“Beef fried rice on par with New York level, for most garbage place that can't get anything right in Chicago this place excel at listening to orders to the tee. I'd recommend beef riced rice and pops. My experience has been most pleasant with the only two items I order. Good job keep it up don't lower your standards. I'm not getting robbed of meat to rice ratio a plus.“

“What an amazing place! I had heard how hard it was to get reservations at this restaurant and now I know why!!! I really thought how different or better could Sweet and Sour Chicken be than the hundreds of other times that I've had it, but now I know!!! From the appetizers to main dishes, everything was absolutely amazing. Such unique and delicious tastes. A must try and a must return!“

“The food is absolutely delicious. Fast, convenient, and oh so much flavor! I had the fried chicken steak jianbing and we also tried the original egg waffle and salted egg yolk waffle. Very excited to have them in the neighborhood and already can't wait to stop in again.“

“It's been ~4 days since we ate at Lao Peng you, and I still can't stop thinking about it. We heard about this place through watching The Bear, and it definitely lived up to the hype! We ordered the pork & dill dumplings, and the Dan Dan noodles, and it's honestly hard to pick a favourite. One thing to be mindful of is that the dill flavour was very strong in the dumplings (I love dill so this wasn't an issue, but thought it might be worth mentioning). My husband and I shared these two dishes and found them to be more than enough for the two of us at lunchtime. I wish I lived in Chicago so I could come back more often and try more of the menu!“

“Went to try this place for my 1st time. When I went in I wasn't sure if I was in the right place. They have construction going on inside and there wasn't a name on the building or inside. Felt confused if I was in some type of office warehouse or something not sure. But I have to admit their food was amazing ?. They have so many choices to pick from. I definitely will be going back to try different plates. The price for the bowls is fair not over priced.“

“I went in because I was craving affordable sushi and wanted to try a new place. To my surprise no sushi offered at this time :( Oh well. I was suggested the lunch special. It was a good deal and was fresh. General Tso's Chicken- The chicken was juicy with a nice crisp breading. The sauce was tangy, sweet and spicy! Yum :) The rice had a really good onion flavor with the right wok char. Not greasy and will leave you feeling good and satisfied. As for the location I found free street parking across the street. The place was quiet and clean.“

“The chili chicken was one of the best entrées I’ve had in the last 10 years. Their food is fantastic every time that we’ve been there and the service cannot be beat. This is a great family owned establishment and there’s no reason to go to any other Chinese restaurant in the city of Chicago Stars.“

“The food here is simply amazing from start to finish in each bite you taste the authentic way. The portions are reasonably great. The atmosphere is even better. The service is Top-tier The picture below is a takeout order with a combination of chicken, fried rice, sweet-and-sour chicken, Mongolian beef and of course, an eggroll. This is a family owned business located right in the heart of Elmwood Park on North Avenue if you have not tried them for or carry out or delivery what are you waiting for because you’re missing out hibachi, which is located in their back dining area separate they offer Specialty drinks to your Vikings this is one of my favorite“

“Also known as Asawon, my family has been coming to Peking Mandarin for decades. This is one of the few remaining classic Chinese-Korean restaurants that serve a lot of Chinese-American food and a handful of Chinese-American dishes that are enormously popular among Koreans. They also serve excellent champong, a classic spicy seaweed soup that is not too dissimilar to menudo, sans the tortillas. The trio of dishes we usually get are the spicy chicken wings aka lollipop wings (also available in boneless pork here), sweet and sour chicken (tan sauce, vs. the orange sauce in the American Chinese version), and black bean noodles. Last time we also threw in Mongolian Beef, which was surprisingly outstanding. Not sure if it was just a lucky day but the beef was infused with a smoky wok hei, unlike most Mongolian Beef dishes that are usually kind of watery and bland. I also like the black mushrooms & tofu, a classic Chinese American dish. The popular wings can sometimes be a little overcooked but the thick spicy sauce is usually on point. The primary competitor, Great Seas down the street, might have slightly better wings in a thinner more nuanced sauce, but the black bean noodles here are more generously sauced and slightly better, I think. I go back and forth between which restaurant that I prefer. My spouse prefers Great Seas wings but my family prefers Peking Mandarin for the other dishes and overall. They have large tables and are used to serving large groups, especially on weekends. The service is just fair and can be almost non-existent when they are busy. Be patient and bring cash. The decor is outdated but people here are regulars who come for the food, not to be impressed by interior design. This is one of the Chicago pillar restaurants devoted to food, not trends. I feel like those keep closing - let's keep this one open.Parking: Parking can be tight - we usually manage to find a spot in the diag spaces on St. Louis south of Lawrence.“

“What a lovely marvel - a mid century modern, quietly spacious Chinese restaurant with a select menu that fits in a small, two page flyer. The service was super friendly and gracious, all questions answered. We had a small dim sum lunch and each dish was prepared to order, some of the best I've had - steamed shrimp dumplings, bbq pork bau, sticky rice with pork wrapped in a leaf and steamed. Even the subtle music - beautiful jazz singing - made us happy. I so want to come back to this gem next time I'm in CHI.“

“If you read any of the reviews for Al's Drive In online, people have a ton of nostalgia for this place. I find nostalgia for a restaurant can play a negative role for those who don't have the association, but that wasn't the case for me who only ate here for the first time today. The Chicago dog and super taco were solid but the combination fried rice was the hero for me. Never thought l'd find this kind of wok hei flavor from a Chicago Red Hots institution in Maywood, IL that would remind me so much of the fried rice I grew up with at my Chinese immigrant family's restaurant in Arizona. Honestly just throw in some bean sprouts and you'd have a 1:1 copy. I may not have the same nostalgia that a lot of the usuals have with Al's, but that familiar taste of home is so present in every bite of this fried rice. I'm immediately transported to teenage me devouring a large combination fried rice at my own family's restaurant after working a full day's 12hr shift in the summer and immediately passing out in my bed when I got home. I wish I had started coming here sooner.“

“I have been on a hunt for the best Chinese spot in Chicago. I found it. I ordered the combo fried rice, Kung Pao chicken, Mongolian beef, and hot and sour soup. It was by FAR the best Mongolian beef and Kung pao chicken I have ever had. Insanely good, like I still can't get over it. The rice was good, nothing crazy, but good. The hot and sour soup was incredible. Vinegary, and rich, but still flavorful. I love that they added a bunch of green onions, definitely enhanced the flavor. This place was so good, that I am already planning on ordering from them tomorrow. Please try this spot out. WOW, that's all I can say.“

“Great hand made noodles, price was very reasonable for the dish I got, and the room was cute and well kept. It's not fancy fine dining, with all the extra fluff but it was a great place to pop in for dinner from the hotel I was staying at around the corner.“

“Good food. I usually hit sushi spots, ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI. I was kind of iffy about trying a new spot for almost 30, but for the new experience I had to try. Sushi was fresh and delicious. Plenty of flavor. Crab Rangoon is good. Might actually be a new spot for me.“

“Probably the best Chow Fun I’ve had a in a long time. I had some last week and today I had to get some more. So good. Paired this with a mango smoothie. The Chow Fun I requested to be extra spicy with shrimp. Don’t miss this place. The fried rice is amazing as well. It’s as if they grill the rice or something. There’s a little char on it at times that makes it so addictive and delicious. Beware, one visit will not be enough. So darn good.“

“Ordered from here for the first time, as it’s super close by and I’m beyond impressed. They left a nice personalized note with my order and the food was to die for. I had the crispy garlic sesame fusion chicken bowl with the garlic butter fried rice and chicken dumplings. The combination of flavors was amazing and for a great price. “I tried this restaurant for the first time today because my favorite local restaurant is closed on Mondays-but I think I may have found a new favorite here! The food was amazing. I got delivery and everything was hot and packaged with care. I had a slight issue with my order, not because of the restaurant, but due to the 3rd party delivery service that I ordered with. The man who called me on the phone from the restaurant was very polite, understanding, and accommodating, and he quickly resolved the problem. I ordered the Mongolian (beef), sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and crab rangoons. Everything was perfect! I will definitely be back again.“

“So I’ve been coming to this place since the 90’s. It’s definitely one of those places that simply satisfies and brings wholesome vibes into your comfort food. They’re very friendly and the food is unlike anything you’ve ever tasted. Cash is a must and it’s too small to dine in but you’ll definitely have enough for leftovers making them very reasonably priced. Don’t waste your money on Panda or anywhere else for that matter, THIS IS THE SPOT!“

“This place is only a few blocks away from our house. It's not a big one and it seems to be carry-out only. But they keep it clean and tidy as possible as they can. I feel so lucky that we've come crossed this hidden gem! The lady who usually takes our orders is friendly and unbelievably efficient. For our two persons' dinner order, it only takes chef to complete cooking in 15 mins and 2-3 mins top for her to pack it all ready. No matter weekday evenings or weekend rush hours, the average waiting time has never been longer than 20 mins. I highly recommend their Mongolian beef and hot and sour soup! We can't wait to try other dishes from this store.“

“I am not local, this is a regular go-to place for a friend, so when I visit with her, she wants to bring me. I had a Chinese Eggplant with chicken dish, flavorful and spicy. Also had some nigiri sushi, all very good. The Black Tobiko was plentiful and fresh. The Tamago and Inari, which are types of sushi that are deceptively simple seeming but really show a chef's knowledge and artistry, were excellent. I'm sure I will go again.“

“The atmosphere is your typical Chinese restaurant. They are newly owned. We have ordered the Won Ton Soup, Crab Ragoon, Egg Rolls, Combination Lo Mein……..all delicious! The seasoning of the meat in the won ton, the broth very good! I would like to see more veges in the soup, but it is still delicious. Crab Ragoon is the tastiest I’ve had and I’ve eaten CR many times. Combination Lo Mein, thumbs up??. Seasoned nicely. The shrimp was a nice size, chicken and beef slices as well. The taste of the proteins were good. It actually tasted like beef, chicken and shrimp! Now the best for last…the egg rolls! I have been searching everywhere for egg rolls that don’t taste like a cabbage roll. They have peanut butter in their egg rolls and what a yummy welcome! Back in the day, most added the peanut butter, but due to allergies many restaurants stopped adding peanut butter ☹️. Overall, Sun Eng’s is very good. Worth the try.“
