“Food is good and I love the sweet tea. But I have to wonder why they constantly skimp on toppings. I ordered a cheeseburger with chili and mustard only and there was maybe a bit more than a dime sized amount of chili and no mustard that I could see. I also order burgers with extra mayo and barely get any. What’s the deal?“

“This is a true old school north carolina vibe restaurant. They offer a full buffet and steakhouse menu. The food is old school country cooking, not heavy, not overly salty, just perfect. The way meemaw used to make it. Banana pudding, country steak, stuffing and mash and gravy will bring a nostalgic tear to your eye. It tastes just like home. The prices are reasonable, the quality is outstanding and the staff are all very welcoming, I felt like I was walking into a restaurant back in the 90s. Absolutely loved, well worth a drive.“

“Me and my mom love this place. We drive from Greensboro every week to get their wings with ranch and teriyaki sauce. Delicious!!!!!!! And Heather and Kristen are so sweet. I just love them to death. And i give kudos to the chef as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone.“

“Great food, great atmosphere, great service, and craft beer on tap! My family and I love this place. My only complaint would be that last time we were here, someone at the table next to us had a dog in a tote bag that was most definitely NOT a service animal. Not one staff member said anything to her. This is a problem for me as I suffer from severe animal allergies. In addition, I don’t feel it is sanitary to bring animals in an establishment where food is being sold/served. Like I said, we love this place, but if this becomes a habit we will have to find another place to go. ☹️“

“I thought I would never again taste food like my Aunt Hattie made it, but today a friend took me to University Kitchen for lunch, and I had green beans, stewed cabbage, fried chicken livers, and cornbread. It was like going back in time to my Aunt Hattie's kitchen and once again tasting good old country cooking at its best. They have managed to keep those great vintage recipes alive, and I now have a new favorite restaurant. Everyone who worked there was amiable and on top of service. It was great!“

“What started as a $4.15 Happy Meal on a road trip the day after Christmas, proceeding to hungry and very angry parents late at night after several other restaurants ended up being closed or refusing to serve walk-in customers, ended with a $40 meal and the angel at the Jake’s Diner drive-thru. I don’t actually know what’s on the menu, and honestly, they probably could’ve served Lunchables and I’d have still given them a four star review. Thank you for being open late the night after Christmas, thank you to the nice girl at the window for simply wanted 3 chicken sandwiches and fries, one spicy, and making it happen. “Wonderful customer service started at check-in and continued throughout the stay! The Bistro morning staff 3/19 was warm and welcoming! Very clean rooms, close to downtown and interstate. Only took 10 minutes to get downtown all weekend which was nice. Parking was great, you can park on whatever side of the property you are staying on. Would stay again!“

“We came in hungry after traveling. Martin, our waiter, was friendly and attentive. Took our order and served our food quickly-- all while giving us a welcoming smile. Refilled our water glasses. Checked to make sure we were happy with our food and asked if we needed anything else. Jesse, our cook, also came out to ask if we were pleased with the food. We were! It was cooked perfectly and arrived piping hot. Portions were huge. We had fish and chips and a beyond burger and split a salad. Everything was delicious. “A party of four go into Mayberry about 3:10 this afternoon! We waited about 5 minutes to even be seated! No one seemed to know what to do! We had to keep moving as we waited so that a lady could sweep! We ordered just banana splits and 2 ice cream sundaes! They were brought to us in a timely manner and that was it! Never saw the waitress again until I paid! My grandson dropped his spoon, I got up to get him another, no one at the counter! One waitress just walked by me to get out the door! No wait staff to be seen in the restaurant! Everyone was in the kitchen, talking! One lady was standing in the opening and I know that she could see me at the counter, but she chose to ignore me! I was ready to go behind the counter, but couldn’t see any spoons! After 3-4 minutes a lady comes out! We finish and get up to leave, no bill! I go to counter and wait probably 5-7 mins. Cashier has to ring up 2-3 ice creams and some man was trying to get his to-go order and he had been waiting a while! When the cashier finally ask me why I’m there, I tell her to pay my bill! She has no bill, can not find it on the cash register! She asked me twice where we were sitting! While she calls our waitress, she rings it up and I finally paid! Doesn’t give me my change back, I have to tell her what I gave her and how much change she owes me! First time in a long time that we’ve been to Mayberry and probably won’t be going back! Wasn’t very busy this afternoon, lots of employees just standing around/in the kitchen doing nothing!“

Any time I’m in the area I will definitely be back! I love Carolina bbq and they give you both coleslaw options. Their coleslaw compliments the pulled pork sandwich perfectly.“

The lady who took my order was also very sweet, she listed all the sides for me and their was so many I didn’t want to make her repeat them all again so I found a menu and chose from there. I’m not a fan of pork fatback cabbages so the spicy cabbages they had were mmm so good, the greens were tangy just how I like and the Mac and cheese don’t get me started on that, I just about ate my whole serving before I pulled out of the parking spot and almost turned back for more, I can’t wait to come back and try more of their food! “Extremely slow to be seated, ordered the Tuesday special country fried pork chops and was brought country fried chicken. I decided to eat it as no one was coming out of the kitchen. I finally got the attention of my server, she asked if I wanted to send it back. I hate waiting food so I said no, her response was”well it’s the same price “ . My bill with a drink and slice of pie was $24.00 . I think it will be a while before I return , Merry Christmas.“

“Tried this wing spot for the first time and it definitely lived up to the hype. Wings were crispy, sauced perfectly, and full of flavor. Fries were fresh, portions were good, and the customer service was on point too. Definitely one of the better wing places I’ve had in a while — I’ll be back for sure. I can’t remember her name but I think it was Holly, she even went above and beyond to help get my car unstuck across the street after they were closing. If that ain’t customer service I don’t know what is lol“
