“I rarely write a review, primarily because most restaurants in the greater Hartford area are non memorable. But I ate in a very understated Portobello Pizza last night and I can’t wait to go back. The pizza reference is totally misleading since there is no pizza!!?? The owner /chef is absolutely delightful and what a talent. We had both calamari’s ( regular and New York style) and they were cooked to perfection. The breading was delicate and the sauce was sublime… bread dipping sublime. Although Shrimp Fradiavalo was not on the menu it was made with capellini and was the BEST I have ever had.just the right amount of heat , not garlic overpowered, with the sweetness tasting shrimp. When do you ever think about asking for seconds?? Then a delicious liquor infused cake for desert. My advice, run to have dinner there. It is that special.“
“We were travelling back home (a couple of hours) and drove about an hour out of our way to pass by and pick up the Birkin Bag, we drove another 2 hours home and enjoyed the meal very much. I would suggest anyone passing by, even if it's out of your way to make the stop, very nice place and great food! Wish you guys were closer to Jersey, maybe on our next trip eastwards.“
“I cannot say enough good things about this food truck and the wonderful people that run it! Owners are sweet, kind and caring. I had the lobster roll and clam strip roll. My boyfriend had the spicy fries and fried pickles (he’s vegan). The lobster roll was out of this world! So delicious, warm and buttery! I was amazed at how much lobster meat they included! Clam strip roll was pretty delicious and the sides my boyfriend ordered were so yummy! Cannot wait to try the lobster grilled cheese next time. Thank you Lobster Tales for a wonderful experience! Do yourself a favor and try them out! You won’t regret it!UPDATE: I tried the Lobster Grilled Cheese and wow! Wow, wow, wow! What a blessing for my taste buds! They are geniuses! Years and plenty of trips later, I stand true to my word! The food is incredible, the staff is kind and it’s an experience you won’t forget!! You’re probably thinking, it’s just a food truck, it’s not a big deal. It IS a big deal! Not only are you blessed with delicious lobster rolls that are overflowing with lobster meat along with delicious sides and yummy soda, you are also met with the kindest owners and staff who treat you like family and like one of their own! I even had a chance to talk to the owner because she decided to take time out of her day to approach me and thank me for the kind words that I had mentioned as I grabbed my food. How often do you get that?? I am and will forever be a Lobster Tales food truck fan and have been telling everyone I know about them! They truly are too good to be true! I’m just so grateful to have experienced their kindness and enjoyed their ridiculously delicious food! They are worth the drive! Please try them out! ❤️ ❤️Btw, I have driven across state lines and have taken long trips JUST to enjoy their food. They are THAT good! You won’t regret it! Dietary restrictions: When we first tried them out, my boyfriend was vegan and they were super accommodating all while serving the most delicious and fresh food for him! He was beyond pleased! They are amazing!“
“We came to celebrate our son becoming a state trooper. What a wonderful dinner we had. First and foremost our dinner service and server was wonderful. (Wish I remembered his name) first time and we will be back. Love everything about the place. ❤️❤️❤️thank you so.“
“Best Chinese food I have had in Connecticut! The egg roll was crispy with a good amount of pork. Pork fried rice was excellent! Great boneless spareribs! Wish they gave a bit more duck sauce. Will definitely be back! If you are looking for Boston area style Cantonese Chinese food try this place out!“
“There were four of us for dinner. Our first time to the restaurant. From beginning to end every staff member we encountered was engaging and friendly. Drink menu was fun and interesting. Food selection was diverse. Fried pickle chips were delicious as was the buffalo cauliflower. Quinoa bowl was delicious. Definitely will be coming back.“
“One of the best Po boy, we ever had, the shrimp and lobster tail boil the spice was on point. Our only complaint was the salad, it was supposed to be Caesar salad and was not, iceberg lettuce Mexican blend cheese and tomato definitely not Caesar salad. The dressing was good.“
“We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary (27 years). The first time we came was a few years ago and we had such an amazing experience. Tonight we were finally able to come back and the experience was amazing again. Everything from our drinks to appetizers, the entrees and dessert were top notch. Gosh I haven't had a great steak like the one I had Tonight. The 18oz. Bone-in Ribeye was cooked to perfection. Our server recommended the truffle butter to go over the steak and it was the perfect touch. It was paired well with a side of au gratin potatoes and creamed corn. Gosh what a meal! My wife was super happy with her steak as well. We definitely have to come back again soon. J. Gilbert's, thank you for an amazing night.“
“Idyllic Glastonbury, Connecticut is a hidden gem with mesmerizing scenic and picturesque natural beauty and a most deliciously eclectic food scene by the Connecticut River. Max Fish, one of the best places I've ever eaten, is an utterly tasty AF New England seafood-focused restaurant in Glastonbury, Connecticut that serves up the best of the best from the Ocean, an absolute seafood haven: delicious Jumbo Lumped Crab Cake, so decadent Lobster and Shellfish Linguine, and don't forget the creamy New England Clam Chowder. I needed to lap up all of that cheesy goodness and get stuck in Max Fish's epic Truffle Mac and Cheese. It treated my cheesy cravings as a Mac and Cheese addict. Max Fish surprised the hell out of my stomach in an outstanding way!“
“My favorite Thai restaurant currently in the greater Hartford area. The food reminds me of my mom's cooking. I make the trip from Hartford To New Britain whenever I want a piece of home. This small quaint restaurant packs a punch and doesn't hold back on flavor. While some places water down the flavor to cater to a broader audience Mai (the owner) chefs it up as if she is in her home kitchen cooking for family. You taste the loving in her cooking. There is limited seating but when you get the chance order a few dishes with friends or family and share the meal Thai style. You can always order in advance and pick up or utilize a delivery service. You won't be disappointed. Ask for Mai (pronounced May) and tell her Ty sent you. She will make sure you're taken care of.“
“It's always a good experience at capital Grille, and always a nice vibe. My only recommendation is there horseradish is not as a kick as most places I've been to. I think it's been sitting around for a long time, but other than that their oysters were amazing but I usually like to eat some horseradish with my oyster to get the cake and that's not the case.“
“I had been wanting to try Coracora for years and finally had the chance. The empanadas were the best I've ever had - delicious fillings, but a dough like the most amazing light pie crust. Creative, authentic menu, beautiful decor, reasonable prices, excellent service -- all came together for an exceptional night out.“
“Cromwell's little best kept secret! Honestly, I have tried about 4 Chinese restaurants in the area, and before that, have always loved Chinese food, making it a weekly choice to enjoy, and last night, was pushed away from my main Chinese restaurant because they had a 45 minute wait, and then found Ming Garden, and all I can say is... that is some GREAT Chinese food!5 STARS!!!!“
“Had the privilege of eating here today. As a person who doesn’t eat out often, and loves to cook I was very impressed by this place! We went for lunch and I had the double burger with grilled veggies and my mom had the lamb gyro. They catered to my dietary needs and were very friendly. My mom said it was the best gyro she has ever had, and my burgers were so delish and cooked perfectly. I can’t wait to try their oxtail cabbage soup. I can’t recommend this place enough and hope to come back when I’m in the area.“
“My favorite is the salmon and Rasta pasta (spicy). Food is great and service as well.Located downtown Hartford. You can take it to go or eat in. Cozy little place. I come from New York at least once every two months to get my food from this establishment“
“My friend and I stumbled upon this culinary delight and were incredibly pleased. The food and service were outstanding - my scallops (and everything else) were cooked perfectly. It is BYOB with a liquor store very conveniently next door. It is a small interior, so definitely recommend making reservations for a large party. We can't wait to return.“
“DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THIS PLACE! If you’re thinking about going here, don’t think, just go! The food was absolutely delicious. The lobster cake special and salmon special were amazing. The shrimp scampi had the most juicy and flavorful shrimp I’ve ever had. The bread and clam chowder were great. We got a massive salad with our entree and they sent us home with a fruit basket!! Our server was friendly and the service was at a great pace. The atmosphere had very cozy vibes. This will be our go-to seafood spot and could be yours too!“
“Well, I found my new favorite Poke place! The atmosphere is clean and refined and gives off a nice minimalist vibe. But the food is on another level. Some other poke places charge $15 a bowl for stale ingredients flooded by sauce to compensate. Not this place. Every ingredient tastes fresh and gets its own spotlight. The spicy salmon didn't overpower any one flavor, and everything in the bowl just blended wonderfully. The texture of the rice was divine. I can't recommend the Johnny Utah bowl enough. The aftertaste of everything is fresh and pleasant, and there are so many different ways to customize your own bowl. If you're craving poke or haven't tried it, come to Poke Bros. You won't be disappointed! I know this is the first of many visits for me!“
“Whole belly fried clams are my obsession. And these are as good as any I’ve had on the North Shore or the coast of Maine! And reasonably priced. And the service was so courteous and friendly and humorous that I did something I hardly ever do… left a tip for takeout! If you love fried clams (and onion rings) you won’t be disappointed!“
“The seafood is wonderful, fresh and tasty. The huge full belly fried clams, scallops and oysters were fried to perfection. The Rhode Island clam chowder is the real deal full of classic flavor. Cindy, the manager was very friendly and gave good suggestions on the take out order. I would love to go back and try other seafood specials.“
“We have been looking for good Indian food since moving here and found it! The curries we ordered were great and very flavorful. Service was great as well. I only ordered take out but was greeted at the door and offered a seat. We will be back!“
“Food was fabulous. I had the salmon and my friend had eggplant parm. I enjoyed every bit. Crème brûlée delicious. Highly recommend. Not sure why this place got some low scores. The place was excellent and service excellent as well. Will visit again. Also love the bread. Although I am avoiding carbs I had to try a bit and I so wanted to eat the whole thing. Took a lot of will powers to not eat it.“
“Family style bar and restaurant. I've had a thick juicy cheeseburger and the fish and chips. Both dishes were nice large portions of flavorful and fresh tasting and well seasoned food. The place is friendly and well appointed. Prices are reasonable and service is great. The patrons are having fun socializing with each other. There are even families, but no young children. They are a mix of young and old. People are dressed in casual work clothes.“
“First time here at this location 2nd time eating at Hook & Reel. I will definitely come back here. The manager was amazing and very attentive to everyone. my waitress was great. We chose the all you can eat. There were lots to choose from. The food was fresh and tasty. I would recommend this location. The atmosphere was nice and chill. The place was clean . 5 stars from us.“
“Amazing place to get hotpot in CT. Great environment, great waiters. The place is really pretty and from what I have seen it is also a great place for people who don’t know how hotpot works. I’ve overheard the waiters explain so patiently step by step and it’s honestly amazing. Food is great, love their platters.“
“I have now had 2 post funeral luncheons and 2 volunteer appreciation dinners at Casa Mia and all have been outstanding. The staff and food have been amazing Everyone is friendly and helpful and very accommodating.I will always consider them first for any event that I have.“
“Brazilian/Portuguese food and sounds and tvs and music give it a cool ethnic vibe. Great place to hangout and enjoy yummy tasty food. Whether eating, playing pool, watching "the game", chatting, or chilling it offers something for everyone. Great Owner!!...feel free to strike up a conversation. THE BEST expresso in the state...just try it!...beats Dunkin or Starbucks Expresso 10 out of 10 times. Highly recommend.“
“Love Vivaldis in Avon ❤️ the staff is genuine, accomodating, and super nice. My son loves the chick parm dinner with garlic knots, my husband and I are big fans of the wings-garlic parm & buffalo.. they make an awesome grilled chicken salad over fresh greens. This thing is huge.“
“Hosted a birthday dinner for the husband last night and everything was absolutely exceptional. From the space, to the service, to the quality of the food, everything was absolutely top notch. Shout out to our server Pam who handled 20+ of us without missing a single beat. Worth of even more than 5 stars!“
“I have ordered both in and had food delivered. I love the food. I’m partial to the salmon, shrimp pasta and the j*** chicken pasta. That is also the three things I have tried from them. I first ordered the $5 plates to try them and have not stopped going since. It’s not your typical pasta. I love the combination of flavors and the subtle punch. I get tired of food easily but Ravi’s has definitely added some variety. I have recommended them to my family and friends. Love supporting a small business in our community. Pray prosperity over them.“
“Hands down the best Mexican food I have had in CT. My husband and I ordered the elote( off the Cobb) and the steak burrito. Everything was was seasoned to perfection and tasted made to order. Bonus: the customer service was superb. Can’t wait to visit again!“
“La comida excelente todo con un sabor único. Lo único que me quejo es que pedi una bolsa para llevarme lo que no me comí y la mesera me dice que se le acabaron. Sin embargo le compré otra orden para llevar y si tenía bolsa. Cosas pequeñas que dañan la reputación de un buen negocio. El servicio al cliente es más importante que la calidad de la comida.“
“We ordered tostones (flattened fried green plaintains) as appetizers. Then we had shrimp fried rice (a generous portion) and fried chicken with white rice and side salad... they were amazing! We definitely recommend this spot, especially if you have time before attending an event at The Bushnell. It is just a quick walk down the street.“
“This is the best soul food place that I have ever eaten hands down. My fried chicken was fried hard and crispy my Mac and Cheese was cheesy and to die for. the potato salad o my goodness delicious! I almost forgot to mention the banana pudding is off the chain!.... stop wasting your money at these mediocre fast food joints go to Hot Pockets on Main Street in Hartford CT and get you some real food!“
“I love the food from this place. My coworkers (Eddie) got me hooked on this place. This place is his 2nd home. The only set back I have is that every time I want the cuttlefish they always run out of it. Bummer!Sorry no pics this time as I was so hungry I forgot to take them before we dug into the food ?.“
“One of my favorite Indian restaurants. They have a wider variety than many area restaurants, and I've enjoyed everything I've ordered. The staff is really friendly and attentive, and it's a place I bring friends to. Love their samosas, samosa chaat, the saffrani pulao is one of my favorite dishes ever, anywhere.“
“Great atmosphere and a perfect spot for date nights and intimate birthday celebrations. Max Oyster Bar is classy, delicious and a local favorite. Fresh oysters, impressive fish dishes, and beautiful presentation! Don't skip dessert. OH SO YUMMY!“
