The omakase meal set was so good!! We went here for Valentine's Day and I made a reservation a week ahead of time, just to be safe, but I don't think it was necessary. I think walk ins were being accepted. We both got the omakase set, one NY steak and one filet mignon. So good! Cooked to perfection. Ending the meal with dessert, we had a wide variety of selection. We got one green tea crème brûlée (WHICH IS SO GOOD! Would come back just for this) and one mango cake, which was also so good, tasting like a gummy. For Christmas, we ordered a California platter at their location in Torrance on 190th St. Glad they're ipen on Christmas day 2022. The place looks rundown and dark and not appealing but the service was good and everyone was friendly. Placing an order was easy and our order was ready for pick up upon our arrival. They are in the same plaza as Walmart close to Starbucks. Lots of parking available. The California platter comes with California rolls, spicy tuna rolls, and salmon rolls. Everyone loved it and everything was fresh. They also give you the wasabi, ginger, soy sauce, little bowls for your sushi dipping. All was great and it was the hit at our party. Food didnt come in an orderly manner. We ordered hot tea but weren't told there were complimentary barley tea and green tea/oolong would be $3 each. So we ordered three green tea. Son asked for a refill and the server just came straight and gave him a new cup without saying a word that it will be charged another $3. The second round we all asked for a refill of tea and this time the server said there was no free refill and only barley tea would be served conplimentary. We got trapped with this tea charges without knowing and you can't find it anywhere on their menu. We will be cautious and ask if there are any charges on tea next time.“
“Great local sushi restaurant. Very old school feel to it, as it has been around for many years. Most of the customers are usually Japanese, so that's a good sign. The best way to experience this place is to do the omakase, which is $80 and much less than most places in LA. Very good sushi for the price. The oysters are also a must. The only negative thing I can really say is that they don't have chilled shochu, so you have to drink it on the rocks which dilutes the flavor. They have good house sake (Otokoyama), most places usually serve really cheap stuff for their house sake. Staff are very friendly. They have private rooms available.“

“The good: This is a super quaint and cozy Japanese restaurant with a simple interior that matches the simplistic Japanese aesthetic. I saw many Japanese patrons here so I got a good feeling about its authenticity. I got the chirashi deluxe bowl and mixed tempura deluxe rice bowl. My toddler and infant enjoyed the food as well! The tempura bowl came with a side of soba (you could choose udon instead as well). The soba can be hot or cold. I liked how they had kid high chairs and they put lids on the waters for the kids. They also had plastic spoons, forks, bowls and plates for the kiddos. I liked the roasted rice tea that they served for us for free. I liked the variety in both of the entrees. The broth in the soba was tasty and differed from the store bought mentsuyu broth base. The bad: There's no outdoor seating. The interior is very small so this isn't a great spot for larger groups. I think the largest table they had was a table for 4 unless they squish some tables together. The miso soup that came with the chirashi bowl was too salty. The tempura was slightly more mushy than I would've liked. The interesting: My husband and I created a "game" called the dinner decider where we draw out a restaurant name from a bag. This was our 4th draw!“
“Likely the best croquettes you can get in the US! Red Rock Express is a quick and easy option in the plaza that used to house the old Mitsuwa in Torrance off Carson. Their spot is small but clean and not usually busy with plentiful of parking. My go to is their meat and potato original croquette but they've got 5 different flavors now ranging from curry to cream! They even have a 5 pack for you to try one of every flavor but personally, my preferred flavor is just their original. My husband really loves their beef don. It's a hearty and heavy meal but the quality of their beef it absolute creme de la creme! Their egg on top when you mix it gives everything such a velvety smooth bite. I'd love to try to omurice next time as it's not common at a lot of restaurants out here.“

Kids 4 and under eat free, and 5-i think 12 are 1/2 off. What I'm not use to was the service charge, 18%. I asked if that's what the tip was, and the employee said, yeah kinda. Typically, that's what you automatically get charged for parties 6 and more, which we normally pay 20% anyway. But to be forced to pay 18% regardless, i think is unfair. Esp since minimum wage has gone up, and prices per person has gone up, it isn't fair for the customer to be triple charged. On top of that, the receipt still asked for a tip. I don't think an establishment should stick their hand out so much, it's quite embarrassing to put the customer on the spot like that.“
