“It was my first time going to this place , the staff can try to be more welcoming and pleaseant and help they clients to order , I had to take my mask off to speak and let them know what i wanted and as i was ordering I felt like i was being rushed to order , the food was tasting but tge owner needs to change the way the food is charged , I was charge for each separate item this is not a place where you order yourself a complete meal for a full charge , the food was delicious but I would not go back and another turn off in the bakery area they had flies around the sweet bread .“

“Adorable little bakery tucked into an alleyway in Union Market. They're in the middle of the alley and impossible to spot (unless, as there often is, there's a line out the door), so it can feel a little sketchy to walk aimlessly through a random alleyway, but Bread Alley makes the walk super cute with a lovely string of arrows pointing you to their gorgeous black brick and wooden storefront.

They don't have a full-time cashier, so if you get to Bread Alley during one of their off-peak hours, you have to knock or ring the bell and wait for one of their bakers to come open the door for you. Once they do, you'll be welcomed into a cozy little shopping area with just a cash register, small pastry case (which just includes a few exemplary pastries -- the rest are in the back), and a wall of various types of bread. I didn't end up grabbing one of their breads, but I'll definitely have to make my way back for them; the harissa black sesame sourdough looked incredibly enticing, but I just, unfortunately, didn't have a need for a full loaf of bread at the time. However, I was in the mood for a sweet treat and decided to get a classic pain au chocolat. They don't have an indoor seating space, given their relatively barebones front-end, so I just ate my croissant as I walked home. It was a beautiful croissant, with a gorgeous lamination inside and nice glossy finish. It was a smidge too doughy for my taste, as I generally prefer really light and airy croissants, but it was still delicious.“

They’ve taken my child behind the scenes and shown him how grains are killed and bread is baked. I could not ask for a better community and diet staple.“

“I went to purchase a birthday cake for my daughter and I noticed how delicious the cookies looked. I also read on all the reviews how amazing their cookies are especially the snicker doodle. “We consider ourselves conesures of cupcakes. Traveled the US and abroad tasting cupcakes. These were the very worst. Customer service is terrible. Sprinkles, Georgetown, and Heaven Sent Cupcakery Cupcakes exceeds these by leaps and bounds and they all have EXCELLECT Customer service. Oh and their cupcakes are half the price. Sugar Vault is true to its name. The frosting like many have complained has no flavor and measures about a third of a cup in ratio to the cupcake and is unbarerably sweet. The cupcake lacked moisture and was a bit dense. The red velvet did not have a red velvet flavor. Oh and you can't go in to see what you are buying. This is the only bakery that will not allow you to enter even in small numbers rotating thru. Buyer beware...price far exceeds the value. $7 cupcakes, $16 cinnamon roll (haven't yet tried the cinnamon roll). Bought 2 red velvet cupcakes taste tested one and threw the frosting and other cupcake out.“

“I just went there today a few minutes ago and as soon as I walked i was greeted and welcomed by a gentleman didn’t catch his name but he was very nice and let me know in how many minutes my food would be out. I always wanted to try it and today I did and I’m happy I did. Btw I got the chicken burrito and it was around $12 and some change but it was so good the taste omg amazing everything.! Great experience overall!! 😀

The eggs were fried nicely. The toast was supposed to be sourdough, but it was more like a thick cut of white bread and under toasted, probably because it's so thick. Bacon was nice. I had a cappuccino and it was acceptable, but not good enough to finish. This is a really clean, nice, professional coffee shop with a lot of working professionals stopping by. Good atmosphere and a solid go to spot.“

“This bakery is located in the historic Eastern market on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC. My favorite thing is the molasses ginger cookie, with no icing and I like them gooey in the middle. I asked for them that way and I get them that way. Their snickerdoodles are also good and they have a nice selection of breads. Not everything is baked on premise. The owner and the other workers are all very nice people.

Parking: They are very busy on the weekends. The whole market and parking gets more difficult but come on Tuesday through Friday and you'll have your pic of parking spaces. Everything is almost everything is metered.

“First visit, and the experience was mixed:

- Atmosphere: great, location is very convenient, suitable for working on a laptop, reading, small gatherings, etc.

- Food: very good

- Coffee: asked for it a certain way, but the barista who handled my request decided to not listen and make it the way they think it should be made, despite me notifying them twice.

There were two emplyees:
- A young man who was professional and warm in handling customer requests and responding to different incidents, which was very appreciated.
This is a five star review because of him.

- Another young person who needs more training on listening and delivering customer requests.
I tried to gently give them feedback on how they handled my order, but I was met with an “I don’t care about how you want your coffee, I follow the lines, take it or leave it” attitude, which was very cold even though they used polite words, low tone and gave a meaningless “have a good day” at the end.

“Very nice little cafe with excellent coffee and food. The breakfast sandwich hit the spot, hot and freshly made with scrambled eggs, cheddar, spinach and soft, not too heavy ciabatta bread. The staff were super friendly, and as an animal lover I was happy to see Chez Lily is dog friendly too. I saw a cute little pug come in while I was there.“
