“Last week stopped by Big Shanty Smokehouse in Kennesaw, Georgia. I’ve been going here for years and always has been one of my favorite places in Georgia. Paul Holden of Willingham's World Champion BBQ recently took over as the new owner in August and excited to see what he continues to bring. He’s top notch pitmaster in the competition world but also has been in the restaurant business as well. I got the brisket which was amazing and also some of their signature Turkey ribs (Friday Special) and of course some Brunswick stew and Mac & Cheese. Everything was very good and will be back soon. Currently they are open Wed-Thursday 11am-2pm & Friday-Saturday 11am-7pm. (So stop by and see them.) “Noticed that the old bbq place / Pizza Hut on Piedmont & Sandy Plains had a refreshed look, so decided to stop in & see what was new. Really glad we did ! The owner (one oof the owners ?) Darrel, told us all about the changes since they took over last January and was super friendly & helpful with menu suggestions when I told him we hadn’t been in before. Fresh made sides, and tasty, tender ribs along with several sauces (not really needed, but a couple were really nice) - the Carolina Mustard and the Habenero ones in particular for me. “If you’re in North Marietta and craving some good barbecue, Smokehouse Q is a spot you definitely need to check out. It’s located in a Krog Street Market-style setting with a bunch of different restaurants, but this BBQ place easily steals the show.

The moment you walk up, the smell of smoked meat hits you, and that’s when you know you’re about to eat something special. The potato wedges, mac and cheese, and baked beans are easily some of the best sides around, full of flavor and cooked just right.

The Reuben sandwich is the standout for me. It’s great on its own, but when you dip it into their spicy BBQ sauce, it goes to another level. The BBQ sandwich is also really good, tender and packed with that smoky flavor you want from a proper BBQ joint. And the ribs are absolutely amazing juicy, perfectly seasoned, and fall right off the bone. Plus, the prices are very fair for the quality you get.

There’s rarely a long wait, and the food comes out hot and fresh every time. If you’re anywhere near the area, make sure to swing by Smokehouse Q. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back the next day for another plate.“

“Love the drive-through option at this location. It makes me feel like the food will come out fast and it did. Customer Service is nice and the building is pristine as I expected for the Woodstock area. I’ve eaten at City BBQ chain several times in Sandy Springs. It’s funny that most locations have the same rating (4.3 or 4.4). I believe it’s because this place is incredibly consistent. You know when you come here that you can find something good to eat. Not everything is on the wow level, but it’s good and that’s a good thing.

Not many meal deals and the menu isn’t very elaborate but some variety. The ribs and everything fried is pretty good. Prices are fair in “today’s market pricing” although at mom and pop shops you may get a bit more quantity, but maybe not as much consistency and speed.

The little brisket platter at $11.49 looks small but it was enough for me. When you add two sides & a drink + a tip if you’d like, you’re $20-$25 for a lunch barbecue brisket meal. You could get the sandwich with a side for less if you want the breading and less meat. It had a little smoked taste, which I liked, I prefer long cuts on the brisket instead of these squares, some cut thick and some cut thin. Looked dry-was a bit dry on first bite but easy to chew, when I dipped it in the barbecue sauce, it was fine. I was looking for that pink smoke rim on the meat.

I am particular about mac & cheese, coleslaw, potato salad, so to save my stomach any issues I typically pick the safer options which are green beans, baked beans, fried okra, hush puppies, french fries, onion rings. The green beans were delicious with a good amount of meat inside. Not sure if it was turkey or pork. The okra taste was delicious but because of the oil, I definitely needed that soda to wash it down. I was quite sleepy after this meal.

Overall, because of the consistency and cleanliness, I’d recommend and come back here. I could order the ribs and brisket again, wish they had more sides like collard greens, baked potato, steamed okra, peas, southern style potato salad, corn on the cobb or kernels, corn bread. It does say city BBQ, not country BBQ, lol.“

If you’re looking for real barbecue, look no further. From the moment you walk in, the smell alone lets you know you’re in for something special. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the ribs were perfectly smoked with just the right amount of bark, and the sides — don’t even get me started on the mac and cheese and cornbread. You can tell they put love and patience into every plate they serve.

The staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home, like we were old friends dropping by for a meal. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and every bite was packed with flavor. Easily one of the best BBQ experiences I’ve ever had. Highly recommend — I’ll definitely be coming back (and bringing more friends with me)!

“I take my client out to eat twice a month and we have went to different restaurants in Acworth and she wanted some barbecue so a neighbor of mines had told me that they had a good barbecue pork sandwich but she didn't like the barbecue pulled pork,pork in the ribs was too fatty and the macaroni cheese was dry and didn't have no taste to it, only thing that was good was the fried okra and the roll ,and the Sprite at the machine it was nasty. she didn't like the coleslaw cuz it had pieces of the core all in it, so she took about four bites out of her pulled pork in a olive baked beans sell for a teaspoon of it but she said she didn't want to come back we should have asked for a refund but she said it was okay she just won't come back“

“I had Uncle C's for the first time this past weekend. The owners, a mother and son, were extremely nice and helpful. They operate out of their food truck amd the food they are putting out is amazing! We had the dark and white jerk bbq, bbq ribs, pulled pork, mac & cheese, and rice & beans. Everything was well-seasoned and tasty. The chicken and ribs were cooked to perfection and the sauce was on point. We will definitely be visiting again...soon!“

“I’m giving a 5 because normally it is a five however I got what I normally get which is half slab and 2 sides and it wasn’t hot at all not sure what happened the last time I visited I even followed 2 people that walked out and paid for thier meal because of my belief in how good this food is I always promote them on my tik tok page so when I placed my order the lady said hey ur the TIK TOK BOY yea she said BOY this was the moment I decided I won’t come back haven’t been called boy since I was a boy but I’ve always gotten great service and hot food maybe they was having a bad day and learn how to address men as men NOT BOYS“

“Really disappointing. We used to go here when it was owned by Sam and Dave. That was a long time ago. Recent visits convinced us not to go any more. Both pork and beef dishes were primarily fat, and the potato salad was dry with weird texture around the edges. And don't get me started on the lack of cleanliness. Sitting at a booth, the wooden walls were filthy--really disgusting. No, I don't own or work at or know anyone who has a competing bbq place. Just can no longer recommend this one.“

“This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. As soon as we walked in the hostess was very quick to greet us. She was very polite in checking that my dog “Lulu” was indeed a service animal. I’m sorry I didn’t catch her name as I was taking in the atmosphere. She was great at explaining how the HOT POT works. We were then immediately seated and greeted by our server. Our server Steven was AMAZING. Steven also made sure that Lulu was a service animal. He then walked us through making our HOT POT, Korean Bbq and buffet. Our drinks immediately came out he even brought Lulu her own sweet tea in a to-go cup The cups were never empty the whole meal. I let my husband go up to the buffet first as we do not take Lulu around other peoples food to be respectful. When my husband came back I went to the buffet and before I could get back to the table Steven already had our food on the table and meat was already cooking. The whole meal was beyond excellent. The manager even checked up on us and made sure not only was my husband and I taken care of but that Lulu was as well. We will definitely be driving the 1 1/2 hours to come back.“

A buddy of mine had the Catfish and wasn’t too impressed as it was quite dry but the rest of the food was delicious; fantastic shrimp! Service was impeccable & we throughly enjoyed the entertainment. “It's a food truck. It's hard to find good fried fish in Cobb. I ordered the fried whiting with sides of collards and rice n beans. The fish was fried and seasoned perfectly, not salty at all. The rice and beans were the best I ever had. I wonder if they sell a pint size of the rice and beans. The collards were good, too. I loved the food, a good value for the money. I will definitely stop by the next time I'm in that part of town.“

“My party walked in and placed a pretty sizable order. We sat down and realized the restaurant was closing in 5 minutes. I apologized and told the cashier we would take it to go- we had no idea they were closing. All of the staff were genuinely kind and accommodating, inviting us to dine in if we’d like. We did end up taking it to go (with a kind bonus of peach cobbler), and even though the food is outSTANDING- crispy and flavorful wings, juicy ribs, etc- we are impressed with the professionalism of the team working tonight.

But overall cleanliness makes me wonder.
I see mold on the vent covers on the entire restaurant which impacts tremendously air quality in entire restaurant.
Please address mold issues in the HVAC system, ductwork , vent covers and acoustic ceiling tiles .

“I've been coming here for a few years. One of my favorite items on the menu is Kimchi Jjigae. It comes out boiling and is very good. The wait staff often do a double take when I order it as it's not something most Americans prefer. I've been accused of being Korean in a former life. Another standout on the menu is the Donkatsu. They give you enough for two meals, and it's very good. The banchan (side dishes) are all good. I like the potato, eggplant, and fish cakes. They also have a kimchi pancake appetizer that I've enjoyed.“

“I just want to say thank you to the staff here at Longhorn. A week ago I had to put my dog down and called to get a steak to give my boy a great meal before he crossed over to the other side. I called in to find out what a steak cost by itself. I mentioned it didn't matter because it was for my dog and he only had one more day on the earth. I went in to grab it and pulled out my wallet and to my surprise the to go server let me know that things were taken care of. It might not have meant anything to you guys in the grand scheme of things, but it was a great gesture in the middle of a hard moment and I'm forever grateful for the act of kindness you guys showed. “Went there for the very first time today, Father’s Day, to celebrate my son-in-laws birthday.. it was such a fun experience, the food was excellent and our waiter was fantastic! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We all did the hot pot experience, but I will be back soon to do the Korean barbecue grill experience. “Whenever I crave red meat, Longhorn is my restaurant of choice so I’ve been to plenty of Longhorns in various states, and last night I was deeply impressed with how the hostess (the tall one) handled the crowd last night. I saw the parking lot was full on a Thursday night so I called ahead to know if the wait was going to be long so I can go somewhere else since I had a very productive day and I was hungry, but the hostess was so efficient and organized that I barely waited 10 minutes. My waitress and the store manager were all very helpful but the way the hostess was running things in the front, she was on it. She was a great first impression and I see leadership potential in her if that’s her desire.“
