The staff was friendly, my sandwich looks great, and they just all around looked like they loved their jobs which is so refreshing to see at this location. The man making my sandwich was dancing and singing and just made the environment friendlier than I’ve ever experienced. Not sure if it’s helpful, but one man was bald and one had locs, they both were very friendly. This experience gave me hope in this location again :)“

“I was in Iowa for a trip and tried McAlister's as it was near my hotel. The staff there are extremely nice and helped me get the best from the menu. Out of all the Subway sandwiches I’ve had in my life (and trust me, there have been MANY), this location is hands down the best. The bread is always so fresh and soft, they put the perfect ratio of topping on every time. And as if it couldn't get any better the staff are some of the most friendly people you will meet. Most of the time they remember my entire sandwich order and it's evident that the staff truly care about the important art of the Subway sandwich as much as i do. 8th wonder of the world is the Merle Hay Johnston subway.“

“I haven't been to Palmer's in a decade. I moved from DMI in 2006 but 20 years later they've expanded; offering the classics in a fresh way.

I just wanted a Magic Bar. They're so hard to obtain in the south but I saw the box lunch and thought why not. I got got the #14 Turnberry on sourdough. It's a huge mountain of Smoked Turkey, Havarti,, cranberry chutney & cream cheese. Sounds as if it doesn't blend but oh it does. The Sourdough was THICK; Texas toast slices. They loader a hefty amount of chutney and creame cheese to it too. Thus, a whopping sandwich! I was able to grab a garlic pasta on the side with one of their equally massive cookies.

I totally forgot that they go BIG! Big flavor, big bites, big impact, delicious bites

They take cash or venmo, and the waiting area has National Geographic mags from 2019. Highland Park is an amazing and diverse area with gems like this.“

“I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Subway today! The staff were friendly, professional, and made my sandwich exactly the way I like it. Everything was fresh — the bread was warm, the veggies were crisp, and the meat was perfectly portioned.

“Wanted to wait until I visited this new location at least four times before giving an honest review. Well, after four visits are not completed, I will say that the staff and owner of this place are doing things the right way! I used to be a subway and Jimmy Johns customer, but after visiting this location multiple times, I am now a Jersey Mike's customer. The owner is really outgoing and easy to talk to, making things more relaxing once the order is being processed. The staff that prepares the food are friendly also, and they aim to please as much as possible (within reason). The sandwiches are built with care, not sloppily put together like other establishments I have visited. The facility is clean, and safety making the sandwiches is always practiced. They are also very efficient getting the order processed in a timely manner. For the near future, this will be my "To-go" place for fast food. Thank you!“

“We come to this Subway often because they actually know how to make a veggie sandwich. At a lot of other locations, if you don't get meat, they barely put any toppings on it and you end up with a flat sandwich. This location is different—they actually make a filling veggie sub, which is hard to find!
It’s great to find a spot that doesn't skimp on the ingredients. Also, this is one of the only Subways around that consistently accepts the good coupons, so the value is excellent. If you want a sandwich that’s actually worth the price, this is the best location to hit.“

“I've been frequenting this Subway more often these days. This is one of my Go-To Subways.
I have tried Subways at quite a few places in Des Moines.
And, I can say - by far - this is the bets of the lot - both in terms of service and quality of food.

The staff is amazing. All of them do a wonderful job.
Rohin (or Arun) - He has been the one who takes care of my order most of the times. Very nice person, humble, with a great attitude, great listener and customer focused.
Jen - She is an amazing woman. Pleasant attitude, very attentive.
Rocky - He is another wonderful staff. Great service and nice friendly attitude.

Being a vegetarian, my options are limited. But, the staff makes sure that their hands are clean and washed and they take proper care of my dietary needs.

And, Rajesh - he is the owner and manages this outlet quite well.
