“I have eaten here several times over the last few years, the food is always fresh, hot, and the portions are HUGE. The place is a "mom and pop". it's ran by the owners, a husband-and-wife team. Because it's just the two of them when it gets busy it takes them awhile to answer the phone and there could be as much as a 30–45-minute wait for your food. It's also carry out only. If you don't mind the no dine in option or the wait, this will probably be one of the best Chinese food places you have eaten at in the downriver area.“

“Do not let the looks of this establishment fool you. The food is incredible. The inside looks like a restaurant but im unsure if they seat anyone. All the lights were off in the dining area and one section was full of boxes. The gentleman working the front desk / phones was very nice and helpful. I got the almond chicken dinner and was it packed with flavor! They also give you a huge portion of fried rice and chicken...enough to feed 2 people. I highly recommend checking out this spot if you are in the area...this might be my new go to Chinese spot.“

“We have dined for breakfast on various occasions. The tastes of the foods was amazing. The presentation of the plates was breath taking, absolutely beautiful. The only shortfall we found in the restaurant was the BLINDING sun on the East side windows. A good set of adjustable blinds would be a welcomed addition on those East side windows. All in all, the food was so good and so hot, the presentation was beautifully displayed and the staff were friendly and well experienced. We will come back and recommend restaurant to others.“

“This place has excellent Chinese food you can tell because their phone never stops ringing there’s always people coming and going and I usually have to wait 25 to 30 minutes to get my food which is unusual for Chinese restaurants seeing how it seems like they’re always five minutes long and you can get whatever you want, but if they have good food, you’ll have to wait, which is normally not a problem it’s worth“

“Their food is very good place used to be around on Michigan avenue they close for a while after the grandparents passed. But the grandchildren open it back up using the same recipes in the food and quality is just the same. Smaller building there for less or lack of an atmosphere but the service is excellent and so is the food quick service too. Usually a little bit of a wait but that's just cuz they're busy because their quality is so good

“First time trying this place (Chinese restaurant), and I wish I had done it sooner! They offer a great mix of Cantonese and Szechuan dishes. I ordered the shrimp with Maggi seasoning, paired with steamed rice and wonton soup. The wonton soup was light and refreshing, and the shrimp were perfectly seasoned and flavourful. Generous serving for the main dish, and both dishes were simple but done really well. The house tea was perfectly brewed, and the service was prompt and excellent. Overall, a great dining experience!

“I have been a customer and have enjoyed delicious meals since it opened in 1985. We had moved away 20 years ago and whenever we came back to visit we would try to go to Shin Shin whenever possible. Staff have always been very friendly and I can honestly say I have never been disappointed in a meal. Last night my husband and I had a dinner date there. We were not disappointed. “I've been going here since I was a kid, I am 28 now. The food is cooked very well, not too salty. The almond chicken is my favorite, but the noodles and other dishes are fantastic also. They have the best jumbo egg rolls compared to any other restaurant. Try the Hot and Sour soup!“

“I’ve been trying to find good Chinese food for a few years now. I live downtown on Jefferson and I don’t like the 2 located near Belle Isle.

I only ordered shrimp fried rice because I didn’t want to be disappointed.

My fried rice was perfect. The rice was a tad bit chewy but it had a great flavor which tells me it was made in a well seasoned wok. The shrimp actually had a little flavor to them. Most places the shrimp just taste boiled. I love egg foo young so I’ll be back to try that next time“

Surprised when eating inside no plates or silverware. Everything brought out in to go containers that's okay. Absolutely fantastic Delicious Scallion Pancakes not found in many places. The quart of Spot packed full was good except broth zero flavor like water. Chicken Egg Foo Young nothing like ever had weird crunchy patties with very small amount of gravy. The very good Rice and a mega amount. Egg Roll spot on Wonderful. The bad absolutely worse ever Pupu Platter Chicken Wings dry, Crab Rangoon Yuk, Shrimp heavy batter couldn't taste Shrimp. Ribs just ok, Spring Rolls a winner and what they call Teriyaki Beef I know as Balamaki was great. I'm willing to give them another chance to change my 3 star rating. Great effort by cook just not up to par with dozen other Chinese restaurants in the area.“

“This is my first visit to Mandarin Kitchen. I ordered #4 almond chicken combination with wonton soup and egg roll and hot tea. The almond chicken was pretty good topped with brown gravy. Wonton soup and egg roll was nice and hot and (egg roll was) crispy. 4 and 1/2 stars.“

“Never been here before. I was sick with a stomach flu so I didn’t feel like anything heavy or overly flavourful. I ordered the wonton soup with egg noodles. When I entered into the place, it looked clean and the food from the kitchen smelled good. Staff greeted me immediately and were very kind. When I got home and tried the soup, it was everything I was looking for. Will be coming back when I feel better to try the other stuff on the menu!“

They could. not. have packed anymore into the containers at. all. I tried a little bit of everything and all if it is flavorful and delicious without salt being the main ingredient. I had meant to take pictures before diving in but as soon as I opened them up and the aroma of fresh hot food registered I completely forgot. This is my new go to for Chinese hands down. “Small Chinese restaurant that no longer allows dining in so it is strictly take out now. I have been coming to this place for many years, but there has been ownership turnover. However, the food still seems to be consistently very good. My favorites are sesame chicken and spicy noodles. They have a good selection of egg rolls such as pork, chicken, etc. and they are of good quality and good taste.“

“I love the food! Just FYI, they switched to carry out only so no more dining in but the food is still awesome! The egg rolls are crispy and hot! I recommend the curry beef (I like it mild, my son goes with medium), sweet and sour chicken, Moo Goo Gai Pan, beef with broccoli, General Tso's, chicken fried rice, egg drop soup, ... oh, who am I kidding?? I haven't had anything I didn't like LOL! If you can't handle msg, just request them to not add it. They're really good about that.“

“Me and husband are very picky when it comes time to Chinese. We are from GC/ Westland area with great Chinese restaurants so we have been on the hunt for something comparable. I was shocked how good this was. Egg foo young and Almond chicken was perfect. Shrimp fried rice perfect flavor, everything was hot and fresh considering it was DoorDash delivery. Only thing we did not care for was the beef broccoli due to meat being odd consistency. Other than that. Fantastic and I will order again. Don’t let me down !!“

I consider myself a Chinese food connoisseur. Tried many of the places downriver, this one's the best for the price the portions and quality. Good job Rockies we love you!“
