“Mediocre sushi for fair prices.

I had a rainbow roll and miso soup. My total was $14.85 after tax.

The roll wasn't awful. The rice was slightly overcooked, so it was mushy. It also didn't taste like there was any vinegar. The avocado, salmon, and shrimp looked fresh. The miso soup was piping hot. It was hard to open the bowl because the surface was 163°F according to my phone's thermometer. There were a few pieces of tofu and seaweed.

I sat in the dining area, which was pretty clean and can accommodate up to 16 people and a small child comfortably (high-chair available). The restroom was closed when I visited. The music was a mix of Cantonese and Mandarin songs. It's quiet enough for a conversation.

As for the ordering process, you can use a kiosk or order with an employee, then sit down and wait until your number is called.

Everything is packaged to-go. They've gotten rid of their branded packaging and use generic options.“

“We come here about once a month. We enjoy mostly the combination dinners with entree (we get Salmon Teriyaki or mackerel), mixed tempura, California rolls, salad, and miso soup. “First time here. For being in Hayward, this Edomae-style restaurant is a treasure. The word to describe this place is: efficient. From the get-go you're informed to scan their QR code to access their menu/order. Maybe it gets better as you become a regualr; however, I felt detached from the sushi chefs even though I'm sitting at the bar. I like to order what's new/fresh...didnt even know they had engawa till I overheard the chefs discuss their current stock. Plus, the three chefs looked like they were trying to diffuse a nuke with time running out and so you're not inclined to disturb them. Not sure if they enforce their one-hour time limit as I didn't test it. The char, trout, belt fish, and black snapper were a nice add to the menu. Always appreciate room temperature fish; the texture just pops when presented in this manner. Hope to try again.“

“What can I say about this place? Well first of all it's really one of the best restaurants we have here in our little village of San Lorenzo California. We love coming here for lunch and having the bento box which has very generous portions and delicious food. My friend always gets the strawberry green tea and he thinks it is so fabulous. I like coming here with my friends and getting lots of different kinds of rolls. The staff is super friendly as well as very good at doing their jobs. They've always got smiles on their face and kindness when they approach your table or cook your meal. They have all different kinds of music playing so some days It might not be your style but that's all right just go with the flow. Twin brothers who look alike, JACKIE & VINCENT remembered our orders & drinks immediately as soon as we’re seated. “This place is a hidden gem seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The fish is super fresh. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The owner is also the head sushi chef, he's usually there. The Japanese decor creates nice vibes, the entry way looks like a historic Japanese house entry way.“

“Delicious and definitely fulfilled our sushi craving. I highly recommend Pocket Sushi no chopsticks required easy to eat, full of flavor, and so pretty to look at. I stopped by after work to pick up a few different types of pockets, the service was great and the food was fresh and made quickly. I waited no more then ten minutes for them to make my six item order and they brought it out to my car which was also very nice. We will for sure be back for more!“

“This Thai/Lao spot is truly a hidden gem in the Industrial area of Hayward off Highway 92. Fortunately, it's right off the freeway at the Clawiter/Eden Landing and you can spot it along the freeway.

Offering Thai and Lao food with some sushi rolls but I'm here for the Thai/Lao food as I love Nam Khao which is Southeast Asian crispy rice salad (with Lao pork) with plenty of flavor and textures accompanied with peanuts, mint, cilantro and lettuce for wrapping.

Royal Lao does a good one with plenty of bold flavors and heat (I asked for medium). The only comment I have for this dish it wasn't crispy (and not due to take out) so no crunch to it at all...no worries...popped into the air fryer and perfect! 4/5

:: Chicken Larb - ground chicken, herbs like mint, lime and fish sauce and chili with some cucumber and salad. - Flavorful and yummy. 4/5

:: Pork skewer (4) - good and juicy but could've been charred a bit to render some of the fat and get some caramelization from the sugars. Accompanied by a tomato-based sauce 3.5/5

Service friendly and efficient. Spoke to the owner, Noi and she mentioned the place has been there a year. Great option for Thai/Lao in the area as not many unless you go to East Oakland (Champa!) and head to Stockton's Angel Cruz Park.

Highly recommend stopping by. Place has a few tables for dining (no table service) but set up for take out. Pricing in line with similar spots. I'll definitely return to try other items and for the Nem Khao! Thank you Noi!

“Had the Chicken Teriyaki Dinner. The Service was fast and Inviting. Started with the Miso Soup that was really good. The Chicken Teriyaki Came with White Rice and a Salad. The Portions were A Decent Size and Boy was it good. All of It..Every Single Bit..I asked for extra salad dressing and I got it.Very good Miso Dressing...The Service remained great throughout my meal. What a great hidden Spot in the Pelton Center. It does depend on what you get, but if you find the good rolls then this will become your favorite spot in downtown Hayward for sushi!!“

“If you come here expecting fancy cuts of super exotic fish, you’ll probably be disappointed. However, if you come with an open mind to try different types of fish each seasoned and dressed slightly differently to complement the flavors and also to cater to a less ‘traditional’ palette, then Robin can be a fun experience. We set our price point at around $140 and was served a good amount of food we felt full after. Our server confirmed our dietary restrictions and preferences, and was able to customize each piece to cater to everyone. My favorite piece was probably the uni wagyu seaweed crunch. We came for a work dinner and ended up finishing 3 bottles of sake and had a great time. We were probably responsible for destroying the ambiance as we probably got abnoxiously loud towards the end. Good option for date night or for an expensive company dinner :P“

Torarenbou Sushi Bistro has absolutely earned a permanent spot on my regular rotation, and I can’t recommend it enough.
Let’s start with the Beef Udon — it was superb. Rich, deeply savory broth, tender beef, and perfectly cooked noodles. The kind of bowl that makes you close your eyes on the first slurp. A must-order even if you’re there for sushi.
Speaking of sushi — the quality here is genuinely impressive. Fresh, clean fish and thoughtfully assembled rolls. My personal favorites are the Salmon Avocado Roll (classic done right — buttery salmon, creamy avocado, perfect ratio every time) and The Gambler, which lives up to its name in the best possible way. Every bite feels like a reward.
And then there’s the wasabi situation. I won’t spoil it entirely, but let’s just say you might think you’re grabbing something else and get a surprise little kick. “A small spot located in downtown Hayward is a great spot for some fresh and tasty sushi. I didn’t take picture of everything we ordered, but ordered chicken teriyaki, chirashi bowl, a special roll and nigiri. All were good quantities for the price. The place is small and tight space with only a few tables, but such a good spot. They do takeout as well!“

“Amazing food and great presentation! We ordered several sushi rolls, poke bowls, takoyaki, and fried appetizers, and everything was fresh and delicious.

Friendly staff got us seated right away and we started with a round of appetizers. Gyoza, chicken karaage and a Toro Nigiri special started off the night and everything was delicious.
