“Truly the best sushi in Denver and one of my most favorite restaurants ever! I absolutely love the heaven Roll and the Taki black pepper tuna rolls! I have gone to many coastal restaurants that serve sushi and none of them compare to Shiso sushi bar! They also have some nice non-fish items such as the teriyaki chicken bowl, my friend had ordered that before and it was really good! They truly are one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. They take extra precaution for cleanliness, customer service and quality of their food and I appreciate that so much! I often times will order their food to go as well and it always is a hit! Their dining service is nice as well and there is quite a bit of parking which is always a convenient addition to any restaurant. The owner Ken is a great guy and always remembers us and truly appreciates his customer base. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and like I said it’s one of my favorites! It’s also very close to Sloans Lake which is the perfect activity to do before dining in, check them out!“

“I already love Sushi Den and when they came out with this new omakase style restaurant it did not disappoint. They way they talk about where they sourced the rice to the detail of what type of vinegar it uses on the rice. What was noted is how large the green tea mug is- that’s fantastic, and the bowl of edamame was also large. Minus a star reasoning- good food, quaint location, and friendly service, but nothing felt like “wow, I will brag about that meal”. And there are some sushi meals that I still think about today. So 4 is that’s it’s a good place to go, you’ll have really good meal, and it’ll be at the same cost of other places.“

“Went for a late lunch with a friend - there was a wonderful, quiet, relaxed atmosphere which I greatly appreciated. The booths by the window are generously sized and very comfortable. We feasted on specialty rolls, beautifully presented, and given their heft, consider the price point to be very reasonable. Everyone was so very nice and the food was (very, very good) excellent. Happy Hour pricing was actually quit generous. All in all, just a really great place. I will be back.“

“I wanted to eat a bagel and drink some wine after going to the movies, so I saw some carnivorous plants instead. Since I was still hungry and thirsty I got a haircut. My hair was upgraded and I also drunk a bottle of wine. I got a tattoo afterwards. My leg looks fantastic and my bagel was also delicious, but something was missing. I got some sushi. It was brilliant but not as good as this bagel. I got a second one. That was missing. The second bagel.“

“We had dinner here on a Tuesday evening to celebrate my birthday. We started with baked mussels, then I had chirashi for the main meal. My wife had fish tacos and we shared musubi and a California roll. Portions were generous and everything was delicious; the chirashi was a stand out in particular, which included a nice variety of thick sashimi pieces. Our waitress was friendly and very responsive, and prices were very good, particularly when you take the amount of food provided into account, Iwayama is a small place, so it was a bit noisy and quite busy, so I’d definitely recommend going early to get a table right away.

Another nice thing about Iwayama is that in addition to excellent sushi, they also have a nice menu for non-sushi eaters, including a hamburger and other Hawaiian-themed entrees.

Overall, I highly recommend Iwayama and we will definitely be back!“

“This was the most unique and delicious culinary experience I have ever had. It was not cheap, but it was absolutely worth every penny. The elevator was broken so we had to go through the back of the burger restaurant and enter through the back entrance of sushi by scratch, and although they apologized for the “inconvenience”, we thought it actually made the experience more unique! “Our miso soups and edamame arrived within two minutes of ordering despite Sushi Aji being at 100% seating capacity. Sushi platters followed quickly and the tuna and salmon lovers combo was one of the better bargains I've seen for Denver sushi with the tuna nigiri being melt in your mouth soft and the salmon fresh as well. All the rolls were great, the ginger was sharp and our server made sure we had everything we needed on a great cadence. We'll be back!“

“We got Spicy Tatsu and Tan Tan Ramen, gyoza, and a California Roll. The Tatsu is exceptional and I guzzled about all of the broth down. It has chasu (pork belly) and chicken, bamboo strips, marinated egg, bok choy, and seaweed. The Tan Tan has a spicy peanut broth with ground chicken. We’ve had the Tonkatsu and Miso on other occasions and I recall liking all of them. The restaurant is pleasant and staff is attentive and kind. They often have sporting events on their three TVs, so we got to watch some World Cup this evening, which was great.“

“My friend and I went here for Valentine's Day. We hadn't made plans because we weren't celebrating the holiday, so we had no reservations. The place was packed. The hosts were busy coordinating reservations that went as late as past 11 pm, as they were open until midnight. They were kind in their greeting and offered us space at the bar, if we could find it. We couldn't. As the wait time was over an hour and a half, we left to go somewhere else but decided to return a little later to check back at the bar. We found some seats that had just been cleared, so we saddled up for a chill time with chopsticks and great ambiance. We were greeted by the friendliest, most energetic bartender I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with while dining out, much less when a place is that busy. She had a smile for miles as she walked us through bar suggestions featuring her alcohol favorites. The reason we rallied to try again at Hapa was that my friend has a serious gluten issue with his severe celiac disease and has never had a problem with their dedicated menu. The gluten-free menu is extensive for such a specialized diet, automatically paired with their gluten-free soy sauce. Since we were sharing our samplings of sushi, sashime, salad, and sake, I went ahead and ordered from that menu as well. I didn't taste any difference in my experience. Our servings were well-timed with salad, main dishes, accompanying sake and wine... and, again, our awesome bartender sharing company with us, a truly gifted gal of service. If I tried to recommend this place more, I'd sound silly. That said, thank you for one of the best Valentine's Day, un-Valentines evenings I've ever had! We left happy with our choice for the night and full in our bellies!“

“If you’re looking at the price thinking it’s steep, the poke combo bowl is a ton of fish.

The fish is, as the owner explains, so incredibly fresh and the best texture/ flavor.

This place is real authentic Hawaiian poke. As good or better than a lot of Hawaiian poke we’ve had in major coastal cities like Seattle and Hawaii itself! Excellent product.

We also got the Chirashi bowl, but both agreed the shoyu limu poke was both the best value and just scrumptious.

Also points for good rice. Not sure how others screw that up but they do.“
