“For some reason we were skeptical about returning to the premises after the experience we had under the previous owners. It was a massive mistake - my wife and I thought we would 'give it a try' and I am kicking myself for all the times we drove into DC from Silver Spring looking for a fun place to eat! From the moment we met Aidan Rinehart the GM, until we received and paid the check, we were blown away by the vibey atmosphere, the speed of delivery and the great tasting and well presented food. Alyssa, our server, deserves a special mention for her knowledge of the products, her attentive but unobtrusive service and exceptional friendliness. She is an absolute asset to Zinnia and we hope that she'll be there for as long as we patronise ZInnia, and it is well worth patronising. We look forward to trying the dinner menu, but we will definitely be back for a repeat 'Tavern' experience as well Compliments to the owner, GM, chef and staff - see you all again soon!“

“As an woman who loves Ethiopian music, nostalgia, and the comfort of familiar songs, it can be hard to find a place where you can go by yourself, enjoy live music, and still feel safe, welcomed, and at home. That is exactly where Mulushewa in Silver Spring stands out.

I became familiar with Mulushewa about a year and a half ago. I don’t remember exactly what my first show was, but I remember the feeling clearly: I walked in and felt at home. Over time, it has become more than just a restaurant or live music spot for me. It has become my go-to place, almost like family.

The live band, the singers, and the overall atmosphere bring so much warmth and joy. The music carries that special Ethiopian nostalgia — the kind that reminds you of home, memories, culture, and community. Mulushewa has also become a home for incredible Ethiopian artists, including Abegazu Shiota, Yohannes Tonha, Abdu Kiar and many other talented singers and musicians.

I highly recommend Mulushewa to any Ethiopian woman, or anyone who loves Ethiopian music, who wants to go out, enjoy live music, feel safe, and experience the beauty of our culture in a welcoming space. It is truly a special place in Silver Spring.“

“I enjoyed the green zone, it had me flying high. Flying high when I tried their coffee drink. There was so much in it I don’t even know what to call it, but look at the picture, it looks delicious. I payed a pretty penny for it too, but pennies I got. This place cost a lot of green so bring your wallet, credit card too. Have fun, it’s good (at least their coffee drink is).“

“Went to Kitchen +Kocktails for the first time last night. The decor was very nice, and the music was good and not obnoxious. Our server Ally was terrific! I’m not a drinker, so when I asked her if there were any cocktails that didn’t taste like alcohol, I thought she would look at me like I was crazy, but she didn’t! She seemed to know exactly what I was talking about and immediately had a couple of suggestions. I went with the mixed berry lemon drop and it was perfect for me. “My friends and I went to ISLA yesterday for my good friend’s birthday dinner. The restaurant’s atmosphere is very sexy, modern and the center chandelier is so beautiful. We had the octopus, lamp chops, oxtail patties, crab patties, Brussel sprouts and golden rice. They were all really good. Our waiter was great and attentive. The only gripe I would say that I noticed was in respect to the dress code. When I arrived I noticed that someone was dressed in extremely short shorts (I could see the persons cheeks) and they were allowed in without anyone saying anything to them. As we were leaving though a group of women entered the restaurant and one of them had a sleeveless top and was showing some cleavage. The host told her that there was a dress code and offered her a jacket. That seemed very inconsistent to me 🤷🏽‍♀️. I also don’t think person was dressed as revealing as the prior individual that I had seen.“

“This is a great cocktail bar that also happens to have pretty good food! The only thing holding this review from being 5 stars is that the owner needs to assign more staff to the Saturday evening shift. There was 25-30 customers between 6:30 and 8pm on a Saturday, but only TWO employees working outside the kitchen. No host, no busser, no server. Just ONE waiter and ONE bartender during prime time dinner hours. The bartender was serving food instead of bartending and the waiter was frantically trying to take orders from 10+ tables. No one was bussing (dirty tables were left unattended until new customers arrived) and you had to find the waiter or bartender in order to get a seat. I hope the owner or manager sees this because I felt so bad for the two staff trying to run the front house of this restaurant on a Saturday night. They were doing their best and deserve more help so they can provide better service to customers.“

“Our son lives in the area and we have been here 4-5 since January ( every time we visit) The owners are wonderful and the staff very attentive The fish taco appetizer is wonderful ( can be enough for an entree if not wanted a big meal) I’ve had many of the entrees and never a bad meal . “What can I even say that's bad about this place? We tried the full tasting+wine menu for our anniversary dinner last week. It was so good that we had to return yesterday for restaurant week (a menu substantially smaller but just as satisfying).

The drinks were delicious and creative (get the lychee bomb), the food was adventurous and rich, the atmosphere is both sophisticated and fun, and the service was top notch.

Major shoutouts to my guys and gal Edwin, Jonas, and Mariana. Edwin was our first server and made us feel like a part of his family, joking with us, sharing stories with us, and giving us a full tour and history of the food and wine we enjoyed. On our second visit, Edwin made sure to check on us often, but our main server Jonas was equally as generous, lively, and gave us the best suggestions for what to order. He even asked the chef to make a custom dessert for us when he realized we'd tried all the ones on the menu from last week.

Favorite drinks were the lychee bomb and I think the hocus pocus. All wine pairings were delicious.

Favorite food was the quail egg with swiss chard and truffle cream, the shrimp momo, and the ghee-poached salmon, though everything was exceptional.

Don't come here if you're looking for something quick, it's a delicious marathon here.“
