“I hadn’t been here in years since they changed ownership. Looking at some of the reviews I was leery. Boy am I glad that I didn’t listen. Went here for dinner last night and everything was absolutely delicious. The fried chicken, fried catfish, lambs, crab cakes and sides of Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, collards, potato salad, and corn bread were all superb. It definitely tasted like eating at your grandmothers. The potato salad was just like my Gma’s; finely diced with celery, celery seed, and a slight tang of mustard accompanied by a slight sweetness. The collards are vegan hence no meat but were still delicious, tender, and flavorful. The drinks were delicious as well. The portion sizes were quite large with everyone having leftovers except for the lamb chops they were so delicious that my friend ate all of them. Matter of fact when she accidentally attempted to cut them with the wrong side of the knife it still went through. Couldn’t recommend more supporting this black owned business.“

“I had heard of Call Your Mother when researching good bagel places in DC. The bagels are okay - they are definitely not the chewy New York style I am used to. The everything was a bit underwhelming, however the apple cinnamon had just the right amount of sweetness. The oat latte was actually quite good; it’s a really good cup of coffee with a huge range of bagel sandwiches.Vegetarian options: You can build your own bagel sandwich and add veggies if you have specific preferences.“

“The menu had too many good options and I wish I could come here all the time to get through the entire menu. During this trip, we tried the ube milk and the mango yuzu black tea. Both with boba of course. The ube milk was made with real ube so it was starchy like a potato, thick like a watered down milk shake, and really delicious. It wasn't sweet to me, it felt like a dessert vs a drink. The real winner was the mango yuzu black tea. It was also made with real mango fruit puree and tasted like a mango fruit leather. Bursting with flavor from the mango and had a zing from the yuzu, it was the perfect drink for the warmer weather outside. The boba was also so soft and chewy. This was a true boba place. And it was literally ran by one guy. If I lived in DC, this would be my go to boba drink place for sure.“

We enjoyed mozzarella sticks which we could tell were made in house and not just reheated from frozen like in most other places. The pizza my son got was fresh and delicious. “My colleague lives in the area and invited me for a drink and I had never heard of the spot. It was chill around happy hour, kinda empty. Classic dive bar. The beer was cold. By the second drink the place started to fill and it seemed like the male/female ratio was very lopsided to the female persuasion and at first I was like “cool”, and then I reeeally took it all in and started to wonder if I was at a gay bar (which is still totally cool). Maybe it was the vendor selling “Dyke” merchandise, or the fact that for once I was able to enjoy a drink without being bothered by strangers or crowded by yuppies. Either way the atmosphere was conducive to minding my own business and having a good time. The outdoor area is great.The upstairs had vendors with various art and wares they made. I have since learned that the event was actually “Dew Drop’s Dyke Party”. I would gladly come to another Tuesday “Dyke Party” if it’s always so chill (albeit not very diverse).The downstairs also had a bar and around 8 there was Christmas-themed live music of the R&B/Soul/Jazz persuasion. This crowd was substantially more eclectic and in my subjective views couldn’t be categorized as homogenous. Free live music in DC is unheard of so I was extremely gracious.My only complaint is that this is a dive in the heart of the dmv that doesn’t serve National Bohemian. But I have since learned that they allow dogs so I won’t hold it against them.“
“I've ordered from this restaurant multiple times and I have also dined in. It's now a staple for me. Their food is pretty consistent and is always on point when I order. I highly recommend their Salmon and Fish biriyani. It comes with a lovely yogurt sauce that pairs well with the rice. The rice and fish are well seasoned and it's enough portions to have leftovers the next day. The service is pretty quick but when I've gone it's not crazy busy so I've been fortunate. It's a nice casual spot to dine in on a date, with friends or by yourself!“

Top level has a wine bar for 21+, 1st floor is where the main cash register is located and some crackers, cheese miscellaneous food items, and basement has their kitchen and a few small tables for seating, and some more food products they sell (like a mini mart). There is free parking behind the restaurant. There is a back entrance from the parking lot that leads to the top floor where the wine/alcohol is served. There are 2 individual bathrooms located on the top floor as well. We don't drink alcohol, so we went down to the 1st level to check out their other products offered. The front entrance leads to the first floor.We came here because we heard from a local that they sell coffee there, and we ordered a Chai Latte and Oatmilk latte. The lady staff was so kind, friendly and welcoming, and guided us to sit down and the drinks will be brought to us. We opted to sit in the basement. There are a few small tables there. My daughter and I really enjoyed our chai latte. It was delicious. However, the oatmilk latte was a little on the sour/acidic side for our taste. But we'd definitely come back to try their sandwiches in the future, hopefully when the weather gets warmer and we can sit outdoors.Their google map hours said they close at 6pm on Tuesday, but we found out that they close at 8pm. So you should call ahead to check on their hours. Also, they're not open early in the morning.“

“Lost Generation is such a gem in the NE area. I walk past this brewery on the MBT all the time but this was my first time visiting. The staff were absolutely amazing, both friendly and helpful in explaining the beer options. I truly enjoyed hearing the owner's story of starting the brewery. It was great to hear about this family run business. Lost Generation had a great selection of beers especially IPAs, which are my favorite. They do not have food but they have rotating food trucks every week. You can also get a brewery tour here. The space is nice and open, and family friendly. I look forward to stopping in more on my MBT walks.“
“Yes! I love the concept. I love how it’s a hand made patty and the burger was cooked perfectly. In addition, you have an option to add items to your burger if you do the build your burger option. You can also choose their preselected choices which look really good. I chose to add sautéed onions, bacon, and Italian sausage. I will say although the Italian sausage was good, I wouldn’t add it again; it didn’t hurt the burger overall. You choose your seasoning (I chose basic), sauce (house bbq), lettuce and tomato. I also ordered the seasoned fries (garlic parmesan). I was curious so I asked for the spicy ranch. It was pretty good.“
