“While the flavors are great, skip the shrimp tacos. For $20, two small shrimp per taco is frugal. You end up eating mostly tortilla and cabbage. Either think the tortillas or be generous and add a third shrimp! Better to purchase the mixed taco or any of the other proteins.

Update: I spoke with the owner, Joseph, who apologized for the error on our order and ensured this won't happen again. Our other dishes were generously portioned and overall, the spices and quality of ingredients were 👌🏼.“

“Some of the best noodle soups ever (BBH, bun rieu, and bun mang vit). We went in for breakfast hour and it's clearly a local spot.
All the soup broths were so flavorful both in spices and depth of meat flavors. Veggies/greens on the side were also super fresh. The duck was tender, the meat toppings in the bowls were generous.

Went for the Pho and we end up also having a spicy noodle soup (pork and beef) and some fresh spring rolls. Broth is good, not too greasy, portions are great.
Everyone was friendly!

If you want to park right in front you will need to pay for parking, however it can be validated at the restaurant. Parking at the Sams/Walmart parking lot is an option for 3 hrs, free.“

“Wow…we loved our meals. We stopped here by quickly on our way from Waikiki to the airport, and easily found street parking. The vermicelli bowls with lemongrass chicken & tofu (and a banh mi with pork + chicken) were so fresh, so filling, and really high quality. Delicious Vietnamese iced coffee. The service was kind, as well. Highly recommend for a relaxed & high quality meal!!“

This local favorite spot for Vietnamese food is made with high quality ingredients and sends you home not just with the lovely flavors lingering but a sense of wellbeing. “Great family owned Pho 🍜 restaurant! The broth is flavorful and clean, portions are large and priced better than a lot of places. I get the large combo (barely can finish the (XL) and I know there’s an auntie back there making it fresh everyday. I go there three times a month with my mom and would highly recommend for avid pho enthusiasts.

The ONLY downside is that the bathrooms are in the Chinatown Marketplace, which is absolutely atrocious. If you know, you know.“

“A co-worker and I tried out Kieu Vietnamese Cuisine on King Street after reading good things about the place. Our server brought out glasses of what we expected to be water; it was lightly flavored tea … A nice change of pace, especially since I don’t drink water, at least not au naturel.

We chose the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef soup) and Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio (vermicelli with grilled pork and spring rolls). These are dishes that we frequently order at P** V******, on Smith and Hotel. It took a while for our food to arrive, but each dish presented well. My vermicelli dish was smaller than one at P*V*, but it contained more grilled pork and the flavoring of the ingredients and the flavoring of the accompanying Nuoc Cham was more complex and richer. The sole negative, it contained less vermicelli, which for me, was a good thing because I’ve always struggled to consume all the noodles at the other place.

The soup for the Bun Bo Hue was rich, and I sensed an undertone of crab. Were crab shells used in the broth? I think so … My friend reported that the portion of pig knuckle was rubbery and tough … inedible, in his woods. Each dish cost $18.99, including tax. I enjoyed my vermicelli dish; my friend said he’d try pho the next time.“

“This is hands down the best pho. Locals coming in and out, families, individuals - everyone. The older gentleman comes and takes your order - remembered all of our orders off the top of his head. Must try their oxtail pho! Oxtail has a lot meat and pcs. So far I have not had highblood when I finish my oxtail pho which is good that’s why I keep coming back. I know that when I finish my bowl I won’t have any problems (but that’s my experience). Pho Time is my go to for oxtail pho, bun bu hue, and pho in general.

“We went there on a Friday about 6p. There is paid parking all around Chinatown but i went to 111 n beretania (parking structure)... go to the street level to enter restaurant from parking. Reservation not needed...but it does get busy. Atmosphere is like any typical asian restaurant and service was decent. The tamarind drink i ordered was a little sweet...i was looking for more tart. There is peanuts so be careful of you are allergic. The food was tasty, so I would eat here again.“

Is one of the new places still in the island that offers an appetizer of spring rolls (4) for a reasonable price, because I came across some other places where they cut the spring roll in a half or 3 and charge you per piece.

“Two co-workers and I were at Whole Foods and decided to try An Di Dzo for lunch. I ordered a French 75, a cocktail consisting of London Dry Gin, Sparkling wine, lemon juice and simple syrup ($15) while we perused the menu.

I had Vermicelli Cold Noodle with spring roll and pork (Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio, $19.50), Number 17 at our favorite place on Smith and Hotel Streets. Another chose Chicken Pho (Mien Ga, $17.75) while the third tried the Vietnamese Beef Stew (Bo Kho, $19.75). We split a Classic Combo Banh Mi ($15.50).

My vermicelli dish was fine, on par with the one at P** V******, but maybe not as good as the one at K*** V********* C******. I didn’t hear any complaints about the Mien Ga. The Beef Stew was petite but came with two large pieces of toasted baguette.
I was disappointed in the banh mi … the baguette felt stale and there weren’t enough pickled vegetables (do chua) and cilantro for me. I can get a better banh mi for $11 elsewhere.

What did I think? The food was okay, but we could get comparable dishes for less money at three places in Chinatown. I was hoping for more … As such, a rating of 3.75.

Postscript: The co-worker that ate the beef stew suffered from intestinal distress for the remainder of the afternoon. He was the only one to use the raw basil and bean sprouts. I was fine, as was the other person in our party.“
