“Our waiter, Caleb, was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and the dishes were interesting and unique. We were a party of 7, sat outside and really enjoyed ourselves. The pacing of all the dishes coming out was perfect. The only downside was that there was a man with a really large dog seated right next to us and the dog barked and whined (so loudly we could not hear each other) and it smacked into our chairs repeatedly. Once the man left things improved and we had a great experience.“

“A hole in the wall Chinese place, which is delicious! I ordered the veggie lo mein (lunch) I didn’t expect it to be so small and shrimp and broccoli with garlic sauce with would the normal lunch size. The flavors were there, but could be spicer. It was piping hot when I got it! And I got 2 veggie eggrolls with were great!! Great customer service! And they speak English!“

All of the dishes I've tried are very fresh and aromatic, especially regarding the oils and sauces. It is very apparent that all the ingredients are of good quality. “Saw an influencer raving about this so off we went to try for ourselves. So glad we did, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We opted for the AUCE dim sum which they offer on the weekends. Part of what I liked about this is you order off the menu not a rolling cart coming by like many dim sum places. This way I could read through all the options and know what I wanted to try. And not be disappointed if I ordered something I didn’t like. But this was not an issue here, there was nothing we ordered that wasn’t delicious!!! Dave kept asking what my favorite dish was but I couldn’t answer, it was all so good! So many choices but we couldn’t fit in all of what we wanted to try. We can’t wait to go back to try other dishes! The staff was always checking in with us, offered suggestions and made sure our teapot stayed filled. Do yourself a favor and go try it for yourself!“

“This was the most authentic, delicious, Chinese food I've had since visiting China back in 2007. It brought back so many memories, I could have cried. I had the black vinegar peanuts, red chili sesame dumplings, and the minced pork noodles. I can't wait to go back. This is food I'll dream about.“

We were so excited to finally find a chinese restaurant that is somewhat formal and provide good quality ingredients! I'm super picky with my meat (the , but the fresh meat, vegetables, and other ingredients truly satisfy my particular self. They never disappoint with the quality of the food and the temperature! We have tried at least 80% of their menu items, including the AYCE lunch menus, and our go-to items are: pan seared shrimp dumplings, dragon garlic spicy eggplants, singapore curry noodles, shrimp lo mein, spicy dry fried bamboo fish, numbing green peppercorn flounder, sesame chicken (it's online, not in the menu), and spicy kong pao chicken. The waitstaff and manager are all so nice in addition to the great food! We will continue to go back and we're so happy people are finding a good quality chinese food!“

Food is super unique and delicious, highly recommend as I've never seen another place that offers this cuisine. Intriguing flavor combinations. Good portion sizes for the price - come hungry or expect to take leftovers. Seating setups are also very interesting, the place is cutely decorated but there's some wonky chairs/tables.“

“Absolutely delicious food! I first came here six years ago for my husband’s birthday after hearing about the restaurant from a foodie. It’s an unpretentious spot with incredibly good food. We ordered 10+ different dishes that first time and loved everything, especially the dan dan noodles and the pork bun. Nothing can ever compare to their Dan Dan noodles no matter how many times we order them from different restaurants!

We moved far away after a few years, but when we came back to visit friends this month, this was the first restaurant we wanted to return to. The food was just as delicious as it was six years ago. Highly recommend!“

“Foo Lin continues to be absolute perfection. Every single time we come here, it’s five stars — no exceptions.

This visit, we tried the Hunan flounder special, and wow. The flounder was incredibly fresh — succulent, juicy, and cooked perfectly. The Hunan sauce it came with was bold, flavorful, and absolutely amazing. I’m genuinely excited to post the pictures because we were too busy enjoying the food to do it justice in the moment.

As always, the hot and sour soup hits every single time. The spring rolls are amazing, the egg rolls are amazing, and the spicy shrimp dumplings are out of this world. There is not a single miss on the menu.

And the service? Truly unmatched. The bartending and hospitality here are exceptional. Ms. Lin and Jenny is also absolutely amazing — warm, attentive, and consistently wonderful. The staff makes you feel like family, not just customers.

I’ve been coming to Foo Lin for over 20 years, and I can honestly say it’s the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. I will never love another place the way I love this one. The food, the service, the consistency — it’s all just incredible.

“I came from the zoo and wanted to sit down for some lunch. We got the Peking Duck and we’re not disappointed. Order a hot tea, the tea service is beautiful. “This is a nice reminder of what authentic Chinese food taste like. We tried slices beef with peppers, spring rolls, egg drop soup, and chicken fried rice. Everything was piping hot and well flavored.

The only thing to be modified is the time it took to take drink orders and the order of food delivery (the preference is for appetizers to come out before the meal but asking the customer if all is desired together is good).

The venue is spacious, the light is well balanced and it has nice music playing juat enough to set the scene for authentic cuisine. We will definitely be back when we return to DC.“

“Yesterday was my husband and I first time actually ordering from this carryout. I was craving a steak and cheese and my husband reminded me of Jerry Chans, which save us a drive because usually we would go Uptown NW DC to order our steak and cheese subs. We drive pass Jerry Chans almost everyday, but what throws us off is the fact that there is always vagrants around that area.... Anyway we called in our order and when we arrived I introduced myself to a nice lady that works there name Jane. Very pleasant lady. Omg our steak and cheese subs where perfect and loaded with plenty of steak.... Finger licking good.. we definitely will be coming back to try other foods.“

“Not only is every dish delicious, but the service at Isshin is so warm, so welcome and so lovely. Secret menu item is the handmade dumplings (they have two types so ask for these specifically). Their miso soup is very rich but not overly salty, which can be difficult to find, yet it is here daily and for a good price. I’m particularly in love with their udon noddles, which I get vegetarian with tofu, and the veggies are perfectly crisp. Their sushi rolls are fresh and I never get the seaweed burps. They know us when we walk in and make my wife and I feel like family. Become a regular, it’s worth it.“

“Authentic, no-frills, all-flavor DC carry-out food, with fried chicken wings, original-style DC mambo sauce, fried rice with plenty of onions and bean sprouts, french fries made as you ask with salt, pepper, ketchup, a steak and cheese with seasoned meat and plenty of fillings, I prefer getting it with everything and hot peppers, and it was the nostalgic, savory taste I'd been looking for since loving in DC and moving to VA 10 years ago. This spot has great food. Make sure you have Zelle or cash, they don't take credit cards and there's an ATM inside.
I got a half steak and cheese woth everything on it plus hot peppers, an order of French fries with salt, pepper, ketchup, and 3 wings with fried rice with mambo sauce on everything. Plus I got an extra container of mambo sauce for dipping. It was less than $20. Wait time was maybe 10 minutes.“

“I love this place! I've been here about five times now and it just keeps getting better. I always get just the basic AYCE for $27 and the meat is good for the price. The service is consistently good, and recently they added a make your own sauce bar, with a buffet of rice, noodles, fried rice, tons of vegetables and sides to choose from, as well as little cakes and ice cream included! Karaoke is always fun and the atmosphere is great.

Side note, they do validate parking but for 2 hours only. And they charge an additional $17 for food waste so be mindful of what you get. All in all, I recommend checking this place out!“

Parking is free and most times you can park right outside of it. They offer delivery but is popular for take out. The people at the counter are very nice. I recommend their Kung Pao chicken. “The best soup dumplings / xiaolongbao in the DMV!! We have tried soup dumplings from Bobs Shanghai, Yus Noodles, A&J, and even the new Nan Xiang at Montgomery Mall, but we still keep coming back to Shanghai Taste.

Both their steamed soup dumplings and pan fried soup dumplings are absolutely delicious.

It is a small family owned restaurant. The service is quick, if not the most warm. The food is hot and delicious! Prices are great relative to their portions.“

I stick to things that are stir fried, namely their pork fried rice. I’ve tried most of the carryouts nearby and wonder chicken has the best fried rice. Also, in 2026, their combination platter, which comes with a stir fried dish, pork fried rice, and an egg roll, is only around $10. It’s hard to beat at that price.
