“The hostess was excellent last night. Greeted and seated on time! Our waiter Tom was excellent! Very attentive; presented options immediately, got our orders right, and came back often to see if we needed anything. Tom had great balance: not pushy, but also coming back often to check on us.

“Pretty solid stuff. I ordered the sirloin and it was basically perfect. Fried green tomatoes were perfect… and I’m not even a huge fan of tomatoes in the first place. Attentive staff, great drinks, and good atmosphere.

The only reason I’m taking off one star is due to whatever happened with a couple of our dishes that had scallops in them. I’m not sure if the scallops went bad or had some sort of food-grade additive on them, but the scallops tasted like rubbing alcohol. Not an exaggeration. When we mentioned this to our server, the managers were very attentive and took a sample of both scallop dishes to test them out, and offered a replacement of either the entire dish or more shrimp to replace the scallops. Never figured out what was wrong with them in the end but the rest of the dish was just fine. I’m not saying to avoid the scallops, as it was likely just a bad batch! It was a great show of care from the restaurant and I would recommend this place regardless.“

“We’ve been in Winton-Salem now for almost a month for my husbands work, and we were trying out new restaurants everyday and then stumbled across the Hungry Palate. When I say we have eaten here EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. since, I am not exaggerating. Not only is the food FANTASTIC, but the bar staff are incredible! I truly feel like family. Lex, one of the bartenders, truly has gone out of her way to ensure that my husband and I are happy and satisfied ALWAYS. “I have always loved Grandma Ruby's but now that my homegirl Jana is there, it's always better, you got to go see her because she just makes the place so much better. it was great before. it's just so much better now. not to mention they have amazing food, they always have. it's just a good little country cookin' spot right there on University. if you've never had it, you have to go try it. you will not regret it.“

“We came to the restaurant today, Saturday November 8th. We aren’t from Winston, we are actually from Hickory NC and was in town for a party. I will be honest, we were first going to Texas Roadhouse and a last minute look online I found this place. Upon arrival, I was hesitant because there wasn’t many cars in the parking but I am so glad we went in. We got out of the car and they were playing 94.1 which is what we are listening to in the car. The waitress we had was awesome! She had only been there 6-7 weeks she said but she was amazing. The food was very good, especially the Spinach artichoke dip! 10/10 recommend this place! I am a firm believer in tipping and we made sure to give this waitress the tip she deserved. I wish I knew her name….“

“I stopped in to pick up a Baja Turkey Burger for my Mom. She Loves their Turkey Burgers. Her appetite is poor, since, her Stage 4 Cancer could, no, longer be treated. The treatment caused adverse, effects. My Daughters paid her a visit, during, Christmas of 22 and discovered it on the menu. They purchased it. My Mom Loved it and has desired another, since. Today is a great day for her! Thanks for offering and preparing fresh, farm to table options.“

“New menu everyday! We started with the fried green tomatoes (wouldn't recommend these they were pretty oily from the deep fry) and watermelon crab salad. Definitely recommend the watermelon salad! It was fresh, cool, crisp, and the house vinaigrette was lovely. For mains we had the filet and vegetarian entree which is new everyday! It was a delicious artichoke cake with pesto and fabulous leek risotto - wow, wow, wow. Compliments to the chef for making such a delicious vegetarian entree (rather than a plate of sides) and a new one each day 👏🏼 Ended with the chocolate crisp as recommended by our waitress which was warm and rich. We will return!“

“I've had occasion to eat at Johnny B's since it first opened. All in all it's a great restaurant, the seating is comfortable, the staff is pleasant and efficient, the food is great, and it's very clean. My only negative comments would concern the volume of the music in the background. When you go in for breakfast, or any time really, you don't need the music turned up as loud as it always is. My other negative comment concerns the fact that they are out of tea bags for hot tea quite often. If tea bags don't come when ordered there is a Food Lion right across the parking lot where a box could be purchased. These are minor items overall, and they won't stop us from dining there, but it would be nice to have these issues addressed.“

“After having some difficulty with my usual bowling alley. I found myself in Winston randomly with a two hour window between obligations. I scrolled into northside lanes and met Caleb at the front desk. Who gave me one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had at a bowling alley. From a warm greeting to exceptional knowledge, I ended up buying a bowling ball here instead of my usual shop. 10 out of 10 recommend this bowling alley for both casual and professional play. Thank you, Caleb, for everything!“

“Olive Tree is my go to place for Greek food. I love their gyros and their fried zucchini with ranch is a MUST! I have been going here for years and it is always consistently delicious. You can get take out or dine in, there are always a few people there but you can find a table. The serves is quick so it makes for a great lunch place.“

“A party of four go into Mayberry about 3:10 this afternoon! We waited about 5 minutes to even be seated! No one seemed to know what to do! We had to keep moving as we waited so that a lady could sweep! We ordered just banana splits and 2 ice cream sundaes! They were brought to us in a timely manner and that was it! Never saw the waitress again until I paid! My grandson dropped his spoon, I got up to get him another, no one at the counter! One waitress just walked by me to get out the door! No wait staff to be seen in the restaurant! Everyone was in the kitchen, talking! One lady was standing in the opening and I know that she could see me at the counter, but she chose to ignore me! I was ready to go behind the counter, but couldn’t see any spoons! After 3-4 minutes a lady comes out! We finish and get up to leave, no bill! I go to counter and wait probably 5-7 mins. Cashier has to ring up 2-3 ice creams and some man was trying to get his to-go order and he had been waiting a while! When the cashier finally ask me why I’m there, I tell her to pay my bill! She has no bill, can not find it on the cash register! She asked me twice where we were sitting! While she calls our waitress, she rings it up and I finally paid! Doesn’t give me my change back, I have to tell her what I gave her and how much change she owes me! First time in a long time that we’ve been to Mayberry and probably won’t be going back! Wasn’t very busy this afternoon, lots of employees just standing around/in the kitchen doing nothing!“

“Overall great service and food. Mike was really good about staying on top of refills and had great customer service. The only con for the whole meal was the slowness of the kitchen with all you can eat wings/shrimp/riblets. My son sat waiting quite a while as we enjoyed our food.“

“Not sure why this place doesn’t have 5 stars. Is close to tons of restaurants, is SUPER clean and appears to be either new or recently updated. The outdoor pool area is clean and has nice furniture and a fire pit. The gym has all of the normal machines and weights. The air co sit-up we was nice and cold. The bed is super comfy. Check in was quick and easy. Super great stay!“
