The Ponchatrain is one of the best main courses I’ve ever had. The eggplant Ponchatrain for an appetizer or hush puppies are hard to beat. “This place is AMAZING. Everytime I'm riding through Port Allen of course I have to stop and I always spend wayy too much money. They have lots of choices of meals or individual items. And if you like them they have a freezer section with most of the items to buy and bring home! They have amazing pepper jellys and jars of pickles, okra and asparagus that are out of this world. My order WAS NOT complete - the $8 cheesecake was NOT included, nor were there napkins or plastic ware or paper plate - so I had to resort to eating out of the bag. After waiting 45 minutes for the manager to call back to merely resolve the order, I had no resolution. Now - the restaurant will not answer my phone number. “My client (local) said this was his favorite restaurant in all of Louisiana, and it delivered. Off the beaten path but not too far, with an authentic ambiance you can "feel" as much as see. Service was excellent (shoutout to Sam B.), knowledgeable, attentive, and welcoming. I had a spicy bread bowl appetizer, Roberto's crab entree, and the black tuxedo pie a la mode dessert. I got the blueberry lemon drop and boy that was YUMMY! Like candy. I got 2, the second was more strong, but still delicious, probably my favorite one ever. “This is a typical local place with poboys, burgers, etc. I love going there on Wednesdays to get their chicken fried steak special. Our son loves to go there because they have a game room with a claw machine that gives out candy. We always leave full and happy.“

“This place is such a cute place, its family run business. They are so friendly and welcoming, there’s a reason why their customers keep coming back. There crawfish was on fire, coming from Texas, Louisiana crawfish is much more spicier. I usually can’t handle spice much but I kept on eating more and more. And to be honest I think it cleared up part of my cold I was fighting too. But over all it was great, will have to stop by again when I’m going through Baton Rouge.“

“The crawfish were huge. I got take out and found the specials on facebook (it was $8/lb and now it's around $5/lb). They were slightly overcooked and the meat stuck onto the shells a little. I got it with the garlic butter sauce on top and man was it salty. The corn was good and the potatoes were slightly softer than my liking. Everything was drenched in the sauce so it was very salty. Service took about 10 minutes and the ambiance was relaxed and looked like the inside of a shack. I would try it again but without the garlic butter on top.“

“Trying to find live crawfish Sunday morning was harder than I thought. I reached out to farmers meat market the morning of and they were more than happy to help. When I arrived I was able to get a 35lbs bag of the largest and most fresh crawfish I have ever eaten. I would highly recommend them for live crawfish.“

“I did have my food delivered so the steam did effect the freshness. The shrimp were pretty seasoned and tasty . The catfish was thin and they only gave me one packet of tartar sauce. The fries very basic no seasoning . Overall I will say a 7/10.“

“Seafood was really good. Crab legs were good size. Crawfish were tiny but still good. They also did not have any blue crabs so they substituted head on shrimp. I dinged them one star because They did not inform me they were out of blue crab at the time that I ordered nor did they ask me what I would like to substitute it with.. We noticed a few were dead and called and they let us know to wait and see if they wake up from being on ice. When we went to boil at 3 we noticed even more not moving and potentially dead. We brought them back and they kindly swapped it out for new crawfish. I appreciate them taking the time to show us a crawfish after being on ice and being kind to us and replacing them! “Food is good and hot. My only issue is the fish. The black fatty part need to be taken off. It leaves an after taste and throws the flavor off of the fish. Also that stuff keeps the skin from sticking to the fish. It flakes off and keeps the fish from being enjoyable. The shrimp is good tho. Just currently I would not recommend the fish from here.“
