I’m not sure if there was a problem with the freezer but that was a little disappointing. I will be back to try other flavors.“

“They have pretty good selection of gelato hair. The pistachio gelato is pretty good and a dark chocolate vegan option is great for those who are dairy free. There's quite a large selection of chocolates here and some are plant-based as well. The chocolate is pretty good from Venchi. You can order a lot more online as well. Very busy place expect a long wait for your gelato. It gets pretty busy and chaotic in this small store“

“Vanilla Bean Latte (hot) is amazing. I loved it so much I visited another Dolcezza the next day to have a large cup of it. The interior of this particular location is beautiful. Location is good too you can just sit next to the window and watch outside. Right by the ChinaTown gate. There’s charger ports and the washroom is so beautiful (had overhead speakers playing lovely music). This spot is great all around I recommend it!!! It’s got a buzz to it I spent about two hours just seated in this cafe I was alone and just had a pleasant time“

“MDI has the most delicious ice cream and you can really taste the care and quality ingredients that go into the product. Interesting array of flavors, amazing texture and mouthfeel, and I love that this place is not afraid to get adventurous with flavors. Black Sesame--yum! At the same time, their most simple, traditional flavors are among my favorites--Strawberry and Cookies and Cream are absolutely delightful. I appreciate that this place continues to keep their prices very reasonable, especially given how crazy expensive food has gotten in 2024. The staff is helpful and kind and I love supporting this anchoring neighborhood spot! A favorite weekly tradition!“

“I love the hot cocoa from Dolci Gelati at the National Zoo for Zoo Lights. I bought 1 for me and 1 for a friend & went back again for a second night for more on the last night of Zoo Lights. Whipped cream, chocolate & caramel syrup is added to the top. It’s the best treat on a cold winter night or day at the zoo. Thank you!! I’ll keep coming back & bring friends.“

“The Dairy Godmother is an Alexandria staple. Our family has been going here for years. The custard shop has a variety of sorbets, three different custard a day, bakery items, and a fabulous sparkly wand for the dairy godmother in all of us. Another great thing about the Dairy Godmother is you run into many other community members here enjoying time with family and friends. You can enjoy your ice cream in the shop, out on the benches, walking the Mount Vernon Ave. strip or across the street where you can look at the different dog murals.“

“I was searching the universe for lavender honey ice cream as a special treat for Valentine’s Day. My wife and I had it a million moons ago in Palm Springs and we loved it so much. I came across Moorenkos and met Susan who is so, so nice. She was able to get me a nice supply of the lavender honey ice cream and we also stocked up on cinnamon cappuccino. Omg! Definitely the best gelato place in the area, is it the only one in the area that’s good? ? they also have ridiculously good coffee! I always take a bag home with me to brew. They don’t have a lot of seats inside the store but there is more seats outside if the day is nice.“

Her descriptions of items completely changed the dinner choices the three of us had after looking at the menu. Ty highlighted new items on the menu with nuance and apt descriptions. “Van Leeuwen is always a solid choice for ice cream. Although it is pricey, you can get one of their pints in a store at the same price as a scoop from the shop. It's still nice to go try things out though, and get unique flavors, like the Penn Quarter Porter x DC Brew, which was quite yummy“

They move through lines quickly and there's a nice seating area upstairs that usually has a couple open seats. Only downside is that it's pretty expensive -- $8 for just 1 medium sized scoop. Even for DC that's pretty bad. Definitely worth trying though!

“This is the best pound for pound ice cream in the area. I know my ice cream and have tried pretty much every place in the DMV. My tops have been the original South Mountain and Woodbourne Creameries. This is better!! The rum raisin and coconut are my go to’s.
The staff are always friendly and will let you sample different flavors. The serving size is gigantic. One scoop is like 2.5 regular scoops at most places.,

I can’t believe the amazing and wonderful place I “found” today when I finally made the bold decision to try something different. At first, I was going to grab a slice of pizza because I was impressed by the look of the slices in the display case.
