“This is an adorable wine bar- everyone is very nice and professional and they absolutely know their wine styles - it just feels like it caters a bit too much to older folks but could really attract more millennials with some improvements. With Rockville/Kensington becoming younger and younger there is a lot of potential to bring in more business if they remodeled a bit and boosted the atmosphere (better music, more talkative staff, maybe some wine-special events like a “Pinot noir night” or themed around highlighting specific regions…or trivia is always safe). “6 years after my first review, 7.5 years since I first darkened the door on my way to a job interview, and this continues to be my favorite place in the DMV. They have other locations now that are bigger and fancier, but the OG is homey, friendly, and perfect. The coffee and other drinks are delicious, the food is lovingly prepared by magicians in the tiny kitchen, tables are regularly cleaned, and the counter staff is always courteous and helpful even when swamped by the brunch rush. The over-medium eggs in my go-to huevos rancheros are always perfectly cooked, the slaw on the pupusas is a bright and crunchy accompaniment to the cheesy masa goodness, and the banana pudding made me a convert after not liking banana desserts for decades. When I've been able to tear myself away and order other things I've never been disappointed. They put just as much care into takeout orders as eat-ins. Yes, the prices are bougie, but I've never felt like I didn't get my money's worth in comparison to similar establishments. I've even bought a piece of art from one of their regular featurings of local artists on the wall. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.“

“Excellent meal for Valentine's Day! We had the special Valentine's Day menu (pretty much all new entrees) and it did not disappoint. The pork "spring roll" was amazing, as was the beef with grits and wish they could appear on their regular menu one day. The service was excellent as always. The wine was delicious and reasonably priced for the bottle.“

“The staff and service was impeccable. This is hands down the best sushi restaurant I've ever experienced. The seafood is incredibly fresh, and every dish is visually stunning. The creativity behind the sauces truly sets this place apart, and I even heard the chef makes his own soy sauce—which absolutely shows in the depth of flavor. The Japanese uni was beautifully presented, and the tuna was a deep, rich red that melted in my mouth, finished perfectly with a delicate sprinkle of truffle oil. “Hidden gem of a shop, literally as you have to navigate through an office building to get there. The presumably owner was wonderful and very helpful, he also emphasized his use of extra virgin olive oil for health. I don’t think the Chicken Msakhen I got was on the online menu, but so so tasty.

More of a takeout shop than a date night vibe, but it does have free WiFi! Please consider giving them your business, it’s so worth it“

“Absolutely delicious pasta and desserts (Budino!). The focaccia is every bit as good as the reviews had us believe. Would’ve preferred not to have been kept waiting after making a reservation at the front desk, but the service after we were seated was impeccable. Had a great time and will definitely be back.“

Like it) and the mushroom soup. Sorry I can’t provide pics cause I wanted to enjoy the full experience. Both plates excelled in presentation and flavors. They blew my mind; specially the mushroom soup. It was amazing! I also like that the Persian bowl was a feature by an Iranian chef recently arrived to the country. The ambience and service were outstanding as well. And I loved that I could, for once, speak Spanish without feeling intimidated.“

“If you are on a gluten free diet, this restaurant is a real treat. This is the ONLY restaurant I know of in the entire DC area that offers gluten free French toast!!! It is really yummy. It is gluten free cinnamon raison bread that they make into French toast. It is served with maple syrup that has few slices of bananas in it. It is always served warm. (Be sure to look for the bananas. If the French toast is served with sliced strawberries, that is the wheat based French toast.) This restaurant also has gluten free bread so most of their sandwiches can be made gluten free upon request. And they can make their eggs benedict gluten free by using their gluten free toast. It is a very pleasant experience dining here. I usually dine outside. They are located on a small street in Georgetown. Georgetown can be crowded but on this small street, it is never very busy. On a nice weather day, it is a pleasant experience to eat the gluten free French toast while enjoying the weather. The service is always good too. I enthusiastically recommend this restaurant.“

“5 stars isn't enough!! From the moment we walked in until the end of our night we were satisfied. The decorations, food, and service was amazing! They even offered me a quiet place to pray :). Give this place a try-trust me (portions may seem small, but it was very filling- we ordered the bowl of fries, which came with a delicious sauce, CROQUETTES, fish burger, beef burger, and gnocchi pomodoro. “We sat at the high tables, because we didn't have a reservation, but we received great service. The bar area gets crowded so we were lucky to get a seat and experience their 3 course meal. Every course was delicious and felt like a treat.“

“First visit; I went for Restaurant Week. I ordered the chicken corn chowder, the short rib ravioli and the caramel cheesecake. The chowder was excellent, a great balance of corn and chicken and a goodly amount--but not too much--pepper. I loved it...and a very generous portion! The ravioli was super too--cooked to perfection, stuffed to capacity with cheese, accompanied by a nice hunk of well-seasoned and -cooked short rib. I wasn't able to finish it, so I took some home. I took the cheesecake home too and ate it after a couple of conf calls. Just the right amount of caramel with a couple of strawberries and a creme Anglaise sauce. Scrumptious!! I don't remember many occasions when I've loved all three courses of a meal, but that was certainly the case tonight. I can't wait to go back.“

“This was a very satisfying burger. The Lucky Bun burger had Gouda, arugula, and charred red onions. Very hearty. Complex flavors. And i love the malt vinegar mayonnaise that comes with the fries.

“We had a great overall stay and really enjoyed our time at the hotel. The location was excellent—very convenient and within walking distance to many of the museums and main attractions, which made getting around with our family incredibly easy.

The hotel itself is beautiful and has a great atmosphere. That said, our room did feel a bit cramped for a family of four, and we found the lighting to be somewhat limited. The bed was also softer than we prefer, which made it a little less comfortable for us.

We did have an issue where some of our laundry was accidentally taken by housekeeping, likely mistaken for trash. While that was frustrating, the hotel staff was responsive and helpful in addressing the situation, which we appreciated.

On a positive note, the café was fantastic—both the food and drinks were excellent and something we looked forward to during our stay. We also really enjoyed meeting Garnet (“Mr. DC”), who was friendly, engaging, and added a special touch to our experience.

Overall, despite a few minor issues, we had a very good stay and would consider returning, especially for the location and service.“
