“Love this place. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great drinks. My gf and I tend to always get the same thing-Pan roasted chicken, and the jambalaya. Been favorites for years. Large selection of beers and cocktails. Highly recommend for anyone new to the area. It has a great "Somerville" vibe.“
“SHIRLEY has been a bright light in my life since it opened a few doors down from me. Kat is a one woman show and cares deeply about where food comes from & her customers!! Her menu is based on fruits and veg that are in season, and rotates frequently. Whenever I come in to pick up an order, she always takes the time to point out new vegan items on the menu, tell me about her plans, and even chat for a few minutes, all while she's prepping orders. The bread is famous for a reason. It's versatile and so comforting! SHIRLEY is adventurous and delicious and is a great place to go for veg folks bringing along non - veg friends. happycow only allows 5 stars for full vegan/veg restaurants, so don't let the 4 stars fool you. And don't forget the pickles and your fun drink! Vegan Faves: - Tofu Banh Mi (my favorite sandwich) - Sweet potato black bean torta - Eggplant sesame sandwich - PICKLES!!! my fave pickles - in the spring there was this asparagus sandwich… yum - Chocolate chip cookies!!! - Tomato soup - Almost all (if not all) drinks are made w oat milk - Chocolate hazelnut spread Updated from previous review on 2024-02-15“
“what a special place. the service from start to finish was attentive, warm, and knowledgeable. Cloe was wonderful. the food was pretty close to perfect. the burrata with giardiniaria was insane. the chocolate strawberry dessert was divine. the mocktails were inspired. I wanted to ear the exacts same meal right after I finished. thanks so much. can't wait to come back!“
“The food is great, but what really impresses is the service. Our door dash order was missing a dish and when I called to let them know, the apologized and immediately sent a replacement via Uber eats, no questions asked. Now THAT'S how you build a stellar reputation with the community! They were always a fave, but now they're our go-to for Greek food going forward.Vegetarian options: Falafel and salad options, also spanokopita.“
“Rewriting my review because the place has changed hands and changed menus. Pleasantly surprised to see that brunch was still on the menu, and even more pleasantly surprised to see these awesome Indian brunch fusion dishes. We got the butter chicken eggs Benedict and the masala chai French toast. It was super fun and delicious, definitely considering becoming a regular. My only regret is that the portions have shrunk somewhat since the previous owners.“
“Perfect. This is a fun place to spend an evening, my favorite bar/restaurant in the Davis square area. Good selection of beer (love the cask beer), delicious meals (I've tried the sausage in a pretzel bun and the schnitzel), good service, and a cosy atmosphere.“
“Cocktail at the bar was good, Field Day was good drink. Good atmosphere, nice decor, friendly staff. The food looked delicious. Will try it sometime.Pro tip. March madness was on at the bar if you prefer watch sports. The tables are more spreading out for more privacy.“
“Kid-friendliness: We’ve come here a lot with our two young kids and the servers and wait staff are so friendly and understanding. They even have cups of cartoon characters for the kids, which is always a hit. My kids love the hot dogs and we love everything else on the menu!“
“Last Friday was my first time at saloon and I am already planning to come back. I was in awe of the busy atmosphere, the music was good, the drinks were good and the Caviar French onion dip was delish! Our server was great, I forget their name but they gave wonderful recommendations and were very kind!“
“Great place to hang out with friends, absolutely not for a romantic date, company gathering, or families with young children. They have live music, and the night we were there, they had open mic comedy night in the back room. I would check their website for the event calendar. There is no need for a reservation. Street parking is available, but finding a spot may be challenging.Vegetarian options: Mediterranean platter“
“Great food and reasonably priced, especially for the area. Lots of options, including breakfast all day, sandwiches, tacos, smoothies, coffee, and Brazilian plates of food. Everything looked delicious and service was super fast and friendly. I'll be back when I have errands to run at Assembly!Parking: Assembly garage or lots are nearby, but can get busy.“
“The main course was okay (my butternut squash ravioli were enjoyable, but my partners pasta on his chicken and pasta dish was bland) The oysters and drinks were the real star of the show. Definitely recommend for the ambience and cocktails.“
“This local place has delicious food, and has been serving it up for years. it's my go-to for their barbecue chicken (char grilled with a delicious garlicy sauce - not your usual American style barbeque!), and their beans are excellent.“
“It was my first time there but I can tell you not my last !! It is now my favorite breakfast place .. ( can’t wait to try them for lunch ) They girl that waited on us was very friendly and you could just tell the day after Christmas that she loved her job The place was very clean , and didn’t smell like old steal oil .. And the foot well that’s another story and why I will be back !! It was fresh , I mean FRESH !! Like everything was picked from a garden out back to make my omelette.. And the home fries amazing !! Try it you’ll love ❤️ it , just like me !!“
“We discovered Mount Vernon a few years ago, and have been back many many times. We love the atmosphere, the food, and Elaine behind the bar is just awesome. Every time we go, it's like coming home.Parking: There's a small lot behind the building dedicated to Mount Vernon Customers, and a small paid lot across the street. Otherwise, you can usually find a spot along Broadway.“
“Great dependable neighborhood spot for dinner and weekend brunch. They have also been great to work with for special events. I am so glad they have been in Union Square for as long as they have and I sincerely hope they continue for years to come.“
“I was a little apprehensive about booking this hotel as it is not in the centre of Boston, but I needn’t have been. The hotel is modern and clean. The staff could not do enough to satisfy our requests. The area around the hotel is modern and has a lovely lively feel. We never felt unsafe, even in the evenings. There are numerous restaurants/cafes and outlet shops. The distance from downtown Boston was not an issue as there is a direct T link to several city locations. All in all we had a fantastic stay and would definitely use this hotel again.“
“Sound Bites is the kinda place I want to become a regular at. It's homey, I love the self-service drinks with all the color mugs to choose from, I love the "home fries" mashed potato things. The food is great, the service is great.“
“Joined a couple of vegans for breakfast. I usually struggle to find something tasty and satisfying. This place was very helpful in making suggestions and asking me questions about what i liked typically then they made suggestions based on what i had described. In the end i loved an item which was similar to eggs with chorizo and I’ll be darned if it tasted just as authentic s the real dish. I had a couple of their pastry items and they could have been just as authentic. I regret that i didn’t write this sooner but this visit was in late February of ‘23 and i just found this website because another son of mine asked me for suggestions and i found NU Kitchen again which he was grateful for.“
“Small place with great eats! My family and I loved everything we had. The burgers were good, a bit messy but still really tasty. I wish they had different veggie burger options. The patty was just okay but it was nice that you could put it on any burger you wanted. Our waiter was extremely attentive and knew what we needed before we could ask! We were seated quickly too which was a big plus!“
“Alright, strap in. This food is a mouth orgasm. Birra tacos and the house steak tips. T was our server and he was great too, super friendly. But back to the food- the tacos were so flavorful and crispy without being spicy(and I'm sensitive to spice). The steak tips were so tender it was like the cow got a massage every day before being put on my plate. The sauce was similar to a pot roast sauce. The potatoes? UGH YES-home made mashed! Fresh! They were a little dry but the sauce just made them perfect. They had home alone up on the TVs so it was great atmosphere.I do want to add the hostess was borderline unfriendly. She didn't greet us and was on her phone the whole time.“
“Had an great time at The Pub in Somerville! The bartenders were truly awesome, providing top-notch service and making the overall bar experience fantastic. The atmosphere was inviting, and the staff's friendly demeanor added to the enjoyment. If you're looking for a great time with excellent service, The Pub is a definite go-to spot for a classic pub experience!“
“I was intrigued and wanted to try the pizza here because from the looks of the photos, it was similar to a south shore bar style pizza. This is hard to find north of the city and I was hoping for the best! I ordered a Hawaiian pizza to go. When I got home and opened the box, I was happy to see that it indeed looked like a South Shore pie! Crispy edges where you would typically see crust, and there was a considerable number of toppings on it. The flavor was there, and it fulfilled my pizza craving! I recommend giving this place a shot if you are in the area!“
“Came here for brunch on Easter Sunday - luckily we'd made a reservation that morning, because it was pretty packed. Clearly, everybody loves tater tots, but here's a question: What's better than tots? Answer: Brunchy tots! Ok, great, but what's better than Brunchy Tots, you ask? Final Answer: Brunchy Tots covered with bacon and eggs! Jeezalu, Marie, I need to loosen my belt a notch or two!“
“Went on a quiet Sunday evening and was impressed by the taste and quality of the food. Impressive wine list featuring Mexican wine and fabulous cocktails. The guacamole is my absolute favorite but the esquites corn is not to be missed! Also loved the steak, grilled scallions, and potatoes! Shout out to the friendly and attentive staff!“
“Such a nice and cozy bar! Great warm lighting, good drinks on tap and solid prices. I've come here for bar trivia on Tuesdays a couple of times and always have a blast! This bar makes me feel like I'm in the intro for How I Met Your Mother and that's everything to me.“
“Great little breakfast diner that is family owned and has delicious home cooked food with friendly service. There is bottomless coffee and very generous portion sizes. It is a little gem in Somerville that has regulars and a friendly atmosphere. This place is cash only and there is an ATM inside if you need some money. This place is worth a visit!“
“Now Market is adorable and my friend who is local recommended we stop at Saus. Primarily vegan friendly offerings. So, the chicken sandwich is definitely tasty, the fries are just right, but the star of our visit there was the French dip, which was bursting with flavor. It was so good, we ordered a second one. My husband, who eats an omnivorous diet said it was better than any meat French dip he’s had. It’s on a crisped roll and the tender veggie meat is slightly charred, adding to the texture, flavor and bite.“
“Stopped in with my wife and son for a quick bite. I'd heard about this place, but had never been there and wasn't sure what to expect. What we found was a cozy, neighborhood pub with solid food, an extensive beer selection, and very friendly service. For those of you who may remember 33 Dunster Street, the longtime restaurant icon in Harvard Square, this place has that vibe -- an inviting cozy environment with dark woods; a comfortable neighborhood joint. We visited on a Sunday night and it was pretty empty, so we paused wondering why, but we sat for dinner. We ordered a burger, veggie burger, and a Scholar Bowl. All were very tasty. Our server was the bartender and we anticipated a certain level (i.e. lack of) of service. What we received could not have been further from our expectations. (Will add name) was fantastic -- very knowledgeable in answering our questions regarding the menu and extremely knowledgeable about their beer selection (allowing for several samples to find the right brew.) He could not have been friendlier. If we lived closer, we'd make this one of our frequent haunts. We will definitely be back for the food and beer selection and, perhaps, for their Monday night Comedy Night. Be smart...hit the Scholar!“
“I recently tried Salt + Stone & had the best experience there. A post from the restaurant's Instagram showed up on my for you page & just had to try it out after seeing all of the pictures on the@saltandstoneboston profile. Lauren the manager was so personable & welcoming and she gave such great recommendations. I ordered the cherry blossom for a cocktail & the southwest chopped chicken salad for my meal - both were delicious! The drink was refreshing & sweet & the salad was savory & so fresh. Also, the portion sizes are huge! I will definitely be going back soon.“
“Caroline, our waitress, was an absolute delight throughout our dining experience. Her warm and welcoming demeanor immediately made us feel at home. She expertly guided us through the menu, offering insightful recommendations tailored to our tastes. Caroline was incredibly attentive, ensuring our glasses were never empty and promptly addressing any requests we had. Her genuine smile and positive energy truly enhanced our dining experience. It's evident that Caroline takes pride in her work, going above and beyond to ensure every guest feels valued and well-cared for. We'll certainly be returning to this restaurant, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by Caroline.“
“First time at Tony C's and I'm very impressed. We sat at the bar and were treated to the hundreds of TV screens. The Nachos were amazing but the 25 Burger stole the show - the patty, egg and sauce - all amazing. Bun was a little crumbly but forgivable. The bartender could be a little more attentive and asked if I wanted another beer.“
“First time to Shake Shack and I have to say I am impressed! The cheeseburgers & ice cream are sooooooo good! The staff and service is on point! Ema was on top of his game and really made our first time a great experience. We can’t wait to come back.“
“Delicious and safe dining experience- the food was unbelievably fresh and creative. All servers went out of their way to be attentive and friendly- the mulled wine was the perfect beverage on this chilly afternoon! We brought blankets- and used them!“
