As someone who has travelled extensively across China, I’ve always found it hard to come by truly authentic Chinese food outside the country. But this place in Windsor completely surprised me – it’s hands down the best Chinese restaurant I’ve been to outside of China.

We tried the hot pot and fried pork belly, and both were absolutely awesome – rich in flavour, perfectly cooked, and true to the traditional taste. The ingredients were fresh, and the spice levels hit the mark just like in Sichuan.

Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a real Chinese food experience – not the usual North American version. Will definitely come back!“

“The Dearborn, Michigan, restaurant has been a longtime fixture in our community, with employee longevity guaranteeing great service and consistent taste. On this visit, I had the signature lettuce wraps, which were plentiful and tasty. The pork egg rolls were still hot when they arrived at the table, and the dipping sauce had a bit of a horseradish-y tang to it. My chicken fried rice entree was large and had great flavor, and all three dishes were fresh. Dan, the manager, came to my table to check on our order and he was most gracious and friendly. I'll be back again soon.

“We have dined for breakfast on various occasions. The tastes of the foods was amazing. The presentation of the plates was breath taking, absolutely beautiful. The only shortfall we found in the restaurant was the BLINDING sun on the East side windows. A good set of adjustable blinds would be a welcomed addition on those East side windows. All in all, the food was so good and so hot, the presentation was beautifully displayed and the staff were friendly and well experienced. We will come back and recommend restaurant to others.“

“This is our family's absolute favorite Chinese restaurant. They give you a very large portions of their super delicious food at a reasonable rate. And I'm not embellishing, I literally don't have to cook for the next 2 days when we get food from here. The employees especially the gentleman that always answers the phone and cashes you out are so friendly! Plus they have cool live plants and some fish tanks also atmosphere while you're waiting since it's not a dine in restaurant. Keep up the wonderful work New Hong Kong Inn and staff!“

“Their food is very good place used to be around on Michigan avenue they close for a while after the grandparents passed. But the grandchildren open it back up using the same recipes in the food and quality is just the same. Smaller building there for less or lack of an atmosphere but the service is excellent and so is the food quick service too. Usually a little bit of a wait but that's just cuz they're busy because their quality is so good

“First time trying this place (Chinese restaurant), and I wish I had done it sooner! They offer a great mix of Cantonese and Szechuan dishes. I ordered the shrimp with Maggi seasoning, paired with steamed rice and wonton soup. The wonton soup was light and refreshing, and the shrimp were perfectly seasoned and flavourful. Generous serving for the main dish, and both dishes were simple but done really well. The house tea was perfectly brewed, and the service was prompt and excellent. Surprised when eating inside no plates or silverware. Everything brought out in to go containers that's okay. Absolutely fantastic Delicious Scallion Pancakes not found in many places. The quart of Spot packed full was good except broth zero flavor like water. Chicken Egg Foo Young nothing like ever had weird crunchy patties with very small amount of gravy. The very good Rice and a mega amount. Egg Roll spot on Wonderful. The bad absolutely worse ever Pupu Platter Chicken Wings dry, Crab Rangoon Yuk, Shrimp heavy batter couldn't taste Shrimp. Ribs just ok, Spring Rolls a winner and what they call Teriyaki Beef I know as Balamaki was great. I'm willing to give them another chance to change my 3 star rating. Great effort by cook just not up to par with dozen other Chinese restaurants in the area.“

“This is my first visit to Mandarin Kitchen. I ordered #4 almond chicken combination with wonton soup and egg roll and hot tea. The almond chicken was pretty good topped with brown gravy. Wonton soup and egg roll was nice and hot and (egg roll was) crispy. 4 and 1/2 stars.“

I only ordered shrimp fried rice because I didn’t want to be disappointed.

My fried rice was perfect. The rice was a tad bit chewy but it had a great flavor which tells me it was made in a well seasoned wok. The shrimp actually had a little flavor to them. Most places the shrimp just taste boiled. I love egg foo young so I’ll be back to try that next time“
