that I'd had and the flavors that were exploding that this did not leave a memorable mark for me. But still so good! 6. For the main course, we had a choice between short ribs and the cod. I went with short ribs. This was probably the best sears ever! I also loved the braising jus. 7. Finally for the dessert, we had the Miso Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Bean Marshmallow, Sesame Cremeux, Salted Caramel. It was an amazing dessert to finish things off. They had a few wine offerings, which I enjoyed. Our waiter was super sweet and ensured that we were occupied throughout. He was very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. I loved the ambiance on the inside. Though it's near one of the tourist-y parts of LA, once you're inside, you don't realise how busy it is outside. Overall, I enjoyed this spot immensely. 15/10 recommend.“

“I stopped by for a quick dinner on my way to LA Airport. You can't eat in the restaurant, only take out. Since we had nowhere to go, our family of four parked in the parking lot and ate it, but we inhaled a lot. They use more ingredients than other rolls, and each roll has its own unique characteristics. The miso soup that came with it was also good!“
