We wandered into The Cat & Fiddle and—wow—what a find. Picture this: an honest-to-goodness English pub that feels like it’s been teleported straight out of London, but somehow landed in the middle of Hollywood. No pretense, no velvet ropes, just old-school charm and ridiculously good food.

The fish and chips? Best I’ve ever had—crispy, golden, perfectly flaky. (Basically, if you don’t order them, you’re doing it wrong.) And the staff? Let’s just say they’re the kind of people who make you feel like you’ve been a regular for years, even if it’s your first time through the door.

“We are visiting town from Texas and ran across Irvs burgers in Balboa. Service was friendly and quick. Breakfast burritos was perfect and the patty melt was amazing. “The Melt truly delivers an outstanding burger experience. The burger was fantastic—juicy, flavorful, and literally melted in the mouth. You can tell quality ingredients are used, and everything was cooked perfectly.

Service was excellent as well. One of our burgers was missing an egg, but the service recovery was handled impressively. The staff came back promptly with the egg and even refunded the burger, which showed great professionalism and care for customer satisfaction.

We also tried the cookies, and they were amazing—soft, warm, and genuinely melt-in-the-mouth.

“So so good! Their basic house salad had a very clean, delicious taste with a lemon vinaigrette. We also got a cheese pizza and 10/10 would recommend. Was a thin crust pizza but good crispy crust, not too thin. I got a strawberry spritz, non-alcoholic drink that was fresh and my friend got the Espresso Martini. I'd never tried one before but had a sip and will absolutely get it next time, very smooth. The bartender was nice and attentive.“

They were not skimpy with the ingredients. The only problem was it needs free refill of the broth because it was damn good! Pad kee mao hits the spot too! The 5 stars spicy level was just right for us, for others might be too spicy. Also appreciate the fact that the price for the brown rice is the same as the white rice. Absolutely recommend this Thai place if you're in the area and we will definitely come back next time!“
