“Although my wife and I have not yet had the chance to experience Sushi by Scratch, I felt compelled to leave a review because of the exceptional professionalism and kindness shown by their staff. I made a reservation for my wife and myself as a Christmas gift, something I was genuinely looking forward to. Unfortunately, due to my military lifestyle and unexpected deployment-related schedule changes, I had to move the reservation twice and ultimately cancel until I can lock in a more stable schedule.

Throughout the entire process, the team was incredibly polite, understanding, and professional. They helped me immediately every time I reached out and went above and beyond by fully refunding my deposit without hesitation. That level of customer service says a lot about the values of this restaurant.

I truly appreciate the respect and understanding shown toward my situation, and I’m very much looking forward to finally experiencing Sushi by Scratch with my wife once I’m back and able to plan properly. Based on the service alone, I have no doubt it will be worth the wait.“

“We had a great experience. We came in on a Saturday night, no expectations and they sat us fairly quickly considering the crowd. We had one of the best servers we’ve had in a while (Brianna). Food was excellent. The Bao buns were our favorite.“

“The first time I went to Ogawa, it was on a fluke at the suggestion of a friend of mine who had been there before. I had no idea what to expect. I walked into a very petite intimate restaurant with only. 11 seats. The experience from start to finish was extraordinary. As a New Yorker, who is also in the hospitality business, I have high standards especially around sushi and Japanese cuisine. The food, wine and sake pairings and attention to detail were outstanding. Each course was better than the next. We met the sushi chef, the culinary chef and the owner. They were so lovely and made our experience so special. I look forward to my next visit.“

“I would not just recommend this place I would come out of my way again in a heartbeat. It is so relieving to actually find a place that has great service again. I feel after the pandemic, it's really changed the service force. It was such a fresh breath of air to have such an amazing time and service! I had a party of 11 of us for my birthday, and we were treated with smiles, and taken care of like kings. The food was phenomenal! Some of the most beautiful, fresh seafood I have ever had in my entire life. I've been traveling seven years full-time, and I will definitely be coming back just to eat here! The patio is absolutely gorgeous! It will soon be right on the ocean once they are finishing some construction! “Great sushi spot with incredibly fresh fish, everything we tried was tender, flavorful, and practically melted in the mouth. The ambiance is low-key and more on the fast-casual side, but it’s lively and bustling in a fun way.

Another bonus is the location: there are plenty of shops around, so it’s perfect for a walk right after your meal. Overall, a great choice if you want high-quality sushi without the formality.“

“I don’t normally write reviews but left Aoko last night pleasantly surprised. I usually stick to my go to sushi spots but tried something new and thank goodness I did. This low key but still extremely elevated spot is a great spot for date night. Come dressed up or come as you are (I was in athleisure), the vibe lends itself to whatever you’re in the mood for!

The food was phenomenal and couldn’t believe they had cold soba noodles (Cha Soba Salad) on the menu… Miami has finally leveled up lol! I have to go to NY typically to get my fix of delicious cold soba noodles!

Now the service was also incredible-they allowed us to try a few sake options before we decided which was very generous. Servers are extremely kind and add to the vibe 100%. We showed up with no reservations and they kindly let us sit down. There are only few tables so a resi is recommended or come early.

Everything about this experience was 10/10 and this may be my new go to Friday spot! Miami, let’s keep these folks booked and busy because this is a gooood one. Need more authentic spots like this.

Oh and the matcha crème brûlée is also a must!!!!! Love it there. Thx goodness I live so close.

Price was also right ~$120 without tip for 2 and a bottle of sake is pretty unheard of these days. Quality of fish and everything was phenomenal.“

I loved this place! Total hole in the wall vibes, but in the best way possible—so cute and cozy inside. The staff were super friendly and made the whole experience even better.
I ordered the Tataki Roll and it was incredible. It came wrapped in soybean paper with cream cheese, avocado, crab salad, and salmon, then topped with tuna tataki, spicy mayo, eel sauce, microgreens, and crispy rice. Every bite was flavorful, fresh, and just the right balance of creamy, crispy, and savory.
If you’re a sushi lover and appreciate a low-key spot with top tier rolls, you have to check this place out, also had some of the Dubi sushi roll & cookie with ice and it was AMAZING! Easily a 10/10!“

“I ordered takeout from Pubbelly Sushi for a friend of mine, and honestly, it reminded me why this place never misses. She always craves the Big Eye Tuna Roll, and for good reason the combination of the tuna with salmon on top and that crispy rice just hits every time. The textures alone make it worth ordering again and again.

I also ordered the Korean chicken wings, and wow those were amazing. The flavor was perfectly balanced enough seasoning and sauce to be super satisfying without feeling overly heavy. It had a nice kick to it too, just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting and leave you feeling satisfied, not stuffed.

For myself, I went with the Dragon Roll, which is my all time favorite here and always consistent. The only thing I wish I had done differently was adding extra spicy mayo (or that special mayo) to the Big Eye Tuna Roll it would’ve taken it to the next level.

Overall, everything was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I was craving. Pubbelly Sushi is one of those places you can rely on whether you’re dining in or taking food to go.“

“This is truly a hidden gem in Miami. The best sushi I have had in this city has been this restaurant. I have came here twice and both times the sushi and service has been excellent. The quality is amazing and everything on the menu is refreshing and delicious. My favorite item is the spicy tuna crispy rice and I loved the spicy trio. The fried cheesecake was an amazing finish to the meal. Also the pad Thai I had on my second visit was amazing and I will definitely be coming back all the time. I asked for the vegan box listed on the menu, but was told they did not have all the ingredients to make the usual dishes, so the chef Kevin created a menu just for me. He was so creative, inventive, and excited about every dish he brought out of the kitchen, and each one was more delicious than the last. I am technically pescatarian, so a few of the dishes had fish sauce, but he would have easily accommodated me with a vegan or vegetarian menu as well. “Absolutely incredible—I don’t even know where to start! I came in Friday for lunch with two colleagues, and we were all blown away. The service, the food, and even the prices are unmatched—almost too good to be true.
I ordered the Black Tonkatsu, which was marvelous. The egg was perfectly soft and yolky, just how I love it. I also tried the gyoza (good, though nothing special), but the spicy mayo onigiri was remarkable. One bite and I felt transported back to a chilly Friday night in a little alleyway in Japan—pure nostalgia. This food is authentic, and it shows.
They even offer shaved ice! Sadly, I didn’t have the space (or time) to try it this visit, but there will definitely be a next time, and I’ll be saving room.
The vibe and aesthetic of the restaurant are small, cozy, and authentically Japanese. Service was just as outstanding—Marco was fantastic and made the experience even better.
