“Savinos is a local gem. I've been here for celebratory dinners in the past, both pre- and during the pandemic, and everything has been delicious with great service in a classy (if a bit dated) atmosphere. Lately I've been enjoying their lunch, which is a great price (entrees around $15) for high quality meals that satisfy more than your typical sandwich of the same price in the area. I have a number of dietary restrictions (mostly gluten and dairy free), and they've been able to accommodate them while not compromising on quality. The grilled salmon is one meal I would get again and again. It comes with a refreshing salad alongside a red potato salad that's very lightly dressed with mayonnaise, just what I prefer. The steak is another good option for gluten and dairy free folks. It's easy to substitute items with more veggies. While I've enjoyed just about everything I've had there, sometimes they add a bit too much finishing oils, making some dishes too oily. My mom, who is a particular eater, loves the flatbread (toppings are a rotating special). She found the pasta bolognese to be a bit one note, though, with not much other ingredients. They don't have gf/df desserts, but I couldn't resist taking a bite of my mom's crème caramel. It is deliciously creamy! Reminds me of desserts in Paris when I could eat whatever I wanted. There's street parking and some outdoor seating for warmer months. If you do want to come for lunch, be sure to make a reservation on their website -- I think they still require them. We've also called them to get takeout, which has been super easy. Still, I prefer going in person to have a slice of elegant calm.“
“Amazing experience. The Wellington burger was the best burger I ever had with tasty french fries. It was so delicious along with the fresh brewed coffee and fresh squeezed lemonade. The service was excellent and atmosphere was very pleasant with jazz.“
“We got very fortunate and grabbed a table as soon as we came in, it was Marathon Monday. Order the mushroom pizza and the kale and nappa cabbage salad. Both came very quickly, and was delicious. Our server, Israel, was amazing. Very knowledgeable and caring. He was fantastic. A great place for food....enjoy“
“My wife and I found ourselves stuck in Cambridge as a result of certain family entanglements. We were feeling glum with no bright options for spending the evening. THEN.... we stumbled into Pammys and things went technicolor. We were seated at the southeast end of bar and were almost immediately sipping a 29 degree Martini and an Oaxaca Old Fashioned. In addition to being a really great bar full of fashionable, chatty and probably interesting local people, Pammy's also has a full menu of really great food including asparagus served with a cured egg yolk and a circle of something very tasty that resembles a large egg white cut into a slice. We also tried crispy mushrooms, some fish, pasta, bread pudding and some really delicious bread (which is offered free of charge, at least at the bar.) The staff of the restaurant, including a woman who I believe was the Eponymous Pammy of Pammys, were all very friendly and made us feel welcome being in Cambridge. We met a very nice person from Maine which was another exciting wrinkle to the experience. We will definitely go back the next time life throws us a curveball and we are stuck in the Boston metro area. A big thanks to Pammys for salvaging our night!“
“Woods Hill Pier 4 offers a dining experience like no other! Nestled by the water, the ambiance is both elegant and relaxed, creating the perfect setting for a memorable meal. The farm-to-table concept shines through in every dish, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients that burst with flavor.“
“The chef personally brought our food to the table and came over to ask how everything was after a few minutes. The crispy artichoke salad is easily one of the best salads I’ve ever had. 10/10! Great atmosphere and vibe. We will definitely be back!“
“The staff at Brassica are so knowledgeable, fun, and friendly. They bump the best playlists, joke with you, discuss taste preferences, honor allergies, and are actually excited to provide a good dining experience. It's truly a neighborhood gem that I want to gatekeep so badly but will not because everyone deserves this level of stellar dining and the team here deserves to succeed! The food is funky with a heavy focus on fermentation along with honing culinary techniques from around the world without trying to put out “Asian food” or “Latin cuisine” or “fusion”, just their own creations. They make spirits in house (turns out I can like vermouth!) and source wines from places most others restaurants don’t dare to cover. It’s where I bring all my visitors if I can snag a table!“
“What an amazing place. In these times when we are still not comfortable dining indoors this place rocks. The chef behind these dishes knows a thing or two about bringing beer garden food to a totally new level. Thank you chef and staff in front of the house.“
“This restaurant has an amazing vibe, great acoustically, great atmosphere, phenomenal staff. That being said the star is the food itself. The flavors are layered perfectly, not over seasoned and displayed artistically. Also, the prices were very reasonable for the value. Can’t wait to go back!!“
“Booked a heated yurt for my daughter's birthday. Outside cold and windy. Inside warm and toasty with blankets. Great decorations. Spacious table. Service was 5 star despite being outside and the need to zip and unzip. Food was excellent. From apps to dinner and drinks. Everyone was happy. Menu can satisfy most accommodations. Highly recommended“
“As always our meal at Dovetail was spot on. I had the snapper and my wife the scallops. Bother dishes were thoughtfully prepared, attractive and very tasty. We've been fans for years and have never been disappointed in our meals at Dovetail or their sister restaurant, Brewers Fork.“
“Great place for food and drinks in Boston. The food quality is much better than your average food court and alcohol is available. It's not as large as the one in Lisbon but there's still a decent variety of food choices. We had lunch there prior to a Red Sox game and went there for supper after the game. The place was not overly busy both times so it was easy to find seating.Overall, we prefer the Time Out Market over the High Street Place food hall downtown. At Time Out Market your food is served on real plates with proper cutlery and the beer comes in a glass. At High Street Place, your food is served in takeout containers with plastic cutlery and draft beer in a plastic cup.“
“Visiting Boston on business. My group and I went here for lunch and it was stellar. I had the Zuni Roll and I wish I could get another. The onion ring apps were very tasty. The beer selection is pretty good and the staff recommendations were spot on. Staff was great as well and attentive. Highly recommend.“
“Flawless from start to finish. I came here by myself and arrived a few minutes early- everyone was extremely welcoming and attentive from the moment I stepped in.I ate at the bar and the service was again warm and attentive. The food is phenomenal. It's not inexpensive but it is worth every cent.Seems odd to recommend the asparagus at a seafood restaurant- but have the asparagus! Perfectly cooked and flavorful. The crab cake was excellent and the buttermilk biscuit is reason enough to travel to Boston. This is my second visit and it has been fantastic each time.“
“While enjoyable, I came in with higher expectations. I knew going in that the menu was "weird" (maybe unusual is more appropriate?), and after the meal, I pretty much felt the same. I don't feel like the ingredient or cooking choices really came together, and I don't know if it's because farm to table in New England at the start of spring is just unfair, or if this just comes down to the chef's choices. My partner and I shared 4 dishes, and we each got our own dessert. I loved my dessert, but the other one was unbalanced, with too much bitter marmalade. The savory dishes were all fine - but we wondered if the scallops could have been better with a different protein, if the celery root would have been better as a veloute, and if the sauce for the lamb were not so sweet.Still, I think I'd like to come back when the farms in New England have better produce and try again.Kid-friendliness: Not really - this is a place for very adventurous adults“
“Delicious and safe dining experience- the food was unbelievably fresh and creative. All servers went out of their way to be attentive and friendly- the mulled wine was the perfect beverage on this chilly afternoon! We brought blankets- and used them!“
“Grace is honestly a fantastic bartender, with the people skills of a trained pro. I’ve watched her navigate the busiest bar and full floor like it was nothing, keeping the crowd happy. Mike’s commanding presence is not only because he’s tall, but he’s knowledgeable and friendly which you’d be able to tell immediately. His expertise in the hobbies we share made me feel welcome and at ease. Amilcar is skilled equally at making good drinks and making good conversation, what a guy! Dylan is personable and funny, putting guests at ease, easily. Great team, great atmosphere, great food and great drinks.“
“It's a treat to have tea here. The space is lovely and the service was exemplary! The food was delicious, very fresh and tasty combinations. We were served salmon mousse and lobster salad small sandwiches that would have been superb had they been on a lighter bread. All the other tea sandwiches were fabulous (egg salad, cucumber, and a mini roast beef in Yorkshire pudding) Scone with Devonshire cream and lemon curd was great and desserts were scrumptious. Individual pots of tea from a varied selection of teas rounded out our meal. I particularly appreciated the tea service - generous, hot, warmed milk if you take milk, "one lump or two" ?. Altogether a very nice time. A tad pricy compared to many but well worth it for a special time.“
“I’ve been to so many breakfast places in Boston, and this is by far the best I’ve been to. I wouldn’t recommend any place else. The food was cooked excellently, yet fast, the service was great, and even though the restaurant itself is a bit snug, it makes it perfect for a cozy and homey feel. Love love love!“
“Love this place. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great drinks. My gf and I tend to always get the same thing-Pan roasted chicken, and the jambalaya. Been favorites for years. Large selection of beers and cocktails. Highly recommend for anyone new to the area. It has a great "Somerville" vibe.“
“The oysters are amazing!! Came in with my dad, and had one of the best meals ever! We ordered A Tale of Two Oysters, and is the way to go. This way we both could try all 8 of the day’s oysters. Hailey was our server, and was absolutely amazing. She brought over paper menus to make it easier, as my father didn’t have his phone with him. She was attentive, engaging, and just a joy to be around. She treated each able as if they were her only table, and was great at explaining and offering suggestions. We will definitely be back!!“
“This is a horrible place to catch up with out of town friends...Because every amazing bite of the food forces you to silence, to savoring each flavor and spice. You can't think of anything else apart from the taste. Even the crumbs left on the table that I of course didn't stick in my mouth...The care and excitement for the food is admirable, you can tell everything is handmade and thoughtful. I was very lucky to be a guinea pig for one of their menu experiements; maybe it will be called "Toasted Apples Delight" and maybe one day you'll be able to try it too one day. ;)“
“Nice gastro pub in South Boston. It's better than nearby Tavern. Great buffalo wings and an interesting spin on Thai chilli wings with good heat. Raw beef tartare with delicious with quail egg cracked on top. Crudo was decent but I wouldn't get it again. My brother in law is a pizza aficionado, and he said this pizza was amazing. Cold beer also!“
“We enjoyed a beautiful night out in Boston and ended up eating at Vee Vee (luckily) as walk-ins. They gave us a seat by the door, which was appreciated and the service to the food was hitting on all marks. The one thing I hold back from giving a 5 star review on is that we were dying of heat -- it felt like we were eating in a sauna. I'm not sure if it was because they didn't turn on the AC or if we just had an unfortunate seat that wasn't receiving any of that cool air. Either way, I was sweating throughout the entire dinner service and so was my fiancée.“
“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Monument in Charlestown with a large party, and I can't praise them enough for their incredible hospitality and outstanding food. Right from the start, they made us feel welcomed and accommodated us with ease, despite the size of our group. They had a great little back corner of the bar set aside for us, we were treated to chips, salsa, and guacamole, which set the tone for the amazing meal to come. The cucumber salsa was a standout, offering a refreshing and unique twist that had everyone at the table raving. It's not something you find just anywhere, and it's a must-try for anyone visiting Monument. And let's talk about the chicken sliders – they were absolutely delicious! Perfectly cooked and flavored to perfection, these sliders were a hit among our group, capturing the essence of what makes Monument's menu so special.Overall, the combination of friendly staff, a welcoming atmosphere, and delectable dishes makes Monument a top-notch dining destination in Charlestown. Whether you're planning a gathering for a large group or looking for a spot to enjoy a fantastic meal, Monument has you covered. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to enjoy more of their culinary creations!“
“Ordered the Irish curry and the Sam Adams Cold Snap, both were great! I came alone and sat at a booth. It wasn't too busy, but wasn't empty either. It was a quiet and chill pub, with good music playing in the background. Would recommend dining here if you wanted something quiet.“
“Enjoyed being with my sister for lunch but wasn't too impressed with this place. A meatless taco salad. Also the server seemed annoyed when we asked for something. Food was mediocre at best. My first restaurant experience in Boston was disappointing.“
“We had a delightful dinner at the Burlington, MA Restaurant this past week. Seasons 52 NEVER disappoints!!! Our meals were delicious... wonderful pork chop on a bed of red cabbage and golden raisins, served with a side of mashed sweet potato with pecans and brown sugar. My partner had a delicious piece of chilean sea bass on a bed of wild rice with mushrooms. For dessert... we could not help ourselves and ordered two of their mini-indulgences of layered pecan pie and the other was of oreo cookie and vanilla. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is beautiful with nice lighting. But the best of all was our server, Susan. She was so friendly and helpful with our choices of wine, food and desserts. One of the most pleasant dining experiences we have had in awhile. We were there to celebrate our 38 Year Anniversary and loved every minute.“
“Absolutely excellent meal with an excellent team. Starting with the amazing bread and butter and a ln orange creamsicle (adult version of a childhood favorite). Then the broccoli salad with poached egg (poached expertly creating a creamy sauce). I had the fusilli broccoli- home made pasta dressed beautifully. My husband had the chick pea stew - whole chick peas made this his favorite. Finished with delicious double chocolate chip cookies. Can’t wait to go back!“
“The best shepherd's pie my husband and I ever had !! We had great time eating here ,our waiter Erica is the best, she is very friendly and fast .We arrive 5:45pm and still got chance to have their $1 oyster, yumm!!!we were amazed they gave a very large amount for Kid's meals for $7 each meal plus drink for kids..Overall this place is a must visit..definitely going back here if coming back to Charlestown again .“
“The desert, campfire brownies, was merely good. That was the ONLY quibble of the evening. Ambiance? Impeccably glamorous, down to the textured walls, but still a bit cheeky and fun due to the speakeasy style entrance. Cocktails? Complex, interesting, and strong - Bijou, SVD, Espresso Martini, and Irish Coffee were all on point. Service? Attentive without being overbearing, team service at it's best. Steaks? Both the Ribeye and NY strip were perfectly cooked and meltingly delicious, enhanced by the herbed butter served on top and the house demiglace. Bone marrow? Just perfect, the onion jam is the right counterpoint to its richness. Mac and Cheese? On point. Bread and butter? The butter... how do they make something as simple as seasoned whipped butter this magical... who cares, they just do, just eat it. It's not a cheap dinner but isn't at all overpriced for what it is. This place is a gem, you should make a reservation today.“
“I never go out to get an American dinner, but this place exceeded my expectations! We got the mushroom pizza (spectacular, good amount of sauce and toppings), the burrata pizza (good when it's hot and immediately after it is delivered to table, the apple salad (phenomenal, good about of sauce and excellent assortment of toppings), and the Caesar (classic Caesar nothing too special). But the item that stood out the most was the TRUFFLE FRIES. Best truffle fries Ive had in a very long time. Great fries and the seasoning was above and beyond. didn't come with an aoili dipping sauce oddly, but i was super content with the fries alone. super flavorful and had the right about of everything on it.“
“Dinner and drinks with a friend, great service and food. We had a fish sandwich that was plentiful and delicious and the Parmesan fries were outstanding. My friend had the “plain Jane” pizza which was great too! Definitely a “go to” in the neighborhood. Drinks were excellent, a white sangria and a razz lemonade!“
“The lamb burger was excellent. Went in for a quick bite and our waiter was kind enough to split our shared meal - the lamb burger and fries with truffle - on two plates and maintained the presentation and quality of the food. But the real winner of the night were the two homemade cookies we took home. My only complaint of the evening was the back corner of the restaurant we were seated in was a little too dark for my liking. Overall though, a solid place for dinner.“
“Atmosphere was nice. Live music nice. Lunch fish and chips is one fish. I think at dinner they give you two fish but the price is more. $13 at lunch and $19 for dinner. Would have been nice to specify as I would have ordered the dinner portion for lunch. Salad was good.“
“This is one of our favorite restaurants! The food and service are fantastic. Dan, John & Tony bring it every time - they are the A-Team! Last night we tried the “Meaty” Mushrooms and it was excellent! Mixed Fat Moon mushrooms, miso-roasted gilfeather turnips, herb-butter pan sauce, parsnip puree, crispy onion. I am a lover of wild mushrooms, and this dish is one of the best I’ve had. I love how they use farm fresh foods and change up their menu accordingly.“
“Super friendly service, inviting atmosphere, and amazing food! The taro latte was a warm, sweet (but not too sweet!) hug in a mug. The pancakes were so fluffy and soft! The towoomba panini, however, was the star of the show! It was so fresh, unusual, and absolutely delicious! All in all, I can't recommend Cafe Weekend highly enough!“
“I have tried their fried chicken side order, fried chicken sandwich, Korean fried chicken sandwich, and mac and cheese. All were delicious. Also recently had the chicken salad sandwich. Overall it was good, but the Dijon mustard flavor was too strong. My parents took a few bites and weren't able to finish it.Eitherway, looking forward to try some of their other dishes.“
“What an incredible experience as my wife and celebrated our anniversary. We were made to feel special from the very first moment we arrived through dinner and coffee/dessert. If you have a special occasion coming out, this is the place to come.“
“The food was delicious, The service was wonderful, very nice and friendly people. Although I didn't see it on the menu, I asked the bartender about the French 75, which is my favorite drink, and I'm quite picky about it. THEY MADE THE BEST FRECH 75 that I had in Boston. Highly recommended!“
“This review is for the Brookline location of The Abbey. The Abbey doesn't do reservations or call ahead. We showed up around 6:00ish on a Saturday night and were told there was a 20 - 30 minute wait. We were welcome to sit at the bar, but there was no place for four people to sit together, so we lurked near the door and chatted, ducked customers walking in and out and staff taking orders, running food and clearing plates. It's a small space when all the tables are full and people are a few deep at the bar, but that just added to the ambiance. I was seated facing the wall so I didn't see quite how busy it got, but the noise was at "lively" level. We could still have a conversation but needed to speak up to be heard across the table. We were able to snag a table after about 30 minutes. The basics first: The drinks, food and service were fantastic! This is our second time here, the first being ages ago when they had the covered tables outside early in the pandemic. I've been wanting to come back forever, but don't usually get to this part of Brookline. I need to change that or head to Cambridge too! I started with a winter sangria (red wine, brandy, spiced rum, apricot and allspice) that was delicious. They have a pretty extensive gluten free menu, which is nice. My friend wanted the GF pasta Bolognese, but she is dairy free to so that was not an option. We ordered two of the slow-braised short rib "French dip" egg rolls with gruyere, horseradish aioli, and red wine demi for the table. Loved this! I never finish apps and I inhaled this. I was fine with that, I could just put my main in a take home container. We also got the black kale & Brussels sprouts salad, avocado, pepitas, Crispy bacon, and a fried duck egg. Even if you think you don't like kale and or Brussels sprouts, get this dish! I got the "Thanksgiving" panini (house roasted turkey, cornbread stuffing, cheddar, arugula, cranberry aioli, hand-cut fries). It was delicious and can't wait for the leftovers. The hanger steak frites came topped with watercress and a madeira sauce. It was the most tender steak that I've ever had. For sides my friends also ordered shredded Brussels sprouts and pan roasted cauliflower with capers and pecorino as sides. Not to be missed are the hand cut fries that are the embodiment of French fries perfection. They are a must order, either plain or with truffles and cheese. Fried potato nirvana! As I said, the place was packed, but service was attentive and Ty (sp?), our server made sure allergy info was provided to the kitchen. He made great suggestions for items to try. The Brookline location does not serve dessert (sad panda) but the Cambridge location does. Good to note for next time! Did I mention that the kitchen is open until 1:30 AM every night? Perfect for late night bites.“
“this place is so wonderful, a cozy interior that you can meet the owner, Peter. he is so knowledgeable and kind, their coffee is outstanding and delicious. for food their tuna wrap is my go-to but i am going to have to try all their snacks!“
“Our server Jack was just wonderful. The owner also came over and helped us pick out wine and really nice. We felt very well taken care of and the atmosphere was lovely. The food was delicious, but quite pricey so I would save this for a special occasion. But it's a must!!“
“Energetic atmosphere with a creative cocktail menu and a variety of food options.Vegetarian options: They have many vegetarian apps, guacamole, pizza bites, brussel sprouts, lettuce wraps, etc. Also, some creative salad options. My favorite is the Harvest bowl (quinoa, farro, baby kale, roasted brussels sprouts, pomegranate seeds and roasted butternut squash).Parking: Large parking lot but it does get busy/ full.Kid-friendliness: Energetic atmosphere with all ages welcome.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramps to entrance, all one level but it does get crowded.“
“Solid fish and beet salad dinner. Really appreciate their proper style of fish batter - light and crisp. Popped in for an early Saturday night dinner, and I'm glad we got there early as it filled up fast. Strong drinks, great pub food options, and a bustling atmosphere.“
“SHIRLEY has been a bright light in my life since it opened a few doors down from me. Kat is a one woman show and cares deeply about where food comes from & her customers!! Her menu is based on fruits and veg that are in season, and rotates frequently. Whenever I come in to pick up an order, she always takes the time to point out new vegan items on the menu, tell me about her plans, and even chat for a few minutes, all while she's prepping orders. The bread is famous for a reason. It's versatile and so comforting! SHIRLEY is adventurous and delicious and is a great place to go for veg folks bringing along non - veg friends. happycow only allows 5 stars for full vegan/veg restaurants, so don't let the 4 stars fool you. And don't forget the pickles and your fun drink! Vegan Faves: - Tofu Banh Mi (my favorite sandwich) - Sweet potato black bean torta - Eggplant sesame sandwich - PICKLES!!! my fave pickles - in the spring there was this asparagus sandwich… yum - Chocolate chip cookies!!! - Tomato soup - Almost all (if not all) drinks are made w oat milk - Chocolate hazelnut spread Updated from previous review on 2024-02-15“
“This is a great place. The bar service is a bit slow but the waiting staff is fantastic. I love the place. Wish it was a bit warmer in winter as no matter where you seat there is always a cold air flow hitting you from somewhere but that's minor anyway.Had food once from the late menu and it was very good. Drinks are good. What i like the most is the atmosphere. Friendly and casual but classy.“
“Ocean Prime came highly recommended to me by a number of people when I was planning my husbands’s surprise 40th dinner party. I had never been there before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I went in knowing it was pricey and upscale which was fitting for the special occasion. Let me just say we had an absolutely incredible night. We had a larger party and Yasmin helped me plan the event and accommodated all of us. The hostess was even in on the surprise as she pretended to seat us for 2 when we arrived. Anthony was our server and he was so incredibly patient and fun and very very efficient. He and Yasmin made this a night to remember and I was able to relax knowing that everything was being taken care of behind the scenes. We were even given a private room which we did not expect at all and that made our experience that much better. The food and atmosphere were just so great and so special. We will be coming back for sure and recommend Ocean Prime to anyone who is looking to have more of fancy/upscale experience in the Seaport. It was perfection!“
“We had an amazing meal in this cosy, warm and welcoming joint right in the middle of Newton centre. We went without a reservation and sat at the bar. The food was perfect in every way which does not happen frequently and when it does – it is a great experience. The cavatelli was outstanding. Same with the porkchops. The deserts were great too. The staff were attentive , and at the same time knowledgeable about what was on offer. The manager too was extremely nice and offered us some very helpful advice on the venue itself. All said, this is a place that one can keep going back to.Parking: Generally enough spots except during weekends“
“Superiorly delicious, healthy, and reasonably priced is how I would describe the food at My Other Kitchen most concisely. Their Greek salad with chicken souvlaki is addictively good - it goes great with George's pita bread. Their hamburger tastes better than any burger I have had elsewhere, even at much higher prices! I highly recommend this place for takeout, but they also have limited seating inside and bigger tables outside in the warmer months.“
