“Ever since moving to the area, this has been THE date night spot for my husband and I. It is everything we wanted in a local neighborhood bar -- a chill environment with kind staff and fun weekly activities. The music is low enough to be able to have good conversations. There is a lot of spacious seating, including large tables, couches with pillows, etc. The bar food is tasty, the walls are lined with books and games, and they have cute literary-themed cocktails. My husband and I will grab a drink and a board game and sit for hours! We've also seen people reading on the couch with a drink, which is such a vibe. The space is so well curated to be a comfortable spot for anyone -- groups, dates, or solos.

The staff are beyond friendly, and the new owner Joy is a ray of sunshine. She remembers our names when we come visit and has been so passionate about incorporating new weekly activities like taco Tuesdays, karaoke, and trivia.

Catcher in the Rye is a rare gem of a place that feels so comfortable and so familiar. Thank you Joy & all staff for the best neighborhood bar we could ask for!“

“Several friends (12) met together for a Friday night birthday dinner celebration. The atmosphere was surprisingly nice and relaxing. There were a couple of regulars there who appeared to know the waitress & chefs by name- think Cheers bar. Two people were comfortably eating alone, while there were other tables of 4. No one was rushed to leave and the environment allowed for relaxed eating & hanging out in good conversations.“

“What an amazing experience at Meteora. I absolutely loved the atmosphere, the aesthetics of the decor, the service and the food. This was my second time here as I came shortly after they opened years ago and this time around was a delight. This immersive space is worth the reservation alone. It's so pretty and innovative. The ambience is so warm and welcoming. The manager is amazing as he was very attentive in meeting our request for specific seating. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable about each entree. The wine pairing was perfect. I do have one critique regarding the meal. The Japanese Yam dish was served charred. I have a very refined palate and I could tell immediately that it wasn't charred but rather burnt. I could not eat the yam as it was quite bitter. Other than this hiccup, the meal was delicious. I truly enjoyed my second visit and will definitely return as well as recommend Meteora to friends and clients.“

“My brother and I had the most amazing night of superb jazz and food this past Sunday, entertained by Betty Bryant and ensemble. Her fingers moved like liquid gold on the keyboard and her compositions were witty and mesmerizing. The word that kept coming to mind as they performed was "subtle." The music was powerful, but so discrete as to be gentle and gentile. Woodwinds, Bass, and Drums - all played with the kind of delight that makes everyone love the performers as well as the music. As for food, one dish stood out particularly: the creamed spinach with blue cheese. Please tell Chef I would love that recipe! I'm back home in Tennessee now and plan to attempt to copy it, but having the authentic recipe to serve to friends when we entertain would be over the top! “We have been going to Horses ever since they opened since it’s right in our neighborhood. The most friendly staff with a big shout out to Amanda. The most amazing craft cocktails and absolutely delicious food. I think we’ve almost tried everything on the menu and have not been disappointed once. Can be hard to get a reservation, but we usually get there at 5:15 and are able to sit at the bar with no problem.“

“I have dined here twice, once for breakfast(which was amazing) and once for dinner. My recent visit was two weeks ago for dinner for my sister's birthday. Our food was absolutely scrumptious, everything we ordered was extremely DELICIOUS. There were five of us and all of us enjoyed our selections. “My cousin and I came here on a Friday evening around 6:30 PM and were pleasantly surprised that we were seated right away with no reservation. The vibe was beautiful from the moment we walked in. The lighting was cute, there was a pool in the center of the space, and everyone was dressed up which added to the atmosphere without feeling too formal.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming from the start with lots of smiles and easy conversation. Our waiter was incredibly kind and genuine. The only issue was that he forgot to put in our order the first time so he had to come back and take it again. When the food came out he forgot a few things but he seemed a bit overwhelmed so maybe it was just a busy night.
The food came out very fast and it was absolutely amazing. Everything we tried was flavorful and beautifully presented. The menu had so many good options that it honestly took me a while to decide what to get because I wanted to try everything.
Overall it was a great experience. There were a few bumps in service but the overall vibe and quality of the food more than made up for it. I would definitely come back.“

“To start, we really do love the food but we always get take-out and of the 10+ times I’ve ordered EVERY SINGLE TIME ITS A NIGHTMARE TO PICK UP.

The pickup area is in the far corner of the restaurant and a sign in the front says wait to be helped. Somehow, it always takes at least 5 minutes to be acknowledged and then when I can finally get someone’s attention they either are very specific about the name on the order (ie, if I said Mike for Michael, they’d say they don’t see the order) OR they just say “it’s over there”. The one time I walked right over to pick it up they told me to please wait to be helped… please figure this out and I will be happy to give this otherwise delicious neighborhood gem 5 stars.“

We used to have a fire table like yours, so dining here always carries a sense of home. Last night we brought friends, and they said, ‘This makes it hard to go out to eat in Monrovia—our restaurants cut corners with cheap ingredients and fast turnover.’ What your chefs create is the opposite: dishes with not just incredible flavor but extraordinary texture and detail. Their expertise is off the charts, and I highly recommend.“

Cooked to perfection. Also we had the fluffernutter dessert.. honestly everything was Delicious!!!
