“Fantastic Turnaround – Excellent Catered Dinner After an off experience on Valentine’s Day… I don’t usually write follow-up reviews, but after an off experience (missing items, quality issues, etc.) on Valentine’s Day, I wanted to share how impressed we were with the follow-up. Kerry Kelley reached out, listened to our feedback, and kindly catered our dinner last night. Everything was spot-on and absolutely delicious—the food was fresh, flavorful, and exceeded our expectations. Highlights included perfectly prepared steak and seafood dishes that reminded us why we’ve loved Mike Anderson’s for years. The portions were generous, everything arrived hot and well-packaged, and the overall experience turned our view around completely. It’s clear they take customer satisfaction seriously and go the extra mile to make things right. Thank you to both the Gonzales Prairieville teams for the great recovery—we’re excited to order again and will definitely be back for dine-in soon. The Oysters were BURNT...all small FOUR of them...so crunchy a guest said the could have broken their teeth?!? I ordered the Shrimp PoBoy and only got a HALF! They said they would refund me, well DoorDash did...not sure why they did and not Jasmines. , waiting on an answer from them BURNT FOOD IS UNACCEPTABLE...there was no way they didn't know...really!!?? Especially if it can harm someone? What else was there was good, but it was disappointing it wasn't right, again! Oh, a good thing, the Shrimp and Corn soup had shrimp in it this time, just too creamy for my taste. Not used to cream in it. “I ordered 4 dz boiled crabs and 8 lbs of boiled shrimp for out of town visiting family members. Everything was seasoned perfectly. The #2 crabs were all full the shrimp were very very large. It was so yummy. This place has greatly improved. I will definitely be back. Thanks so much!“

“Currently closed. I came during my last trip here last March and the food was amazing. I came today to find it shuttered with a metal door. I found out the owner was shot over an order dispute on the 3rd. I hope she is okay and my thoughts are with her family. Really bummed this happened, and this place isn’t currently open because of it.“

“The food was amazing. We enjoyed the Sunday brunch menu which included the French onion soup, fried oyster salad and for entrees we ate the New Orleans Crab Cake Benedict and Short Rib Benedict. The manger was so gracious as to give me a small bottle of champagne to take home since all the desserts were made with chocolate and I am allergic. We will definitely be back for the dinner menu. Fantastic table side service, beautiful ambiance and excellent master chef food.“

“I've only had a couple of different sandwiches. They are better than any other place in Baton Rouge for New Orleans style po/poor boys that I've tried. The bread is not quite right. Should be lightly toasted so that the outside is crispy and inside soft. But it's Baton Rouge.“

“This was my first trip to J. Alexander's, but it will not be my last. I ordered the red beans and rice as the soup of the day and was pleasantly surprised by the portion I received. I was expecting a small cup and received a sizable bowl. It was perfectly cooked and excellently seasoned. It had just th right amount of kick and the flavors blended perfectly. I had the Cypress Salad as my entree with grilled chicken. The salad greens were crisp. The chicken was flawless, as were the condiments. This meal paired very well with Yuzu Mule I ordered. I highly recommend that drink if you'd like a refreshing take on the traditional Moscow Mule.

The atmosphere is perfect for a date night, dinner with friends or in my case, a travel meal while on a business trip. I can't wait to try the one where I live to see if the experience and business are consistent.“

The softshell crab poboy is the true subject of this review. It was incredible. Yulanda, the restaurant manager, worked with us very closely, made suggestions and had everything ready for us on the day of our luncheon. The food was ready at the designated time and was served hot and was delicious. The servers were very pleasant and efficient We have used this venue in the past and will definitely used it again. “Being from Florida this was my first time experiencing the restaurant. It was recommended by friends and I must say it was a great experience. My family and I had a variety of dishes. I had the boudin egg roll which were delicious along with the Shrimp jambalaya.My wife had the chicken club and red beans and rice which are outstanding. My mother had the catfish and shrimp plate which is huge portions. The adult drinks are great with a huge selection. If I get the opportunity to visit I will definitely make a stop back. Love the atmosphere during football season although I’m not a Saints fan lol. But highly recommend giving this place a try.“
