41 Best Craft Breweries in Asheville

“Amazing variety of delicious ginger beers. Every one was amazing, cucumber melon, hibiscus lavender, lime agave, and they do growler fill ups. This place is unique and a nice change from a traditional brewery. You can smell the ginger from a distance away. Give it a try!”

“I found this place a couple of years ago and I'm a regular customer now! The food is fantastic and if you LUV❤️dark beer like I do..... this is your "go to place" for it! I always bring my little dog with me and the servers fix fancy treats for her...?? You can sit outside by the creek, outside in the front area, at the bar or at an inside table. The service, the food and the beer is excellent!Whatever you're in the mood for.... you won't be disappointed.”

“Really cool heavy metal/macabre inspired atmosphere if you are into that kind of thing (which I am). Beers were good, got four tasters and nothing blew me away, but they were good drinkable beers nonetheless. Wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but definitely worth a pop in if you are hanging around south slope.”

“Really nice bartenders, great selection of drinks plus NA beverages. The place is huge! And has an amazing view of the river. I could sit out there all afternoon. They have a cool merchandise shop set up inside and had a good truck parked out front. Dog friendly:)”

“We stopped in almost 10 breweries in Asheville and this was one of my favorites. Large outdoor area shaded with tall trees. Although we didn't use them, there is a kids play area and a nice looking disc golf course that goes through a wooded area on the grounds. There is also an outdoor stage, although no bands were playing when we were there. The indoor space is huge as well, and they sell flights that you can customize (we found many bars have a few pre-selected flights). The bartenders were very friendly and the beers were some of our favorite.”

“Dirty Jack's is Green Man Brewery's tasting room. They have a great indoor space, as well as some seating outdoors. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and their beers were pretty good. They also sponsor a bunch of local men's soccer teams too, who frequent the facility.”

“Fun place, friendly staff and good beer. I was there on a Monday night for Trivia which was unique and entertaining. They don't serve food besides a few snacks, but you can order or bring food with you. Highly recommend would go again!”

“We enjoyed several of the beers we had but they were out of some that we had wanted to try. The waitstaff was very friendly and did say we should go to their other location for the sold out beers and more merchandise. This location is definitely more event venue focused. Our recommendation is to go to the West location for double the beer options, a more relaxed atmosphere and larger seating area.”

“We loved this place. Best beer in Asheville during our 3 night stay. Wide variety instead of just IPA and Sours. Nicest staff we had on our whole vacation and we were around a lot of nice staff. They had Scottish Music the night we were there and they were amazing but attendance was sparse. We didn’t eat at the attached BBQ place but the food there looked delicious and their takeout volume was high. Highly recommended”

“New Origin is probably my favorite brewery in the AVL at the moment. They nail every style they brew. Caleb and Chris are amazing bartenders. Dan's an incredible brewer. Plus, he's a nice guy. It's off the South Slope tourist route. If you're in AVL, GO to New Origin.”

4.8Superb41 Reviews

“My husband had several of their draft beers and loved them. I don't drink, so I loved that this location is in a food hall with about half a dozen other spots that I could order a NA beverage from! The building is gorgeous and there's lots of seating, plus live music.”

4.7Superb60 Reviews

“Hidden gem, and experimental brewery that’ll leave you satisfied. The vibe and atmosphere is like no other brewery. If arriving at night park on the left of the entry gate. The end of street will look like no business is there. We’ll be coming back as soon as possible.”

“I visited Asheville for the first time in March and after a few days, I found myself in need of something lighter and more refreshing than beer. I saw Ginger's Revenge on tap at a local bar and decided to give it a try -- and it was love at first sip. I loved it so much that I immediately decided I needed to visit their brewery asap and try all their flavors. I loved the South Slope location; the lounge is intimate and cozy, the decor is impeccable, and the flights were interesting and delicious. And everything was so reasonably priced! And maybe most importantly, the service was top-notch. I clumsily managed to leave my wallet at the bar and only realized it after the lounge had closed. David, one of the co-founders, went above and beyond and drove over after-hours to return it to me. Everyone on staff that I encountered was kind and insightful. I truly cannot wait until I can visit again. I wholeheartedly recommend it.”

“Surprisingly good food, considering that it was not crowded at all. I had pizza, wife had special sandwich. Both were outstanding. Service was friendly and timely, surroundings are 21st century industrial, with plenty of seating inside and out.”

4.7Superb33 Reviews

“Met up with friends here, and I really enjoyed the chill environment. The tables and huge and can accommodate sizable groups. There are games like darts and Dutch shuffleboards available. I didn't order a beer or cocktails, but got to try some local beverages: Devil's Foot Sparkling Lemonade and Ginger Beer. They were both delicious. The ginger beer had light notes of ginger without being too much. Service was quick, and I really appreciated the fact that they carried local stuff that I can try.”

“On Coxe Ave close to other bars, breweries, and restaurants in the area. I tried the Brett Farmhouse beer flight and really enjoyed all four that I had. They also have some wines and specialty cocktails. The food was great, mainly bar bites and sandwiches. Try the naan flatbread ?”

“OMG. The perfect summer beers. Saison for me and a hazy for my wife after a 3 hour hot glass workshop at Carolina Glass across the street. There is a reason these beers exist. This summer proved it. Thank you, ladies of Wedge, for saving me.”

“Food was great and all. But service was a little slow. And my boyfriend got the steak sandwich with no onion, and it came with a to of onions on it. I know it wasn’t the servers fault because she showed us that she specifically told the kitchen “no onions”. Other than those, everything was great.”

“Good place for a large party or smaller event. River Arts District vibe with art & lots of “graffiti” art on buildings. Adjacent to the renowned 12 Bones BBQ joint. Plenty of free parking. Dog friendly. The brewery only offers beverages on tap, but food truck outside has a decent variety of food options. My only complaint is how loud it is, even with no music playing. No attempt has been made to dampen sound and the metal chairs add to the cacophony. I know that many people enjoy this aesthetic, but some like me certainly do not. Bartenders were friendly & helpful. There were many beers on tap. As a non-beer drinker, I appreciated that Noble cider & a seltzer offering were also available.”

4.5Superb88 Reviews

“I'm not able to rate any of the restaurants, but the overall market space is really cool. We stopped in to just walk around, it is a small space. The second floor bar area has a lot of seating and has windows overlooking the city. Beautiful interior and some great looking food and beer options, would definitely recommend stopping in.”

“SO AWESOME. I highly recommend the Electric Eel roll and the Pomegranate & Ginger Hard Seltzer. Absolute 10/10 and the guys working there were so sweet!! Very helpful and talked with us about the Asheville area since it's our first time up.”

“A great local vibe. My son’s band, with the Asheville music school, has played here on a couple of occasions, and the venue is always warm and welcoming. His band draw a big crowd, so it gets a little crowded inside, but there seems to always be a little place to sit or stand that’s out of the way, and the bartenders have smiles and are quick to serve. Also, the sound is excellent for such a small area. And don’t neglect the outside area! It’s surprisingly large out there.”

“Fun brewery, walkable from our hotel. Dog friendly, extensive outdoor space. We got lucky and had great weather, as a sours-only drinker this probably wouldn't be my first choice on a rainy day as the beer smell inside is pretty overpowering. Overall great experience, visited twice (once a normal night and once for trivia) and will definitely be trying the Cincinnati location that I didn't even know we had.”

4.4Superb168 Reviews

“Nice tucked away spot with some stellar staff. Awkward location but at least there's parking and it's not busy. So that's a win. Came in last night and begged the staff to change the tv to the soccer game. They were absolutely accommodating. Only changes I'd make is a tv outside and open later than 9 but that's me being picky ;)The wine was a nice pour but I did not love the rose. It's always a hit or miss. Sad I didn't have time to try the seltzer. Forgot they make them now and I've been wanting to try. Heard mixed reviews. The beer was a delight- the wit. Clean spot with a good array of menu options. Nice patio and space for dates and groups.”

4.4Superb171 Reviews

“Good beer in a comfortable, airy space. Dog-friendly. Order yummy food from Gan Shan West next door, and they'll bring it to you at the brewery. I only wish Archetype would offer one good porter or stout during the summer months - unruly mystic is by far my favorite beer.”

4.4Superb187 Reviews

“A small restaurant with great food!.. The Shrimp and Crab salad is loaded with seafood and large---and it tastes great. The Bolt -- a BLT with oysters added was a hit with the table. And then there were lots of fresh oysters--also great. Add in lots of beer and it was a successful meal for all. Service was very good and knowledgeable. Decor: it's small and has some issues. But the food is awesome!”

“We spent a long weekend in Asheville and our visit to Twin Leaf was the highlight! The beers were awesome and it had a really cool and laid back vibe. There’s plenty of space indoors and outside. The giant ceiling fan kept it cool, even with it being pretty hot outside.”

“We had a great experience with Green Man hosting a 40th birthday party for my husband in their conference room area that opened up to the main bar area and catering a delicious burger bar with fries for our guests. Overall the cost for the reservation of the space and catering cost per person was quite reasonable compared to other places we looked at for the type of event we were wanting, especially on a holiday weekend. We were able to make a slide show of photos to play on the TV in the room which was awesome to celebrate the birthday boy! We had thorough communication with the event staff of Green man planning all the details and were patient with my many emails, making decisions about catering versus ordering individual meals with the number of guests we were expecting and their bandwidth that evening, and were informed of a comedy show happening that same evening which required us to leave the 3rd floor at 8pm to allow a quiet area for the show in the packaging hall on the 2nd floor. This threw us a curve ball at first as we had spoken about extending our reservation an hour and some of our guests were arriving later than expected due to some transportation issues from the airport that day. I called that afternoon stressed about the situation and the staff offered for us to move down to the loading dock with our party at 8pm and stay as long as we wanted, without charging us for that space! It worked great as we could spread out, bring left over food from the catering meal, enjoy the beautiful evening, still access the bar on the first floor and not be charged for this area! The event staff were great about checking in throughout the night and the catering crew did a great job keeping the burgers delicious and not dry, especially for a buffet style meal! They also brought out the fries in stages so they were fresh and hot. They also included impossible burgers for our guests who are vegetarian and GF buns for some of our guests as well. The beer and wine options were also awesome. The building is also kid friendly as well. I would recommend them for your special event or just stopping by in general for a pint!”

“Looking to check out as many breweries as we can while we're here, and stopped her for dinner also.Beer was great, but we only had a single flight. The beer options with different tasting notes is different compared to other places we've been checking out over the years, and is a great idea! The food is also incredible! Cucumber Salad was amazing and CANNOT recommend theusbroom pizza enough! (Add sausage, it's too good)”

“Easy access just outside the brewery via a deck. You order at the window and they give you a pager if needed. My food came out quickly. Ordered a slice of pizza and a meatball sub. The pizza tasted good. It was a nice large slice. The meatball sub was average in both size and taste. The meatballs on it did taste homemade. I would pass on the sub in the future. You can take your food into the brewery or eat out on the deck. I would eat here again.”

“We drove in from Greenville SC for the Beer Tour on how they make/store/package there local beer. We had Liz Suggs as our Tour Guide. She was very knowledgeable of the beer/fermentation process. We were also able to sample the beers. We only got the fries to eat but they were AWESOME!! Everyone was friendly and helpful. Love the roof top seating area. Just around the corner from all the shopping. Great day trip.”

4.4Superb493 Reviews

“Stopped in on last day of trip and wish we had sooner. Sat at the bar and Nick was our bartender. He was attentive, friendly and provided great service. I had a great seat in front of the spot where he was preparing drinks and he patiently answered my questions :)We didn’t eat but I had an Aperol Spritz and two New Beginnings that were expertly prepared and not weighed down with alcohol you could taste. Nick garnished them beautifully and can even make butterfly wings. I loved my pretty cocktails and they were extremely refreshing! Husband sampled a few beers and Lunatic was his favorite.Great atmosphere, clean, excellent service, and fun 90’s alternative music was playing the day we visited. Highly recommend a stop while in town. Saw families eating lunch as well; family friendly.”

“New building from the longstanding original building. Very coolVibe spot that is thriving. Tasty free brews for all flavor palettes. If you visiting & dig breweries this is a must stop while in Asheville. Very pleasant spot in the heart of downtown & walking distance to everything.”

“Catawba Brewing Company is a decent space with plenty of seating and some games to play inside (darts, cornhole, etc.). This isn't their main location, but just a "tasting room" which kind of under-sells it. Their beers were pretty darn good, and the bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable.”

4.2Good67 Reviews

“Ok Catawba please distribute the Strawberry Milkshake Beer to the Rock Hill SC/Charlotte NC area it was delicious. I have a long story about how I was looking for a strawberry beer a few summers back and nothing…I had no idea you guys had Strawberry Zombie you were sold out so I still have to check that out but the Strawberry Milkshake was excellent and I’m not the biggest IPA fan but I do believe the lactose added truly transformed it for me! Great job!”

“Such a cool spot, one of my favorite places in Asheville. I always make it a point to stop here when I'm in town. It has a really cool vibe & atmosphere. The food menu is not too extensive but they have some unique offerings if you're looking for a quick bite. Even if I'm not eating I at least have stop for a sake, or a sake flight!”

4.3Superb286 Reviews

“It is a nice lil spot, visited for the reggae show. They've got food over at french broad pizza, which has more than just pizza, salads and subs too. Didnt get a chance to try out the brewery's selection of items. Also, they have a tiny area besides the pizza thats just a few tables and its on the grass. Its a super relaxing area to chill and take a break, I wish more places had a spot like this.Indoor space good for small events, but I couldnt figure out where the outdoor space for larger events is (maybe parking lot?)”

4.2Good134 Reviews

“Stopped in just because we were walking by and we liked the vibe of the place. Very glad we did! The buidling is beautifully muraled and colorful/welcoming inside. We were easily able to find a seating and they had several fans running to keep the humidity low. We tried several different offerings and liked each one more than the next! Will definitely be looking for more Hi-Wire whenever we're out and about!”

“Absolutely wonderful experience seeing Barbie with my friends! Delicious food and big portions...could've just split two entrees between the 4 of us. Excellent value and all around great experience! We will be back! Thanks y'all and keep up the great work!Parking: A little tight when busy but so convenient and kept clean!”

4.2Good300 Reviews

“Nice brewery with a great location right in the middle of downtown. Unfortunately they only let you go on main floor and basement (which is their location for Belgian beers). Upper deck which drew us there is only for cocktails. Bummer drag. Their beer selection is pretty good on main floor. Their selection of Belgian beers is much more of a variety. I had the dark Belgian and it was one of the best I've had. Their selection of their own beers on the main floor was a bit limited. My wife did find a decent IPA but she's had better. It was a beautiful day but they only have 5 seats outside (right on the sidewalk). It's good for people watching but you gotta get lucky to get the seat. So, bottom line, give it a shot. Only reason for not a 5 star is not being able to go on the roof.”

4.1Good206 Reviews

“I really liked the food and the people here. Great beer selections and pizza delicious. You can get one big slice & add up to 3 toppings for a very reasonable price. It was much more convenient to park near & get into than the other well-known restaurants.”
