“Amazingly good fried chicken!

Seriously, this place fed me one of the best fried chicken meals I've had in years. I've long said that my favorite fried chicken comes from Harold's on the south side of Chicago. That still hold true but only because the fried chicken at Brazen is a completely different take on yard bird.

The Brazen version is incredibly juicy and delicious. The breading is a bit lighter in color but offers plenty of those crunchy bits that makes really good fried chicken such a treat. The meat itself is juicy and fork-tender. Chicken in this country can be bland but that's not the case at Brazen. They locally-source just about everything and that includes yummy birds. Of note: the picture may not do the 4-piece chicken justice. It's a lot of food!

The bread and butter was a nice start. Great assortment of adult beverages (I had a McCallan 12 and a Eagle Rare Manhattan) from the bar. Service was impeccable.”

“An Unforgettable Meal in the Old German Bank! We visited The Vault last Friday night with a group of friends and had a truly wonderful time. The atmosphere is absolutely divine—there is simply nothing like the experience of dining inside the historic Old German Bank! As for the food, I cannot recommend the Blackberry Bourbon Glazed Pork Ribeyes enough. They were absolutely amazing. In fact, the glaze was the total show-stopper of the meal; my only regret is that I didn't have a side of bread to soak up every last drop of it! The rest of our group was just as impressed. The Bang Bang Salmon Bowl and the Prime Rib French Dip were exquisite, and everyone left completely satisfied with their choice. To top it all off, our server was fantastic and had a great sense of humor, which kept the mood fun and light all evening. Considering the reasonable prices and the unique setting, I would highly recommend The Vault for your next outing. We will definitely be back!”

“There was great live music during our visit. We got a coupon for buy one get one free drinks while staying at the Julien. The option to sit outside on the balcony was really nice as well. We weren’t in the mood for a large dinner so a charcuterie board and fried pickles were a good option.”

I went in there tonight. no food in the warmer. the kids that work there are sitting on the floor up against the wall doing absolutely nothing. Ended up with a pulled pork and pickle sandwich, first pic with fries....then they remade it but not sure about the pesto, unless Q pesto is white idk, it was ok but nothing to write home about. The waitress did comp my meal, but still not sure about the chicken pesto, 2nd set of pics.”

“Most of us had a good meal last night however one hamburger was very overcooked. When the manager came by and we told him about it, he put it back on us for not ordering it correctly. The server never asked how we wanted it prepared so apparently if you don’t specify they will automatically cook it well done. I think this should be a question the servers ask rather than a customer remembering to state that.”

“They have done an AMAZING rehab of this store - I was mind-boggled! It's gorgeous, bright and opulent inside. I got back to my hotel late at night and all the restaurants were closed. HY Vee has a huge selection of pre-made, delicious food choices. Grab a fork, I forgot!”

“Wow, on everything! Old school charm and decor, with amazing service and food. Definitely start with the Calimari and an Old fashion. Both are excellent. Next the salad with the house dressing and garlic bread were next level as well. The Fettuccine Alfredo, Seafood Italiano, Lasagna, Masala, and Seafood Special on the menu were all top notch. Stopped by Jitters Cafe in Dubuque and had an awesome experience. I grabbed a couple specialty coffees for my sister and my niece (who just found out she’s pregnant), and everything was perfect. I grabbed some to-go specialty macchiatos which were made exactly right — smooth, flavorful, and not over-sweet.
The service was fast, friendly, and full of smiles, and the atmosphere is really cool too: contemporary, clean, and just a nice place to be. Definitely coming back.”

“This walk up coffee chop has the smoothest coffee in town (in my humble opinion)! Although it’s not on her board yet, the Coffee Chop absolutely has the LARGEST variety of sugar free flavors! I don’t know the exact number (I’m guessing well over a dozen). Tammy and Maddy can make almost anything you want sugar free! Not to mention, I believe this may be the only place in town where you can get a 24 ounce hot drink. It’s the perfect grab n go place to stop at and they’re FAST so don’t let a line deter you from waiting!”

“We stopped at Cold Stone Creamery in Dubuque, IA on our way to Eagle Point Park. They had just opened, so we had the place to ourselves. The cashier came out right away, was super friendly, and patiently helped us decide between all the amazing options.

I ordered a Love It size Cornbread is My Jam, and my friend went with a Love It Reese’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Dream Shake. My ice cream was a little overmixed, so it didn’t quite look like the photo, or good enough for a photo—but it was delicious. The perfect combo of tart fruit, sweet jam, and moist yet crumbly cornbread. I can’t stress enough how tasty it was.

The peanut butter shake was also incredible—rich, creamy, and loaded with peanut butter up and down the sides of the cup. Both treats disappeared quite quickly.

Overall, the service was great, the treats were delicious, and I’d absolutely stop here again the next time I’m in Dubuque. Highly recommend.”

“Being the number one restaurant in all of Dubuque carries some weight, however only part of our meal was exceptional or at that level. The butter nut squash. With pear pizza. was extremely interesting and tasty the spinach Caesar salad extremely good the pepper steak soup depth with flavor and nicely done however, the Mediterranean pasta is extremely lacking flavor, taste, etc. this is why the rating is lower than we expected. The entree did not meet a level of number one. The white staff was extremely friendly, but kept forgetting to replace silverware. Hence a number one rating just cannot be excepted.”

“We tried Mario's Italian Restaurant for the first time this week. It is a old school neighborhood feel, with the most delicious Italian food. I had the Veal Cutlet Parmigiana with spaghetti. The veal was very tender and in delicious sauce. My wife ordered the Mario Panzerotti, which was plentiful and also very delicious!! Highly recommend giving it a try next time you're in Dubuque.”

The macaroni salad was mostly noodles and had little cheese in it. Would be great if it had some small diced celery for some added texture. Service was good. The tables and dining area were clean. Wasn’t a lot of parking available in it tight parking area.”

“I visited the Dubuque, IA Maid-Rite about 2:30 PM on Saturday, June 7. I ordered the Maid-Rite basket which consists of a Maid-Rite, fries and a drink (lemonade for me). The food itself was all good especially the Maid-Rite sandwich (I used to live in Marshalltown, IA a few blocks away from Taylor's Maid-Rite in that town). The service was just OK and perhaps a little on the cold side. I was not offered a refill on my lemonade, so I guess this means no free refills at this restaurant (ask for a glass of water or pay for another drink if you're still thirsty!).”
