“I can honestly say and recommend Suburban for their tasteful turkey wings. I kid you not. I will literally travel just to place an order.!!! I called the other day and the turkey wings were sold out but because I anticipated , I was advised to call back in an hour. It was worth it. In my opinion it supersedes Carolina Kitchen. Their sides are seasoned to perfection (reason being ?) as a place in the food industry ( it is necessary to factor allergies , food restrictions,, vegan options and protein preference ). This location is definitely one of my top choices for soul food when you have an urge for southern hospitality. I hope anyone who orders has a good experience & if not let’s be mindful no one is perfect. Just input your suggestions if things do not meet your standards. Yes we can provide an opinion but let’s do it accordingly where it serves a positive impact & not a tear down. There is plenty of room to improve & elevate on a daily basis. If the quality doesn’t meet your expectations , then my only suggestion would be to cook your own meal from scratch but I highly recommend this restaurant . Keith Lee should have definitely stopped in town ( don’t know him ? ) he is a food enthusiasts who travels and reviewer who gives honest opinions on restaurants.“

“Ordered through DoorDash and overall had a great experience. The chicken wings were seasoned very well—crispy on the outside and flavorful all the way through. The shrimp egg foo young had plenty of flavor and a rich, savory gravy. The tofu and mixed vegetables were fresh and cooked just right, and the fried rice tied everything together nicely.

My only real disappointment was the french fries—they arrived cold and stale, which stood out since everything else was hot and fresh. Still, the food quality was solid and I’d definitely order again.“

“Me and the wife went here while on holiday in DC. We got the oysters Rockefeller, the only pasta they had, the seafood platter, and the jumbo fried asparagus. Sadly, the oysters tasted bad and cheese tasted sour. The pasta was bland kinda like chef boy-r-de. The seafood platter was also bland and overcooked, rubbery. Asparagus was good. With all this said I recommend it because maybe the food just wasn’t for us. It might fit your taste buds just not ours! We explain all this to management and they were very kind and accommodating about the situation. Service was also fantastic in all ways.“

“My daughter and son-in-law treated me for my birthday and what a treat it was! From the birthday champagne treat to the special popcorn to the dessert and all meals in between—nothing disappointed. The food was delicious. Filet mignon prepared to perfection. Lamb chops, braised beef, shrimp—all delicious. The sides; I could go on. My husband also enjoyed his meal. Our particular teenaged granddaughter loved her chicken tenders. Even our 2 year old granddaughter enjoyed her kids meal. Definitely will return. This was our first time but it won’t be our last. “keep in mind that the lobster roll is a warm butter, connecticut style roll which was SUPER disappointing when I had the expectations set that it would be a nice cold roll with some warm butter drizzled or added to the side.

oysters were delicious and flavorful, but pretty small in size. menu was pretty pricy for the amount of food given. I will say, although I was disappointed in the lobster roll, the amount of lobster that they give was very satisfying- they pack the roll with a ton of meat.

“The Sea Bass was a total suprise. More often than not I am dissapointed when I order fish. Not the case here. The presentation was superb. The blend of flavors, textures and colors was an epicurean delight. Our waiter/bartender Damany was thoughtful, always on point without being intrusive. “My friends and I went to Motorkat today after attending a play in Olney. Mikey was our server and was a stellar server. He was friendly yet professional. We came in with an appetite. We started with the smoked salmon and artichoke dip. The portion size was nice, and the chunky texture and flavor fit well with the Saltines. Next was the pistou salad, roasted sunchokes and the pork belly with creamy grits. The pistou salad was artfully plated and was soo good. The roasted sunchokes came with a miso ranch dressing and sesame seeds. It was so good and the mixed textures worked well. The pork belly sat on a bed of the creamiest grits I've ever had. The pork belly was tender, and the smoky tomatoes were a great paring and provided just enough acidity to cut through the richness of the dish. Still hungry, we ordered the flank cut short ribs and broccolini. The grilled broccoli were lighly tossed with chili garlic sauce, peanuts and basil. Divine. The flank cut ribs were Cumin scented and accented with a tart cucumber salad. They were fork tender and very flavorful. Our only disappointment was the scallion Pancake with pickled vegetables. We felt that overall then presentation was nice, but the Pancake was a bit thick and was a bit charred on the bottom. The pickled vegetables overpowered the pancake.. Out meal ended with mango sorbet. Overall, we loved the service Mikey provided, and all the staff was gracious. I highly recommend this spot for dinner. Thank you!“

“I could not believe how good the food was. When everything came out I was legitimately giddy with excitement. I came here with my spouse and our three kids after hitting up a local event - so we were all hungry and a bit tired. The drinks came out quickly, and our appetizer came out shortly thereafter. And OMG the cornbread. I grew up in the south and cornbread was just so-so for me but this was hands down the best I’ve had in my 37 years. The food came out and the portions were absolutely enormous. My spouse and I shared a full rack of ribs (which were huge and meaty and so well seasoned) with a near bucket sized amount of fresh fries and a cast iron pan of Mac n cheese. My kids had tenders and fries and honestly there was so much I could’ve split one plate between the three of them. The price was super reasonable, even before I knew the portion sizes lol. I would absolutely come back and recommend it to everyone I know.“

After all these years, popped in on a Saturday midafternoon for a much needed martini and ordered the griddled crab cakes. And it was BETTER than ever! Seriously, I have a very specific way that I like my martini, Hector nailed it (thank you!), and the crab cakes were crisped on the outside, meaty (as in not cheating you with starch fillers) and so juicy on the inside, and the coleslaw side (vinegar based) was on point too. Love Hanks now more than ever.“

Parking: It was crowded and parking was slim I found a parking space right in front but people were pulling up in the street and parking next to parked cars and picking up their food. It could cause a problem especially doing rush hour.“

“I reluctantly placed an order via Door Dash with Smoothies by Mid Atlantic. My past experiences have been disappointing, however, when the food and smoothies arrived I was pleasantly pleased.
The smoothies were crisp and delicious. I was not sure if the Watermelon Strawberry Smoothie (extra strawberry) was going to taste like the rind, so I added extra strawberries. It turned out to be a wonderful taste. My first orders was for 2 jumbos, which was more than filling. (I'd guess ~32oz.) The 2nd was put in the refrigerator for the next day and held together well. My second was Extra Jumbo. (~40+ oz). One was enough for me for 2 days! It also held together well in the refrigerator. Still delicious.
The New England Clam Chowder was well made with a lot of clams. The clams were clean and meaty. I am from New England and this is very close to true New England Clam Chowder. Fish Fillet (Whiting) Sub was bigger than I thought and stuffed with ingredients and the Chicken Quesadilla satisfied my craving. I was very pleased with my order. So much so I reordered three days later. The smoothies and the food remained consistent.
I thought the cost for my order was too high, however, upon receiving the orders, the portions and the quality were well worth the price.
I highly recommend Smoothies by Mid Atlantic. I look forward to visiting the Takoma restaurant soon.“
