“My go-to coffeeshop ever since moving to the neighborhood a year ago. The coffee is delicious and every sandwich is made fresh. Comfortable seating on the upper level with views of the nearby park makes for a great spot to relax. Highly recommend over the many chain coffeeshops dotting Navy Yard.“

“Vigilante Coffee: A Must-Visit for Coffee Lovers and Artisans
Rating: 5 stars out of 5 stars
Vigilante Coffee is a true gem in Hyattsville, Maryland. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by an eclectic and artistic ambiance that instantly puts you at ease. The décor is a delightful blend of modern industrial elements and rustic charm, featuring a captivating plant wall that adds a touch of nature to the space.
The staff at Vigilante Coffee is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about coffee. They took the time to explain the different brewing methods and roast levels, ensuring that I got the perfect cup to my liking. Their passion for coffee is evident in their recommendations and the meticulous preparation of each beverage.
The oatmilk latte I ordered was absolutely delicious. The oatmilk was perfectly frothed, and the espresso was smooth and rich, with a hint of chocolatey notes. The latte was not only a treat for my taste buds but also a work of art, with a beautiful latte art design adorning the top.
In addition to their exceptional coffee, Vigilante Coffee also serves a variety of delectable treats, including their signature Açaí bowls. These colorful and nutritious bowls are packed with fresh fruits, granola, and a creamy Açaí base, making them a perfect choice for a healthy and satisfying snack.
What truly sets Vigilante Coffee apart is its commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing. The owner, Franklin Ventura, has personally visited the coffee farms they source their beans from, ensuring that they maintain fair and sustainable practices. This dedication to ethical sourcing is reflected in the high quality and exceptional flavor of their coffee.
Overall, Vigilante Coffee is an exceptional coffee shop that offers a unique and memorable experience. The combination of excellent coffee, friendly service, a vibrant atmosphere, and a commitment to sustainability makes it a must-visit for anyone in the area. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or simply looking for a cozy place to relax and enjoy a delicious beverage, Vigilante Coffee is the perfect spot for you.“

“I went in on 4th of July for the first time and tried an iced la banda (lavender) cappuccino at the awesome Robin's suggestion. It was creamy and perfect for the summer day, and Robin was so kind! I took my friend back the next day and we got an iced cortado, an iced orange despadura, and an iced.. vanilla latte! Yeah. Another customer suggested adding mocha to the orange, and it was HEAVENLY. I was skeptical of orange in coffee, but no, I was wrong! There's a reason why the despadura is the most popular drink! The other baristas are equally nice, and I just like the vibe there in general. We found a nice place to sit outside. I think the only suggestion I'd give is to make the coffee display in the center of the shop a bit smaller so people can get around it more easily. Unido is so cool. ☕️🌸“

“Great place. Wish they would open a 2nd place at Liberty Exchange in Sykesville - 2 units still open for a nice coffee place (that isn’t Starbucks!) one is right next to Basta Pasta!!“

“We had the best time at KooKoo DC last night. They accommodated a table of 14 for my spouse's birthday and never let us feel like an imposition. The food was so fresh, authentic, and reasonably priced - I did a double take when we got the bill. I even felt like we went all-out with apps, drinks, and desserts! The owner was also so kind - we just felt so cared for the whole time and can't wait to visit again.“

“Love this seemingly secret spot! It's tucked away, but conveniently located right by the U St Metro station. I enjoy and look fwd to their unique seasonal flavors and the welcoming vibe as it's also the lobby of a hostel/hotel. Glad they are still going strong!“

“Delicious coffee! I’ve had many iced lattes in my life and the one I had here is definitely up there as one of my favorite cups. The service was also amazing — Greg is so kind and helpful. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area and looking for a good cup of coffee and a solid breakfast :)“

“Rue has been my go-to cafe for the last year or so, so I decided it’s way overdue for me to give them a review. I literally love everything about Rue - the coffee is delicious and I love all their seasonal drinks (though it’s always so hard to decide between getting the seasonal and my go-to lavender latte), the food is fireeee (get the avo turkey with spicy mayo! it’s so good 😭 oh and the parmesan/leek pastry is stupid good, as are like all their pastries), and all the staff are just beyond kind and wonderful. The space is also super cute and cozy. Absolutely my favorite cafe in the neighborhood and will be my go-to always.“

“This is absolutely one of my favorite places to go! The Roost was my go to during the pandemic with tons of outdoor seating. Since it was in my neighborhood we frequented a lot. The staff watched my little one practically grow up there! It became our meeting place and neighborhood watering hole. Quick and efficient and some of the best food and customer service! We’ve moved from the area but always stop by when in town because it feels like home!“

“I've been to SOST a few times over the last few months. I love it. The food is delicious and the staff are really top tier. They all have a great demeanor and offer a great environment. There is always something nice to enjoy at SOST, whether it be love music, a cafe vibe, or a community event.
Some friends and I went today for brunch. All though the menu was a bit limited, we all ordered 3 different things and we all enjoyed it. Our server was a great sport by listening to us ask why there weren't any breads or carbs on the menu and Saim was very accommodating when spoke with him as well. He gave us a full tour of the restaurant and it was just a great time right before the Brunch and Go Home event began.“

“Overall lackluster experience. There are better French-style restaurants in DC. Cute place, great location, food was just ok. We've had better similar dishes elsewhere locally. Wait staff was attentive but seemed disinterested. Might try brunch one day. Not sure we'd return for dinner.“

“Where do I start…this restaurant fired on all cylinders and I walked out with full satisfaction. I shared the awaze tibs and five veggies with two friends. The flavor was off the charts and the presentation of the food was so clean and organized. The spice level was just right. The prices are very fair for the portion of food. The customer service is top-notch and the lady at the counter and in the kitchen will treat you like family. If you’re in the DMV area, you need to come here and bring friends. Will definitely be coming back.“

“I was in a training near the 15th Street location of Zeke’s. Found it the first morning and went back every day. Shared my experience with others and we all loved it. A local was amazed at her coffee and will be a regular now. The employees were so kind and remembered my order every single day. Best dirty chai I’ve ever had! Quality coffee. Friendly employees. Great prices.“

“The fam and I stopped by here after a trip the Postal Museum (review to come on that for those of you who follow...aka my wife) and were really impressed. Coffee shops are a dime a dozen in the city, but good coffee shops can be pretty hard to come by.
Ebenezers was a breath of fresh air both metaphorically in the sense that it's a beautiful shop and had a really refreshing, open atmosphere, and literally because they pump the AC inside and it felt great coming in from the muggy outdoors.
The coffeehouse itself it's surprisingly spacious. On the main level there's a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. When we came (early afternoon) we were able to walk right up to the counter to order and had no trouble finding a spot to sit. They also have a basement seating area that had a lot of seating, but it looks like they open and close that for private events, so not sure frequently it's available. Nevertheless, it was open when we were there.
The staff was super friendly and helpful. They took our orders quickly and we were able to just sit down and wait...and wait...and wait some more. I think there was some issue with the espresso machine because the barista kept pulling shots and then smelling the coffee that came out. After doing this a couple of times he called over another employee and did the same thing with him. After a brief consultation they didn't do anything to the machine, pulled the shots for me and my wife and handed them to us.
I'm not really sure what that consultation was, but I've got to say, that little demonstration didn't give me a lot of comfort about what we would be drinking.
Nevertheless, putting that behind me, we grabbed our drinks, went outside and started sipping. Honestly, they were both great. I ordered a latte and it was wonderful, my wife ordered a lavender iced latte which was also quite nice. Maybe the barista pulling shots was just THAT exacting, who can say for sure?
All in all, this is a great spot to stop off. It's really close to Union Station, easy to walk to and a nice place to sit down and do some work. I'll be coming back and hoping the espresso machine is cleaned by then.“

“I stopped by Pitango for dessert, and it definitely hit the spot! 😋 I tried two flavors: Stracciatella (vanilla with chocolate chips) and Fondente (dark chocolate). I don't usually eat gelato, so I was pleasantly surprised by the creaminess. The service was excellent; I wasn’t sure what to choose, but the cashier helped me by offering samples and sharing details about each flavor I tried. One of the chocolate flavors I sampled was incredibly rich and chocolatey—it's water-based and vegan-friendly, which was a first for me! The restaurant was nice, clean, and had indoor seating that could accommodate several people, but I decided to take my treat to go.“

“I’m fairly new to road biking and had just bought a new to me road bike from FB Marketplace. I had sent an email through their contact form which Laurie answered and gave me enough reason to bring my bike to Proteus. I brought my bike in this past Saturday. The first person that greeted me was Paul. He checked over my bike and let me know that my bike was really in great shape and made a few minor adjustments that he didn’t charge me for. He replaced my seat and clipless pedals with flat pedals. Literally everyone in that shop made me feel comfortable and welcome. Laurie, Jeff, Duncan, Andy, Paul, yall are amazing and made me feel at home. I live in DC, but Proteus is my go to bike shop now!“

“I have been coming to this coffee shop almost every day since they opened around 10 years ago - way before Blagden Alley was trendy! Even though it’s technically a national chain, this particular location has always felt much more like a local institution. The staff is always so nice (current manager Alyssa is a delight, as is longtime barista Sandra) and the vibes are always great, whether it’s saying hi to the morning commuters or meeting interesting convention attendees from out of town. Whether you’re a visitor or a local, you can’t do better in the neighborhood than this spot!“

“It's McD's. They're all the same. That's the point!
Parking: I cannot recall the last time I parked the car and actually went into one of these places. Back in the early 90s, I think.
Anyway, there is scads of parking. Scads!“
