My writeup reflects the positive experience that I encountered at Cognoscenti Coffee on our interview date. Modern meets comfort with a hint of retro inside (and outside) Culver City’s Cognoscenti Coffee. “I love Freddo. Their coffee and ice cream are fantastic (I love all of their Dulce de Leche flavors). Their empanadas, medialunas, and alfajores are great too. The people working there is nice and friendly. There is a nice patio in the back too. Parking can be tricky but you can always find a spot if you move away from Ventura. It’s open late too, so if you are looking for a espresso in the evening, this may be just the place for you“

“Stopped by Be Bright Coffee and ordered a cortado made with their Colombia Paola Trujillo Wush Wush Natural. The coffee had tasting notes of blood orange, red currant, honeysuckle, and tart cherry juice, which made it a really interesting coffee to experience in a milk drink.

The cortado itself was very well executed. The milk had a smooth, creamy texture with strong integration, and the body remained cohesive throughout most of the drink. As I worked my way through it, the espresso and milk continued to hold together nicely without developing a thick or separated layer of foam. The tasting notes had good clarity and came through well in the milk. The latte art could have been a little cleaner and more defined, but that’s a minor presentation detail and didn’t take away from the quality of the drink.

My main technical feedback would be the temperature. It was served just slightly hotter than I think it should have been. The flavors were still clear from the beginning, but the difference became noticeable as the cortado cooled. The coffee really opened up, and those fruit-forward characteristics became even more expressive and enjoyable. Starting the drink at that slightly lower temperature would have made the experience feel more dialed in from the very first sip.

I gave Be Bright four stars, and part of that comes down to the $10 price of the cortado. At that price point, I think the expectations naturally move into a different category. When you’re paying $10 for a cortado featuring a coffee like this, I’m expecting the execution to be as close to perfect as possible. The slightly higher serving temperature, along with the minor presentation detail, was enough to keep this one from reaching that level for me.

The customer service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and the person working the register was especially nice and made the experience feel inviting. Overall, it was a very good cortado with quality coffee behind it, and I’d definitely return to try some of the other beans they offer.“

They really know how to brew specialty coffee right. This is the kind of coffee you should be able to drink completely plain and still enjoy. It’s not too bold, not bitter, and you can actually notice different layers of flavor in the cup.
I know there are other places in LA doing this style of coffee, but in my opinion Intelligensia is by far the best one.“

“Grade A+ (96): Small little kitchen, don't know how much food can come out of it!! They have a small little sitting area, but we most often do it as take out. The Jambon Beurre (Ham and Butter) are my favorite, the Baguette 🥖 is awesome and they put a hefty amount of butter and French Ham very thinking sliced. The Ham & Cheese and the Chocolate Croissants are very good but you have to go early, by 12:30 they were sold out! The guys are very friendly, prices are a bit on the high side but what can you do, it's unique.“

I walk in and 무풍상태 by Happy End Plus Alpha is playing. I think to myself someone here has great taste in music.

Three guys are standing behind the counter and all three instantly greet me and are super friendly. Explaining the menu and what they think I should try.

I took their suggestions and went with it.

All of their coffee has at least 3-4shots of espresso so be prepared to be full of energy.

This place is easy to miss and pass by.

If you’re headed down Sunset and see that little green building make sure you stop. This might be one of the best coffee spots in the area.“

“I’ve had this coffee shop on my list and finally went this week. I had brunch nearby so I just walked 6 minutes to this shop so I didn’t have to move my car , so I cannot speak as to the parking situation. As soon as you walk in, the vibe is so cool. The vibrant funky colors of the 70’s era was cool. They had Tarantino movie memorabilia all over the shop. It was quiet enough to have a conversation. I saw two other people working on their laptops. There’s outdoor seating but it was over 95 degrees this day so we opted for the cool AC indoors.

I ordered the brown Suga cinnamon iced lattes with oat milk and omg I’m still thinking about that latte. It was soo good. Not too sweet and not strong. It was just well balanced and had plenty of cinnamon which if you’re a cinnamon fan, this is gonna be the drink for you. I would come here again for sure and order the same thing. I don’t even wanna try anything else. It was just that deliciously made.“

“Sarah is such a sweetheart! I’m not sure if she owns or manages this location, but she was delightful either way. I tried an espresso to see if I liked the flavor & ended up not being a fan of it. The espresso is fine, I think I prefer a different flavor profile. She offered me another espresso to try and I liked it better! To top it off, she let me take a bag of espresso home to try, just because she likes coffee & sharing it with the community. “Came in for the first time and the cafe had such a nice atmosphere surrounding it. The latte I ordered was delicious and had a wonderfully tasting espresso. I also got one of their lunch sandwiches along with some fries which were both crafted beautifully and not what I was expecting from a cafe. I had to end it with a pastry because they all looked so yummy and the one I chose definitely met that standard. Staff was friendly and helpful as well. From someone who also works in a very similar environment and can be picky, it was very much worth it. I do recommend and will 100% be back!“

“One Scape is by far one of my favorite coffee shops to visit. It is such a relaxing atmosphere. All the baristas are extremely friendly and just amazing. If the coffee doesn't make your day, they will. If you are more so a coffee drinker their cold brew and hot lattes are great. If looking for something sweet or coffee alternative the pine refresher is a must and they can always adjust the sweetness. Definitely a place to stop by and stay awhile.“
