Feels friendly, lots of tables and a huge bar area with plenty of seating. Food looked good although I only came for pastries. “I stopped by today, excited to try some authentic Greek pastries. I was not disappointed! The lady serving me was absolutely lovely and gave me some free samples. I ended up trying a variety of things. The portions are huge and will last you several days. The pastries themselves are definitely authentically Greek (I am European and I’ve been there multiple times), and they are light, moist, and flavorful. I give this place my fullest recommendation.“

Meet the Stefan Sampler at Evergreen Butcher + Baker in Kirkwood:

🍒 Cherry pistachio financier: a small, buttery almond-style cake with cherry and pistachio.

🫐 Blueberry muffin: simple, classic and loaded with blueberry goodness.

🍪 Oatmeal raisin pecan cookie: chewy, nutty, a little sweet and basically everything I want in an oatmeal cookie.

🥐 Kouign-amann: the star of the show. A buttery, sugar-laminated Breton pastry from Brittany, France, with a crisp caramelized exterior and flaky layers inside. Its roots trace back to one of France’s historic Celtic regions.

Evergreen is part bakery, part butcher shop and part neighborhood market, with breads, pastries, quality meats and a small selection of goods you can take home.

The people working there could not have been friendlier, which made the whole stop even better.

And apparently I picked the wrong day for one of their most famous items: the cheeseburger. It’s the Sunday sandwich special, so I already have a reason to come back.

The design was stunning and really stood out, but the real surprise was inside — layers of rich dulce de leche and fresh raspberry filling that created the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. I went over to the digital menu, ordered the larger cookie 4-pack (pictured) and made payment on the same device I ordered on. The cookies came out after about 3 minutes and the baker showed them to me before closing the box and handing it to me with a smile.

Yesterday, I stopped by one of their Atlanta locations and was truly disappointed to learn that they no longer make their spectacular “King Rosetta”. I would highly recommend the Strawberry Crepe Cake, which was also recommended by someone working here! The dessert is beautifully light, and the sweetness level perfectly complements the strawberries in between the layers. The crepes are nicely thin, and the overall structural integrity of their crepe cakes is fantastic. We also tried their Red Velvet Cupcake, Red Velvet Crepe Cake (which looks absolutely gorgeous), Strawberry Shortcake (also looks particularly beautiful), and Dulce de Leche Crepe Cake.

Our guests loved the jack and coke infused chocolate cupcakes and strawberry champagne infused cupcakes. As the bride, I was too busy and forgot to try a strawberry cupcake and man do I regret it! They looked amazing and we’re gone so quickly! We also had the banana pudding shooters and apple pie bars.
